Duck, Duck Goose

I almost named this post “Goose Dynasty.” 😉

Recently Bonnie created a beautiful fall tablescape and I couldn’t wait until Tablescape Thursday to share it with you.

Fall Table Setting with Fall Leaves Dishware 5

This table celebrates the beautiful, rich colors of fall.

The centerpiece is a wonderful tureen disguised as a fat, fall goose. Do you think he’s a Canada goose heading south for the winter? I think he’s just stopping by for a little rest, nestled down into the leaves at the base of a big Oak tree.

Bonnie found the fall leaves dishware in Pier 1. Isn’t it beautiful? Love her amber glassware, so perfect with the leaf tablecloth and the amber glass candlesticks. Fall leaf napkin rings complete this setting.

Some of this autumn dishware may have just found its way into my cupboards. 😉  It has to be my fave fall dishware because the leaves are just so realistic! Seriously! They appear to have just fluttered down onto the plates and you want to reach out and touch them.

Did you notice Bonnie’s sideboard? It’s transitioning to fall just like our trees will soon be doing. Have the trees started changing colors yet where you live? Ours are still mostly green but you can feel the change coming. Won’t be long now.

Thanks to Bonnie for sharing her wonderful fall table! Happy Fall!

  1. Very pretty tablescape. I love all the fall colors and the dishes are lovely. Everything goes so well together.
Thanks for sharing Susan. Have a great week.

  2. Susan,
I thought of you last night while on the Pottery Barn site. They have very cute salad/desert plates in the shape of a leaves on sale! You may already have some like them, I am thinking you might. Our leaves are not turning here in Indiana yet. We are to have temps around 88 for the next two days. Our weather is CRAZY in Indiana!
    Table looks pretty!

    Blessings,
    Shelly

    Susan,
Oooh is that pretty! That would also make a beautiful Thanksgiving tablescape. I know it’s only September and not even officially Fall yet, but I’m already thinking about ideas for Thanksgiving!
Thanks for sharing another lovely tablescape.

  4. Bonnie created a beautiful fall tablescape and thanks for sharing it with us. There was a little nip in the air this morning and now I am really excited about decorating for fall! And yes, those leaf plates are gorgeous!

Such a beautiful autumn tablescape !! We are having a pot roast tonight with all the fixings and that tablesetting would go so well with my dinner ! LOL – The leaves here in the Litchfield Hills are changing – you can see the hue of the fall color coming thru in the whole tree and we have some trees actually in full color but not too many yet. We may get frost tonight, so that will help things along for sure – Love this time of the year 🙂 Hugs, Dorinda

  6. Oh boy that is a beautiful fall table! Those plates really do have a realistic look to them. I like that goose- what a fun centerpiece and I like her transitioning sideboard. Our trees are still green but here and there you see some that have changed color already.

What a cheerful and elegant table setting. Way to go Bonnie! What lovely things she has. Thanks so much for the beautiful ideas.

I saw the Chickadee plates at Pottery Barn and thought of you Susan. They would be perfect on the Porch. I would like a set too, but they are a bit pricey AND they’ll be gone if I wait for a sale. That is ALWAYS my luck. 😀

I am loving our weather today, sunny with a crisp breeze.

  8. What an absolutely gorgeous tablescape!! franki

  9. Such a pretty table. Love the goose and the plates with fall leaves. Those are really great plates!

  10. Susan, thanks for sharing Bonnie’s fall table. I agree with you about these leafy plates. They are so realistic! This table certainly puts one in a fall mood.

  11. Susan, thanks so much for sharing my table. As if by magic, today’s weather changed to much cooler temps and rain. The change in color won’t be far behind now. ♥

  12. Susan, Bonnie has certainly set a festive table. I agree those leaf plates are gorgeous and the tureen, ooh la la!
We are not having any fall weather here. Plenty of rain but no turning leaves. How is the yard doing?

  13. Beyond lovely — all of it! I’m itching to get away from my desk and pop over to Pier 1 for those plates. Thank you for sharing!

  14. Woo, that is fabulous! I do so love me some autumnal tablescapes! The amber tones of the glassware, the candlesticks with foliage trim, just gah! Love, love, love!

  15. Beautiful! The tablescape is so rich in color it makes you feel full–like you just ate a 5-course meal! Thank you for sharing Bonnie’s gorgeous table. Chickadee plates are also on my wish list. I missed getting the tartan plates and the deer salad plates at PB last year (think they’ll have them again?). I’m not going to miss out on the chickadee plates this year! I already have the Winter Greetings dinnerware from Lenox–plenty of birds! Am I being greedy? ha ha ha I know you dish-lovers are laughing at that notion!

  16. The table setting looks magical. Love the colors!

  17. Thank you Susan for sharing Bonnie’s fall table with us. Bonnie has hit another homerun with this tablescape. I will definitely be running over to Pier 1 in the morning to check out those gorgeous fall leaf plates. The beautiful red flatware is the prefect color to go with the russet colors in the plates and the tablecloth. I think Bonnie’s sideboard is so beautiful with the fall decor. Everything is just lovely!

    • Candy, call to make sure they have them. I noticed when I was out shopping, the Pier 1 near me never got them in, but I found them at another location about 30 minutes away. They are beautiful. Also, you may be able to order them online…not sure if Pier 1 ships but I’ve seen them online, too.

  18. Thanks for sharing Bonnie’s lovely fall table. I love the plates!

  19. Bonnie ALWAYS sets a beautiful table and I am so glad you share this one withus, Susan!!

  20. Thank you Susan as this is a lovely post of Bonnie’s fall tablescape. The goose centre piece is adorable but no it is not a Canada goose; wrong coloring. What a warm inviting place to sit down to some hot soup and roast beef dinner, n’est ce pas?

  21. Forgot to say I used the first picture for my desktop background and it looks ever so lovely…

  22. Just recently discovered your site and can’t stop jumping from place to place. With the advent of Fall just 3 days away, currently trying to bring a bit of Fall inside. Thank you for sharing Bonnie’s beautiful autumn tablescape – Duck, Duck, Goose! Found the leaf plates at Pier 1 on-line along with golden goblets that will work in nicely and the individual pumpkin toureens from a different tablescape.. However, I have been unable to find a darker red/orange salad/dessert plate; nor have I found a green dinner plate (love the one in Duck, Duck, Goose with the cut out edge). Any ideas where I might look for similar items? Susan, thank you for maintaining this fabulous site!

    • Thanks, Paula! I think the the green plate is a charger and the red plate is the dinner plate. The leaf plate is a salad plate, I think. I know they made the leaf plates in both salad and dinner size and I think Bonnie, bought the salad size since she had the red dinner plates. Did you purchase the leaf dinner plates or the salad size? If you purchase the dinner plates in the leaf pattern, that would be really pretty with a red/orange salad plate. The green chargers could be hard to find since chargers are always produced in limited amounts. I bet they are by Bordallo Pinheiro because they make a lot of dishware that looks like that. Try Googling for Bordallo Pinheiro and also check on eBay and Replacements.com. You’ll find a link to Replacements on my sidebar. It’s not an affiliate link or anything like that–they are a Sponsor with BNOTP and they carry discontinued, hard to find dishware . About red/orange plates, I have found them occasionally in HomeGoods and Marshalls but not sure if they have any now. Check on eBay or try Googling for Fall salad plates or rust or burnt orange salad plates. I just did a search on eBay for orange salad plates and bunches of pages came up so I bet you’ll be able to find those pretty easily.

  23. Our doorbell has been ringing a lot during this past week; delivering items from Pier 1. The closest Pier 1 is an hour away so on-line works for me. Set breakfast table (round oak table) with heavy felt leaf-shaped placemats (Wal-Mart in at least 4 colors – 2012). We had Pier 1’s “fruit” dinnerware from many years ago to use as dinner & salad plates. Added Pier 1’s leaf shaped salad/appetizer/decorative plate next – the colors in these are gorgeous & I think these are my new” fall favorite thing”. Topped everything off with Pier 1’s Capiz Pumpkins (in-store only). Pottery Barn’s Painted Pumpkin napkins are a wonderful addition to the table setting. Back to Pier 1 for their Golden Goblets. Centerpiece came from things stored in our attic: glass hurricane that is changed seasonally; currently with a potpourri bag of small acorns, nuts, chopped bark, with a bit of red bark for fall color; and a Luminara dark red candle (QVC – 2012) – all surrounded by a colorful fall leaf wreath. This week we’ll set up the dining room table using Pier 1’s new leaf plates (dinner & salad) topped with their pumpkin tureens; all atop Wal-Mart rectangular leaf placemats (little more formal). Pier 1’s Rouge flatware will be a great accent to the red in the leaf plates. From years ago, we have a Fitz & Floyd Pheasant Soup Tureen with platter & matching pheasant candlesticks (Stein Mart – unknown year of purchase). Stemware is see-through green wine glasses with “family-passed-down” clear cut-crystal ice tea glasses. Will add some small pumpkins & leaves (Dollar Tree last year) to finish off our “Let’s Eat” table for Thanksgiving. Thanks to your site, Susan, our home feels like Fall even if the temperatures are still mid-70’s to mid-80’s, with no leaves changing color around here (western NC). We’re taking a drive a little higher up the mountain this weekend, hoping to catch some early color. Thank you again for this wonderful site…every day I venture into a new “Tab” for even more inspiration & ideas.

    • Thanks, Paula! You’re tables sound beautiful and perfect for fall! I can picture them with your wonderful descriptions. Don’t you love finding things in different places over the years and then somehow they magically all work great together. 🙂 I really found a lot of cute things in Pier 1 for this fall season…love their napkin department, too.
