Fall Dining on the Porch: Celebrating the Russet Shades of Autumn

Welcome to the 167th Tablescape Thursday!

It was a gorgeous day here so I spent some time playing outside on the porch. The leaves are changing and the fall colors are spectacular. I brought those colors to my table setting for Tablescape Thursday.  I shopped the house and snagged a floral arrangement from the family room for my fall tablescape.

I liked it, but ultimately I changed it out for…

…this lantern I purchased at Old Time Pottery a few months back.  I loved how the lantern looked with the dark metal flatware.

Now that some of the leaves have fallen from the very tops of the tall trees in my backyard, the sun is finding its way onto the porch on these beautiful fall days.

I just noticed this pic was taken before I removed the witch from the swing. lol  I did move her at some point during the picture taking today.  I still have a bit more Halloween decor to put up.  Do you have all yours put away?

It’s so rare that I get to use these heavy amber glass chargers.  I found these in the clearance isle of Hobby Lobby a couple of years ago.  They ended up being only $22 for all six.

Remember the acorns I had hanging from mugs in THIS fall tablesetting and THIS fall teascape?   Today they are napkin rings for our fall table.

The dinner plate and bowl in this table setting are from the Colorwave Collection by Noritake.  The brown color of the bowl and red on the rim of the plate were a perfect mix for a fall tablescape.

One of the nice things about the Colorwave china is how well the solid colors, pair with a patterned salad plate.  This means that by just changing out your salad plates, you can create a whole new look for the seasons.  The acorns on the salad plates mimicked our acorn napkin ring. Flatware is Gourmet Settings Treble Clef available HERE.

You may remember these cute striped glasses from this previous fall table setting, HERE.  Written in lovely script, the glasses convey several mesaages.  Around the top they say: “Smiles, Laughter, HugsFamily, Memories are made of this. ♥ ”  And around the bottom:  “Home is where my heart is.” and “Enjoy the little things.”  The words “Friends,” “Family” and “Home” appear in large script in various places on the glasses, too.  That just says it all, doesn’t it?

The beautiful amber stemware is “Breeze Amber” by Noritake.  It’s considered casual glassware but it is sophisticated enough to easily use in a formal setting, too.  I love this color for a fall or Thanksgiving table setting!

A few evening views just before nightfall…

The black lantern is so pretty silhouetted against the colorful fall leaves on the trees.

Looking forward to seeing all the beautiful table settings for this Tablescape Thursday!

Beautifully done, Susan ~ I love the crisp, fresh look of your table. Thank you for hosting us, sweet, talented lady!! xoxo

  17. Love the amber Noritake glasses. I haven't noticed them before in stores or on blogs. Like the lantern, too (but I've said that before). I see you couldn't resist those Wal-mart plates either. I got the ones with the gourds. They didn't have the ones you have or the ones with the turkeys until I went back for 2 more (wasn't thinking and only bought 6 the first time), but I think they are a great deal for the $$. Pretty table!

  18. p.s. Those chargers were a great find, too. I wish Hob Lob was closer to my house!

  19. On Crooked Creek says

  20. Aaah dear Susan,

At long last another delightful opportunity to visit and partake with you dear lady, the masterclass blog party hostess, as well as the masterclass of tablescaping artistry!.., Really I wonder how you do it, and do it all so well!

This tablescape just does something for my soul!

Every time I visit and enjoy your tablescape creations I am transported and uplifted..,

I have been unwell, yet thankfully am on the mend after two blood transfusions, three months ago. I am sooo happy to be back!

I adore your golden amber, orange hued, warm glowing masterpiece with that lantern and those plates and chargers. I also love the visual freshness of all of the colors.

..,Especially with the crisp patterns of the striped glass ware set against the background of your crisp white table. The shot looking downward at those leaf motif plates was so fun!

Simply breathtaking in it's freshness and elegant simplicity Susan!..,

Also, although I certainly do understand that you are very busy, yet nonetheless I still most warmly invite you to visit my pink cloche tablescape; (although I have joyously entered several posts this time); after so long a time of being away from posting regularly with your Tablescape Thursday.., Fun!

Thanks so very much for hosting!

    Hugs, Wanda Lee

J'aime les lanternes. J'en possède de toutes sortes. Au lieu d'utiliser l'éclairage électrique extérieur, je les dispose tout le long du chemin de ma porte d'entrée au portail lorsque le soir j'invite des amis…
    Gros bisous

  25. I love those napkins Susan, we have those at Pier 1, I love the beading and your heavy amber goblets, nicely done!

  28. Beautiful as usual, Susan. I would have chosen the lantern as well. My favorite are those gorgeous napkins and acorn rings.
Thank you for sharing and for hosting.

  29. Cindy Rippe says

Love the fact that the striped cushions can be a summer look but pick up the warm colors of your gorgeous tablescape. Very cozy!

  30. Susan (Between Naps on the Porch) says

Beckie…don't you see it? The food is on the hutch, here on the porch. Can you smell all the wonderful aromas? We're having an early Thanksgiving feast, complete with both ham and turkey, home-made dressing, a squash casserole, a sweet potato casserole with a crunchy pecan and brown sugar topping that's alternating with toasted marshmallows across the top. There's fresh green beans and corn. For dessert, we're having coconut cake served with ambrosia for dessert. I spent all morning making the ambrosia. 😉 Hope you came hungry!

  31. So lovely. Your photos are so gorgeous, and welcoming. The lantern is a great touch. I would love to read any organizing tips that you have-as your home is always perfectly put together 🙂

  32. Tombstone Livestock says

  37. Beautiful setting! Love the colors and the lantern glows with that orange candle so nicely! Those glasses with the printed sayings are perfect!
My halloween is still up but not for long! Time to think about Thanksgiving!

  38. Susan (Between Naps on the Porch) says

Hi Barbara, Thanks so much! I use a Nikon D40 with just the kit lens. The D40 is an older camera. Nikon has come out with a D60 and a D90 and probably several others since I got mine. I'd love to upgrade my lens one day. I do recommend Nikon…I have really enjoyed using mine.

  39. Gorgeous table as usual. I love the lantern and the table settings. The lantern creates a wonderful atmosphere in the evening.

  40. Tracy Boyle says

Such a beautiful setting! I LOVE the lantern but I also liked the flowers. Thank you for showing us both. It's amazing how the table changes with just that one element changing. I also was reading the list of supplies and where you got them. I bet it is so FUN to go out and search for items that you can incorporate. You have such a knack for it. Thank you Susan for inspiring me! I'm off to set my table.

  41. Michelle @ Sweet Something Design says

  44. Beautiful as always Susan! I love the glassware-very nice!

I'm enjoying the same little salad plates this year! I mixed them with my Mother's Harmony House Royal Baroque china for company the other night. Her china is off white trimmed in gold. I love how you put together your place settings.

    Love the lantern too!

  50. Susan – this is the first time I've actually looked at your place, envious that I was over the attention my better half gives to your porch views rather than her hubby's views. Now I see why she visits ~ great prose, sharp photos, a sure sense of style and grace ~ what a place. Thanks for hosting!

  51. Susan (Between Naps on the Porch) says

Zzoott, so sorry about making you a blog widower. If you can't beat them, join them…right? 😉 Seriously…I appreciate those truly kind words! Hope you stop by the porch again!

  53. Help! Mama Remote... says

Everything looks so lovely. I'd like to join next week. Is there a specific theme for next week?

  54. Susan (Between Naps on the Porch) says

That would be great…would love to have you join! No, there's never a specific theme…you can link any table setting you wish. 🙂

  55. Beautiful Fall table, Susan. I love those amber glasses. I used that color this week too with copper and it looks like the table is glowing. Love the acorns on your napkins.
I don't think people realize they have no reply addys. It is frustrating not to be able to answer them and not many come back to see if you reply.
Have a good week, and thanks for hosting.

  56. Well, Susan, I don't know how you do it. Each tablescape on your porch just seems to be prettier than the last. Is your porch an All-season one so you can use it even in the winter? Inquiring minds need to know….lol!

  57. Susan (Between Naps on the Porch) says

Hi Cas, No, it's strictly just screened-in. But our winters are pretty short here and every month, even January and February, always seems to have a warm day or two that suitable for some porch time. I just didn't want another heated and cooled space…really wanted it to be a porch. April through about middle of Nov is when it gets used the most. I had a Christmas party here one year and though it was very cold outside that day, everyone kept going out on the porch. My kitchen door ended up open for the entire party! lol It just sort of pulls you out…it the magic, mystical "power of the porch." Doesn't that sound like a good blog post. lol
