Beautiful Kitchen Makeover: Simple Changes with Dramatic Results

Welcome to the 251st Metamorphosis Monday!

I have a fabulous kitchen renovation to share! Julie who blogs at Creating This Life, recently shared some great Before and After pics of her kitchen. Julie’s home was 9 years old when they moved in. They took their time before renovating which gave them some time to figure out exactly what they liked and didn’t like about their kitchen.

BEFORE

The fluorescent light and dated wallpaper were definitely on her “got to go” list. The cabinets were in great shape but needed a little tweaking and redesign. The laminate countertops were also in need of an update.

The area around the refrigerator wasn’t functioning well for Julie and her family so it got a makeover, too.

Here’s a view of the breakfast area before the renovation got underway.

AFTER:

Beautiful! Julie went with a beautiful granite called Giallo Ornamental. I love it! Wallpaper is gone and the walls are painted Benjamin Moore, Beigewood. Cabinets were freshened up with Benjamin Moore, White Dove.

Don’t you love the lanterns Julie picked out to replace the fluorescent light fixture?  I love the romance and warmth they add to the kitchen!

Julie was thrilled to have much easier access to her cookware once the renovation was complete.  Yay, for pull-out shelves!

Her contractor also gave her some great space for items that are best stored vertically like cookie sheets and cutting boards.

This area was completely made over, adding additional storage and function.

You can read more about how this was done on Julie’s blog. She gives some excellent advice about why you should get several estimates and how important it is to find a contractor who listens to what you need.

Remember the breakfast area?

Check it out now! Wow!

The dramatic change you see here in the breakfast area was easily achieved by taking down all the blinds, removing the wallpaper and adding a different light fixture. It’s such a dramatic change, you would think a lot more had been done here, wouldn’t you?  It gives us all hope knowing that little changes can really have a big impact.

Please observe these few rules:

Only link up Before and After posts that are home, gardening, crafting, painting, sewing, cooking, DIY related.

Do not link up if you’re doing so to promote a website or product.

Do not link up a post that was just linked last week since a lot of readers will have already seen that post.

Very pretty. She did a wonderful job.

  24. pam ~ crumpety cottage says:

One thing I noticed was how much “calmer” the kitchen looked. I do like wallpaper in kitchens for a homey look, but in this instance, her ‘after’ is so much more appealing to me because it evokes feelings of calm and tranquility. Maybe that says something about me as a panic-y cook, lol. 😀

  25. Wow…beautiful kitchen transformation! Thanks so much for hosting.

  26. What a great redo. I would not have thought of that color, but it makes me want to bake something. It really is a delicious color. I love the cookie sheet storage also.

    Great post Susan.

  27. Wow everyone, thanks for all your nice comments and to Susan for featuring the kitchen. You all are making my day.

  28. Rattlebridge Farm says:

I love the kitchen renovation. The attention to detail is amazing, especially with the fabulous storage.

  29. She did a great job with her kitchen. I love the storage, clean lines and coloring. I had a similar light fixture before our remodel- so glad to have gotten rid do it! She has a nice blog, I recently discovered her and enjoy seeing her updates.

  30. Wow, wonderful makeover. Love the granite and the electric stove-no cleanup for the stovetop. Making the walls dark was great contrast.

  31. That is one amazing reno! I love every detail, but especially the lamps that replaced the flourescent light. Just a beautiful job! Thanks for hosting, Susan.

  32. What a beautiful kitchen transformation! Thanks so much for hosting, Susan!

  33. I like a white kitchen! This is a great transformation, not only in the kitchen but how amazing is that eating area, now! The wallpaper and blinds were stopping the eye. Now, with that gone, and the curtains between the windows, it just makes it look alike it is all glass! Amazing. Did I say,… amazing? 🙂

  34. Beautiful! what is the color that was used on the wall?

I'd love to hear from you! Please leave a comment!
