- Explains a lot of the history behind the decorations you see in southern homes during the Christmas season, ranging all the way from Maryland to the most southern states, including Texas. So much information packed into this book! We visit private homes, museums, grand hotels and country inns.
- Very nostalgic, traditional type book, so definitely a book for the sentimental heart who loves a traditional Christmas. Many of the decorations use greenery from the yard, combined with fruit and other homemade decorations.
- Contains recipes for egg nog, sweet potato pudding, oyster pie and Virginia pound cake.

I hadn’t thought there could be a southern style to Christmas, but that makes sense as they would probably have more and different greens–even fruit–available.
Hi Susan, Thanks for the info! Believe it or not, I have a cookbook by this author, and it has some good recipes in it. I knew she was southern; I was thinking maybe from Virginia(?) Anyway, this looks like my kind of book, and I can get a new hardback through Amazon for a great price.
