A Faucet Installation & Some Fabulous Spring Sales

Whew! What  a day! It started out with mulitple plumbing installations followed by a Leaf Guard Gutter visit mid day to reroute a downspout and ended with getting two estimates, one for hardwood flooring and another for some much-needed landscaping. I think I’m ready for a nap now! lol

So, you know that part on the HGTV show, Fixer Upper where JoAnna Gaines always tells the couple whose house they are fixing up, that they have just enough money left to do one of three upgrades or projects, then she shares the three projects and they have to choose which one to go with?

Well, that’s kind of how I’m feeling right now. Today I got an estimate for adding hardwood flooring to my guest bedroom, an estimate for some landscaping work in the front area of my home, and I really want to get to work on a bath renovation. I can’t do all of those things right this minute, so I’ll have to choose. Which do I really want to work on first?

In the meantime, here’s how the new faucet looks in place in the kitchen. So far I love it!

I’ve enjoyed testing it out today and it’s funny how fast you get used to the hands-free feature. I’ll keep you posted how it’s working after a few weeks/months, but so far, so good!

Hi Susan, not sure if you remember me…its Wendy from the Property Brothers cruise back in November. We first met on the Key West excursion then had a few other brief but lovely chats. I’ve been following your blog and just love it! Can I send you a photo of my Easter table? Like you, I love to decorate and set special tables for each holiday, Easter being one of my favourites! Hope you are well and happy, keep up the excellent posts, they are so inspiring!

    • Hi Wendy! Yes, I do remember you…so great to hear from you! 🙂 I would love to see your Easter table! You can send a photo to my email here: [email protected]. Thanks so much for your sweet comment. Happy Easter to you and your family!

  2. We have the touch faucets. We are so use to them we hit all faucets and wonder why they are not turning on! Guest always turn our faucets off because they are not use to them. I have found that when cleaning or serving buffet style that the faucets have to be turned off or they go on at the wrong time.

Susan, you asked about the Shark vacuums. I’ve had two, one upright and one canister, plus their steamer. Loved them all. They are a little noisy, but I have yet to find a good vacuum that is quiet. I highly recommend them.

  4. Deborah D says

I don’t have a Shark vacuum cleaner. I do have an Oreck with the hepa filter. I absolutely love it. I also have a small handheld for smaller jobs.
Love all the items on sell with bunnies. I have a good friend that absolutely loves bunnies. I’ve grown quite fond of them too.

  5. Susan, you are showing some tempting items. Love that cute bunny with basket of blooms. I stopped into to WS today and resisted the bunny with cart, but now that I see him next to the larger one with basket that I purchased earlier . . . I may need to return tomorrow! ‘-)
Looking forward to tomorrow’s TT. I’ll be sharing a table that was done by another Susan. ‘-)

  6. None of your links work!

  7. All those adorable bunnies–especially the pitcher–just too cute. You are wicked showing us those 🙂 As for choices, if it’s the master bathroom, treat yourself to that first. Otherwise, it seems the time of year to do the landscaping.

  8. I can’t wait to hear about your bathroom and flooring choices. I am exhausted from trying to decide. (I am usually a very decisive person, but this just about does me in.) The idea of living with my mistakes is what holds me back. If I make a mistake cooking I just decide to try again or not, but with remodel it is too expensive to make a mistake.

  9. Cyndi Raines says

Hi Susan! Happy Spring! I have a bunny pitcher similar to the one you showed, only mine is holding a bundle of carrots. I get a lot of compliments on him. I do have a Shark – the white version and I love it! I also have the floor steamer and love it too. As far as your choices, I think I would go with the bathroom make-over and treat yourself and enjoy it. Second choice would be the landscaping as you are outdoors a lot and will enjoy that as well as improving curb appeal. Third choice, the guest bedroom as it is already lovely and won’t be viewed / used as much as your bathroom. Just thought I’d give my 2 cents worth. lol.

  10. Linda Page says

Love the faucet. Looks really great! Have you stood there for a long time just waving you hand across the top turning the water on and off and on and off and on and off??? I would have! Lol

  11. I love my Shark vacuum. I get to see all the dust and dirt it sucks up daily. I can’t believe how much dirt and dust comes into this house each day. I also have the steam mop-so wonderful.

  12. Susan, you are tempting me with all of the cute rabbits and other things but we downsized about six months ago and I got rid of lots and lots of things because I couldn’t take all of my things with me. Luckily though we have a garage that has cabinets wall to wall and floor to ceiling all around so I was able to store some of my things there but I have to really limit myself. Love shopping and reading about all of the cute things you find.

  13. Well, maybe think through the next part of Fixer Upper and it may help you decide which project. You know, that part where they get into the project, and find sub-projects, and Joanna has to call the buyer and deliver the bad news of how more $ has to be spent. Pick your path of least resistance in terms of what subprojects may lie beneath the original one, lol! Btw, I’m just super impressed you could get so many workers lined up – and all on the same day!

  14. LindaSonia says

It’s such a treat to have you share all your fun finds. I love it! It’s like having a personal shopper! I do appreciate it very much 🙂

Your new faucet looks mighty fine. Can’t wait to hear what project you decide to go forward with. There will always be a list of things that need ‘doing’. Have fun choosing.

  15. LindaSonia says

I think that’s the exact same Shark I have. I’ve only had it for several months, but from day one I was sold!! If you can imagine I switched from a Dyson and the difference was staggering. There are lots of configurations. The Liftaway is good for above floor cleaning, but doesn’t get under the bed. The Rocket is better for that. Love the Shark!!

  16. One of the things I take into consideration when buying something like a vacuum is the warranty. There is no question Shark is a popular brand (they’re relatively cheap and you can buy them just about anywhere) but after doing a little research, I will never own anything made by Shark because they make it difficult (and expensive) for the customer to get warranty repairs.

A little over a year ago, I was in the market for a new vacuum myself. I first considered Shark but quickly changed my mind after I went to their website and had an on-line chat with a Shark customer service representative. I was curious how warranty service was handled in the event service or repair was needed and the customer service rep told me if a Shark product needs repair or service during the warranty period, Shark has no local authorized service centers–anywhere. They could easily contract with local vacuum shops (like Bissell and Hoover do) to handle their repairs and warranty work, but they don’t. The Shark rep told me customers have to ship Shark products back to Shark for repair and the customer is responsible for shipping costs BOTH ways. Thanks, but no thanks Shark! At the price of shipping these days, that could easily be $20.00 (but likely more!) each way for something large in size and weight like a vacuum! That’s a deal breaker for me. I don’t feel like the customer should have to incur shipping charges on a product that needs warranty repair!

It’s no secret warranty repairs or replacement cost companies money so they know if they make it difficult or expensive for the customer, most people won’t bother. They’ll just go buy something else–hopefully the same brand — which means more profit for the company. For that reason, I will never support or buy from a company that discourages the customer from making a warranty claim by costing the customer more money or making it inconvenient.

On the other hand, I’ve had several Bissell products through the years and I know they have authorized service centers all over the country, local vacuum shops they have contracted with to handle the service/warranty repairs on their products. There is an authorized Bissell repair center just 5 miles from my home. (Anyone can go to the Bissell website, type in their zip code and find the closest authorized service center.) I ended up buying 2 Bissell vacuums; 1 for me and 1 for my daughter. We are both very pleased. The model we got vacuums circles around the $600 *specialty* vacuum I previously used.

  17. We bought a Shark Navigator about four years ago. A few months ago, we noticed a hose had split. Not knowing if it was out of warranty, we called Shark to ask for a new hose, ready to just buy a hose if need be. They sent us a whole new vacuum for free. We were blown away by the customer service. It’s a great vacuum for a fraction of the price of a Dyson.

  18. That lamp made me laugh out loud! So cute!

  19. Envious about your hands free faucet. 😀

And I know how you feel about the choices, we are facing a few, too.

  20. Carol Herrmann says

I have two Sharks, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. I’ve had both for about 4 and 5 years. Have had no problems with either one. Love them both. Would not consider buying anything else but a Shark.

  21. Susan~
The faucet looks great ! Good info from others about the Shark, I have an old Eureka and I know I should get something new!!

    Happy Easter

  22. First I’d like to ask you about your Leaf Guard gutter system. We are talking about getting an estimate and are wondering if you have been pleased and do they really work? Next I have a Shark Rocket and do not care for it as an all around vacuum. I have a Dyson canister and love it! I have had Hoover, Eureka, Royal, Shark, Dirt Devil, Electrolux and Dyson and Dyson has been the best one so far.

    • Yep, absolutely love Leaf Guard! I never, ever have to think about my gutters and haven’t in 15+ years. Their service is awesome, too. Have only needed to call them a couple of times in all those years and they came right out and corrected the issue at no charge. When I added on the screened porch, I had them come out and add the gutters to it, too. No way I was letting my contractor put on regular gutters. The Leaf Guard gutters had spoiled me rotten by then. 🙂 Thanks for the info about the Dyson, Virginia!

  23. I have a Shark floor steamer and one of the Shark vacuums. I’ve used the steamer for 4 years on my pine floors. I’ve never had a problem with it in four years, using it at least once a week. I gave $25 for it 4 years ago during on of the Black Friday sales at Walmart. I’m not sure which model the vacuum is; I got it during Macy’s black Friday sale, bought the day before Thanksgiving. They honored the Friday sale price on the Wednesday before, so i avoided all the rush of customers. I think after all the discounts, I ended up giving around $60 for a $200 regular price vacuum. It’s the best vacuum I’ve ever owned! It is so lightweight and so easy to move around and it has a very strong suction. I have used a Dyson at my daughters house and it is so much heavier than my shark. The only complaint i have about the vacuum is that is does not have a retractable power cord. My version I have to wind up around the handle. But other than that, I would recommend one.

  24. Hi Susan,
I have Delta touch faucets in my dental office in each operatory. I have been using them since 2012. The batteries last a long time and they have been great! I would put them in again and plan to use them in my home eventually!
    Deb

    • That’s good to know! I return the adapter today. I’ve been reading that the batteries a long time so I decided to just go with those for now.
