Have you ever been to Coconut Grove? It’s one of the oldest neighborhoods in Miami, Florida. Wasn’t there a song that mentioned Coconut Grove or am I imagining that?
Today we’re touring a wonderful, historic, 1910, Coconut Grove cottage that’s been fully renovated/restored. It had me at the screened-in porch! I know you’re surprised! 😉
Do you feel the breezes from Biscayne Bay?
Notice the floors…love a porch with porch-gray painted floors. I almost did this when I added on my screened porch…came so close but my contractor talked me out of it. In the end, I stained them close to the same color as the hardwood flooring inside my home.
The interiors are light and bright, much needed in the hot, balmy summer weather of south Florida! I love the color of the hardwood floors. I know darker hardwood flooring is very popular right now but I think this color is perfect for a cottage located in a tropical beach area. Love the coral rock fireplace, too! Have you ever seen coral rock?
Just imagine the breezes that must come in through these windows in the evening. I would never want to close them unless there were mosquitoes around. What a perfect place for entertaining or just enjoying with family.
Love the white paneled walls and the plank ceiling, definitely adds to the beach cottage design/feel of this home.
But here’s my favorite part of the bedroom. Sooo perfect with the doors thrown open to the porch! I could live like this! How about you?
Another wonderful porch! You can never have too many porches, and you can quote me on that!
I love the back view of this home! Isn’t it amazing how a pergola can take a home from great to WOW! Pergolas are not that expensive to add and Oh. My. Gosh. Just look how much they add to the look of a home! I love how they create a “room” of sorts, an area for entertaining or dining. This one even has an outdoor fan. Just beautiful!
