In The BNOTP Library: Southern Lady Gracious Tables

While we continue visiting and enjoying all the wonderful tables linked for Tablescape Thursday today, here’s a great book from my library, filled with lots of inspiration for setting beautiful tables.  You may recognize the author, Phyllis Hoffman; she’s the President of Hoffman Media which produces so many great lifestyle magazines including Southern Lady, The Cottage Journal, Tea Time, Bliss Victoria, Taste of the South and many others.

Southern Lady Gracious Tables by Phyllis Hoffman

3 Things I Like About This Book:

  • Includes ideas and lots of photos of both formal and casual dining. Herend’s Rothschild Bird china is used in one setting…LOVE that pattern!
  • Lots of recipes that would be great for entertaining or for everyday, as well as helpful tips and information about so many topics from choosing stemware to serving tea. I enjoyed reading about the traditions and elements of hospitality Phyllis was taught when growing up, many long forgotten now in this busy world we live in.
  • Photography is wonderful and we get the added bonus of seeing some beautiful interiors, including several gorgeous dining rooms and outdoor settings in gardens and on porches.

  1. This is my favorite book for tablescape
inspiration! I refer to it quite often.

    • Definitely a good one. I was drooling over the recipe for Red Velvet cake again this evening, wondering if I can sneak some blue in somewhere and make it for a get together this weekend.

  8. I agree with Jane @Cottage at the Crossroads. This book looks like a winner, but I want to know when YOUR book is coming out!!! Rosie @ The Magic Hutch

  9. Susan I used to get your posts coming to my e-mail box but no more. I try to sign in on Google but that doesn’t seem to work. Is there some other way that I can get your blog?
I understand that is because of changes with Yahoo.

    • Hi Goldie, Sorry you’re not getting in now. Try adding the following address to you Address book: [email protected]
It may take a few days to work but that may help. Also, just check your spam file to make sure it isn’t accidentally going there. If it is, you can open it and check or mark it as “not spam.”
Goldie if either of those work, would you let me know?

  10. It’s always good to know of another book from which to glean ideas.

  11. I just got this book for my birthday and so enjoyed reading through it. I’m sure I will be looking at it again and again. Thank you so much for featuring it.
