Tole Chandelier for the Office

Welcome to the 120th Metamorphosis Monday!

Happy Metamorphosis Monday! Things are about to get cranking once again with the home office. I’m still waiting on a component that’s backordered, but the chandelier is here. Unfortunately, the contractor who will install it (along with the crown molding) is currently out of town. He is supposed to be back in town this week, so hopefully I’ll have some neat updates to show you real soon.

In the meantime, here are a few pics of the tole chandelier that will ultimately hang in the office. It is covered with 14 flowers, actually more if you count all the flowers in the individual clusters. I’ve been trying to name them all…maybe you can help.

Do the purple ones look like phlox or violets? Linda suggested the little purple flowers could be periwinkle (myrtle). They do look similar.

The pink, blue and yellow ones around the top remind me of Lily of the Valley or bell flowers, although, I don’t think they are normally in those colors. 🙂 There are three roses, two pink and one red. You can see the red one below.

Ummm, wonder if the large pink flowers are Plumeria?

I really like all the variation of color in the green foliage. That should help it to blend/work with the chair I posted about HERE. The office seems to be taking on a botanical theme. I can live with that. 🙂

There are three happy daisies on this chandelier.

So what do you think? Do you like this one better than the one I almost won HERE but ended up losing?  They are very different, aren’t they?

Looking forward to your Before and Afters!

Hi Susan, Your chandelier is beautiful! I like it even better than the one you "lost"–sometimes things work out for the best! I think the purple flower looks like periwinkle (myrtle), with even the green leaves similar. That is a common ground cover here in New England. Here's a link for a picture: http://www.daytonnursery.com/encyclopedia/Perennials/Vinca.htm
Enjoy your new light. Hope the contractor comes soon. Linda

  32. Great find Susan, it will look amazing. Can't wait to see it hanging in your office. 🙂

  33. Hi Susan, I had never seen a tole chandelier until you showed us the first one.
I definitely like this one better, it is lighter and airy looking, the flowers arch better.
The purple ones do look like violets, the bell shaped flowers could be just that, bluebells, pink bells, or maybe Just the artist's interpretation.
This definitely is a first for me, I must have led a sheltered life!! 🙂
You have now given me a grand idea. I picked up at a garage sale, a cream metal chandelier with the holders pointing down, obviously meant for lampshades. They were minus the shades, but I took it anyway as I wanted it for my gazebo tent. I do decorative painting so must put on my thinking cap and see what I can come up with.
Always good ideas on your site.
BTW Happy Mothers' Day to one and all.

  34. I love your chandelier!! I think it's even prettier than the one you lost. It's perfect for your office!

  35. oh my! the chandy looks great. I loved how you designed it. thanks for giving me new inspiration:)

  36. Amy @MaisonDecor says

What a great tole chandy! This one has many more flowers than I normally see on one. I love the bluebells or maybe they are blue lilly of the valley!

  37. The Real Me! says

I saw that almost exact chandelier on our local Craigslist but by the time I talked to my hubby about it it was gone. They were asking $60.00 or best offer.
Stuff like that doesn't come up to often. It's beautiful.
    Have a blessed day.
    Kim

  38. That chandelier is absolutely gorgeous. I love it!

  39. I love your new chandelier! It will spring in your office year round.

I actually like the chandelier that you have more than the one that you missed from Ebay. I think the colors will be more versatile and it just looks fresher. Congratulations on your find!

  41. I wanted to say A BIG THANKS for the link up. I've had such a great response. AND – the chandelier shouts Spring. totally unique.

  44. What a pretty chandelier…so colorful and springy. I'm a bit clueless when it comes to identifying all the little flowers. A perfect choice for your new space.

  45. Fantastic chandelier. I love it! Thanks for hosting another great link party. For some crazy reason its not letting me link to the party 🙁 I feel like a little kid who wasn't invited!

I truly do like this new one you have chosen because of the interest of the flowers. But I, also, love the first one you chose as I own one like it. Lots of beauty in this world to be admired! I am anxious to see this hanging in your new office.

  47. Anonymous says

Oh, I love that chandellier. I wish I had found something like that for my spare bedroom. Where did you find it? Your office is going to be gorgeous when it's finished. Can't wait.

  48. Susan (Between Naps on the Porch) says

Anon…thanks! Good ole eBay came to the rescue. New tole chandys seem to be added almost daily. It's hard to be patient to the right one gets listed. This one was fortunately a "Buy It Now" sale so I didn't have to go through the torture of bidding. lol

  49. I like the one you just bought….it's fuller and has a greater variety of flowers plus I think the white makes it all fit beautifully with the white furniture and moldings and shutters! Great find. I think the purple flowers are violets! :o) Toni

  50. Shanthi says

Hi Wonderful Chandelier and wonderful posts. I wanted to link mine to MM . I am new here -how do I make the back link to my blog please 🙂

  51. Love it! Even better than the first one you were looking at. The purple ones could be bluets/quaker ladies.

  52. Susan (Between Naps on the Porch) says

    Hi Shanti,
To link up, you'll just need to include a link in your post back to the BNOTP party so your readers can easily find the other participants who have linked up for today's party. Also, when you link up to the party, be sure to put your "permalink" into the Inlinkz URL box. To get the permalink to your Met Monday post, just click on the title of your MM post and copy and paste the address that shows up in the address bar into the Inlinkz URL box. That way when folks visit the Met Monday party a few days from now, when they click on your picture link, it will take them straight to your Met Monday post instead of to your general blog address.
Hope this info helps. Let me know if you have any problems linking up.

  53. I like the new chandlier much better! It's quite colorful!

  54. Miss Char says

I am no help whatsoever on the names of the flowers but I sure do love the piece. Can't wait to see it after your contractor dude gets back.

  56. How exciting to have found such a colorful chandelier for your new office. I look forward to actually seeing it hanging there.

  57. FABBY'S LIVING says

There you go Susan!!! You found an even prettier chandalier than the one you wanted before, it's so femenine and elegant at the same time…what a way to go Susan! Congrats, so glad for you!
Can't wait til the constructor guy comes back!
    Hugs.

  58. I'm LOL right now… When you mentioned naming the flowers… I thought you were meaning like Pink Penelope or Daiy Fuentes! =) Great chandy candy and it will be a beautiful detail to madd to the ceiling (are you painting the cieling a color and adding a medallion too??)

  60. Ispirato Design says

Wow -your chandelier is gorgeous!!!! Thanks for hosting.

  61. Susan (My Place to Yours) says

Well, since you asked… I personally like "the one that got away" — but the mix of colors makes this one a lot more versatile, and I know you're going to love it!

There was a sweet small tole chandy hanging in my old house when we bought it. A young lady I know fell in love with it for her nursery, and I fell for the thought of it hanging in a sweet little girl's room rather than sitting in my attic until I decided if/where to hang it. So I gave it to her. As she walked out of my house, she thanked me and said she couldn't wait to spray paint it white and hang it. Yikes! I'm all for spray painting some things, but not an old tole chandy! Oh, well. I bit my tongue and smiled — and she loves it. Guess that's what's important, huh? 🙂

  62. Patti King says

I like this chandelier better than the one you lost. Much more color and it is so "Spring" which will go with all the white you have in your room. The chair is kinda of a non-color so the chandelier will brighten up the room. Just don't let your "little" kitty swing from it.

BTW, I caught one sale at
European Tableware and found the flatware I have been looking for but did not know it. Then I got some etched glasses and a bird soapdish from Treasure House and now I got the birdhouse tassel I wanted. Please don't feature any more goodies – I am liable to buy them 🙂 groan

  63. Halo Hill says

Very pretty. I've been spending a lot of time with my chandelier the past few days. 🙂 It was all orange roses (yes, orange). My Mom had it in her MIL apartment for about 5 years, and I replaced it with a contemporary one when she passed away. Now it turns out that we're moving, so the chandelier will fit in well in our new home (not the orange) I painted the outer petals of the roses light khaki (Tan) and the inner petals white. I'm really liking it. I had toyed with the idea of doing the outer leaves in decopauge sheet music, but didn't quite have the nerve. Love your room!

My husband and I just paid off all our credit cards. That's actually how I ended up here. I'm looking for inspiration to decorate my house of a budget. And finally congratulations on your son's graduation!!! Glad I found you!!
