Some Edible Fun for Foodie Friday!

It’s time forFoodie Friday at Designs by Gollum.  Thanks, Michael for hosting this delicious party each week! I’m a bit late joining in, but I just had to share these cakes…they are truly amazing! These are all said to be made by a bakery named Zhanna, in St. Petersburg, Russia and no plastics or artificial parts were used. All parts of each cake are completely edible. Click on any pic to enlarge.

Be sure to visit Designs by Gollum for lots of great Foodie Friday feasts!

  1. WOW! Those cakes are amazing! They are like the Gingerbread House compition at the Grove Park Inn in Ashville NC. The winner is always on the cover of DEC Ladies Home Journal. Doesn't it make you wonder how they can spend that much time on something like that & DO THYE EAT THEM???? I can't imagine. Thanks for sharing. Have a safe weekend & enjoy. Hope it's a long one for you.

  2. Those are astounding!

  7. Ha, those are my tires on my car. I decorated a cake a couple weekends ago and it was so pitiful. These are truly amazing.

  8. Beautiful cakes! Such creativity. I took one decorating class and I know there is so much work involved. Amazing!

  9. OMGosh…..simply amazing! Some one is very talented.

  10. As a cake decorator (amateur!) and maker of sugar ornamentation and flowers, I have to say that these cakes are beautiful. Ours is the only art I can think of where our work which take hours of hard work and patience is completely demolished and destroyed, with our blessing, in minutes. Imagine Leonardo letting somebody carve up the Mona Lisa when the paint was only just dry!

And yes, unless they've been made for a competition they do get eaten – after a million photos have been taken! Even for competitions they are cut to make sure the very strict rules have been followed.

    love, Angie, xx

  11. Wowie! This woman is a talented individual. So much time and work is involved to create such artwork. And yes, I do call it art. It almost seems a shame to have to cut into decorated cakes such as these and eat them. I wonder if she ever thinks, "Let them eat cake." *grin*

  12. Truly an art in itself! How amazing.

  13. These are amazing!

  14. Kathy @ Creative Home Expressions says:

That. Is. A-mazing. I think they are all fantastic and can't even say which I like more. I would really have a hard time cutting into one of those.

    Hi Brenda,
These pics were sent to me via an e-mail from my sister, but I did find a website that showed a few more…it's http://englishrussia.com/?p=851.
I think the bakery where the cakes were made is called Zhanna, but they don't appear to have a website.

I wanted to ask a quick computer ?? When you visit a blog from your comments page, how can you return to your own dashboard without clicking the "back" arrow 1000 times or closing out the window (and internet) and starting over.

Thanks so much for your time, Susan!

    xoxo
