A Garden Party with the Birds and the Bees

Welcome to the 450th Tablescape Thursday! I was in the mood for a springtime table this week. It all started when I shared this bee flatware that's currently on sale in my last post. I hadn't used it in a table setting in a while and I missed it!   We're off to a garden party for this week's Tablescape Thursday!   I kept the centerpiece simple--just a vase of beautiful … [Read more...]

Two New Benches for the Front Porch

A few days ago I blogged about ordering a couple of the Luciana benches from Grandinroad when they were having a good sale on their outdoor benches. (View that post here: Whimsical Garden Bench for the Front Porch)   As mentioned in that previous post, my front porch was built from this photo found in a Southern Homes magazine many years ago. This is the beautiful historic home at Gainesway … [Read more...]

Wake Up the Porch & Decks for Spring

Welcome to the 168th Metamorphosis Monday! Preparing the Porch and Decks for Spring: Cleaning and Planting At the start of this past winter, I decided to try something new.  Instead of tossing the big geranium that lives all summer on the porch, and the three smaller ones visible behind this summer table setting below, I tucked them all away in my garage for the winter. Amazingly, they lived.  They … [Read more...]

Beach Themed Table Setting

Welcome to the 22nd Tablescape Thursday! I've been under the weather for about 2 weeks with a bad cold that seems to be getting worse instead of better, especially today. So, hope you won't mind, but for this week I thought I'd re-post the first tablescape I ever created for Tablescape Tuesday. It's a Beach themed tablescape and honestly, I think we could all use a little "escape" from the cold right … [Read more...]

Welcome to the Porch!

Today I thought I'd share a little about the porch that is the namesake for this blog, Between Naps on the Porch.   First, take a look at the "Before" picture.  The deck shown below is what used to be, where the porch is now. It was an original deck that had been added onto by a previous homeowner. Unfortunately, the addition wasn't done properly and many more supports were used underneath than … [Read more...]

A Christmas Tree for the Porch

I've been busy this last week decorating for Christmas and preparing for the neighborhood Ladies Cookie Party that will be at my house Sunday afternoon. Even though the weather is a bit chilly for hanging out on the screened-in porch, I thought I'd dress it up a bit since it's visible from inside. And maybe, just maybe, Sunday will be nice enough to venture out for a bit. Last week was in the 30's and today … [Read more...]

A Purr-fect View from the Porch…

Does anyone remember this? It was the main pic for my screened-in porch posting when I posted it on Rate My Space. This is the summer view. {{{BIG SIGH}}} When I stretched out on the settee this past summer and looked up, this was the view... For the past few weeks, the view has been changing with each passing day. The green has given way to yellows, reds, browns and golds....and before long, it … [Read more...]

A Magnolia & Lemon Centerpiece

Welcome to the 11th Tablescape Tuesday! On one of my trips to A Classy Flea this past summer, I came across this happy daisy china.  It was love at first sight! I used place mats and matching napkins I already had. The faux bamboo flatware is from Big Lots...very inexpensive but I love it. This is an American made dishware and it dates back to the 1960s. It was made by Metlox Potteries out … [Read more...]
