This year on Mother’s Day weekend, a friend and I went on a garden tour that we’ve been going on together for years: the Atlanta Botanical Garden’s, Gardens for Connoisseurs tour. It’s always an amazing tour with around 12 gardens and some are absolutely spectacular!
During all the years I’ve been attending this tour, I’ve been through some absolutely amazing gardens, some belonging to folks whose names you would recognize. I wasn’t blogging back then so didn’t usually take pictures, but one garden I did take pics of and posted here at BNOTP was that of Arthur Blank, one of the founders of Home Depot and owner of the Atlanta Falcons. (Take the tour here: Arthur Blank’s Garden)
There were so many amazing gardens on the tour this past year…so many! I took a gazillion pics of the garden I’m sharing today and managed to cull it down to the ones I’ve included in today’s post. That was no easy job because this garden is huge, covering 5 acres, and every inch of it is gorgeous!
The one thing I didn’t do was get a great shot of the front of the house, but as you can see in the one photo I did take, it’s beautiful!
Almost immediately we came across a long meandering stream with numerous waterfalls. The stream went on for a long, long way, running downhill through much of the property. It was really wonderful to see and hear! This property was so large, you could go on a nice meandering, thirty-minute walk every day through one stunning garden area after another, and never leave your property.
I love this view looking back up at the house.
There were several ponds and all were lovely with beautiful views.
There was also a greenhouse. It was mostly empty but did contain a few plantings.
A greenhouse, a beautiful birdhouse, an arbor and white picket fence covered in roses…is this not a dream?!
The entrance to the greenhouse…
There was also a large rose garden. Wouldn’t it be fun to wake up each morning and hike down to the rose garden to see what new flowers had opened up overnight. With a garden this size, you could have a fresh bouquet of roses in your home all summer long!
We meandered all throughout the property and eventually wound up headed back toward the home.
Would love to see the inside of this beautiful home. I bet it’s just as wonderful inside as it is out.
I think these are Delphinium, does it look like that to you? I love these and I love Hollyhocks. I have tried to grow them in my yard, but they never come back.
Another view of the home…
A gorgeous container garden…love the container as much as the garden that’s in it!
A lovely place to have lunch or read while spending the day in the pool.
More beautiful climbing roses…
Just as we were about to leave, we came across this beautiful garden room.
I loved all the different porches and spots there were for sitting and enjoying all the beauty of the gardens.
Imagine having roses over your garage, cascading down between each door! Do you see the little rose petals on the ground? I could deal with being showered in rose petals as I come and go in my car each day. How about you?
Hope you enjoyed this garden tour and it left you inspired to take on a project in your garden this weekend.
