Isle of Hope Home Tour, Part II

As promised, here are the rest of the beautiful homes facing the marina and Skidaway River in Isle of Hope in Savannah, Georgia. (Click on any picture to further enlarge it.)

The green door was really pretty on this house.

This one was my favorite…it just felt like a storybook home.

Isle of Hope House

Even the tree on the left felt like it belonged in a storybook. Doesn’t it look as if it may come to life at any moment!

~~~SIGH~~~
Great porches!
Isle of Hope Home with Double Porches
Loved the topiaries on either side of the gate.
A final view of this home…
The oaks dripping in Spanish moss really make these homes feel enchanting.
A little closer view…
I love all the white picket fences and there are so many different styles.
Wow! Just Wow!
Home Along Harbor in Isle of Hope
Remember the house I shared yesterday in this Isle of Hope Home Tour, Part 1, the one where I thought they had possibly closed in the lower porch turning it into a sun porch? I wonder if it looked more like this initially, with two large, open porches.
Imagine for a moment, it’s evening time and there’s a bright moon overhead. You can just see it peeking through the branches. You’re standing out on the lawn in a beautiful sun dress and the breezes feel like heaven. There’s a long table here on the lawn. It’s covered with a crisp, white tablecloth and two large, blazing candelabras, one at each end. The table is set with elegant china, crystal and silver and hundreds of twinkling votives. Soft breezes from the Skidaway River gently rustle the Spanish moss hanging from the Live Oaks overhead. Music fills the air and you are surrounded by friends. It’s a wonderful night…here out on the lawn.
Have you ever seen window boxes overflowing like these? Beautiful! This house appears to have a screened-in porch below and another open porch above.
Notice the chimneys on this house…
This house was a fun surprise at the end of the street. I loved the color.
Isle of Hope Cottage
Hope you enjoyed this home tour in the Isle of Hope community.  I still am so amazed that my friend and I just literally stumbled across this truly enchanting neighborhood.  Such a treat I won’t soon forget!
    Wonderland homes in beautiful pictures. Thanks for bringing these wonders right to our living room. I toured Savannah many years ago and was enchanted by the trees, the Spanish moss, lush vegetation and the historic houses.
  7. Oh, how I love the lowcountry! You photos are beautiful. We venture to Hilton Head and Savannah every summer from California. I love the smell of the air when i get off the plane…so rich and humid! These homes are breathtaking, especially the pretty little turquoise one.
  8. They do look like homes from movies. You did pick out the best one for sure. I love how the trees had pushed the ground up at the fence line. No stopping them.
  9. Lettered Cottage says
    Hey Susan!
    I think my friend Jane (Coslick) used to live in one of those houses! She took us on a tour of that whole area one day, and showed us her office, which is just down the street. I'll have to check with her, but I think she used to live in the storybook one!
  10. Barb@curlywillowdiy says
    Porches, picket fences and rocking chairs- the epitome of Southern charm. Big *sigh*.
  11. Susan,
    I love my house. It's small, it suits me and my generous family let me create the spaces and decor I want to…
    So when I stroll through your amazing sharings I usually don't get envious – I love what all thse people (owners) create.
    Well, up until now as I'm so envious of Isle of Hope inhabitants. Love the plush and green surroundings and the cerations people achieved to mingle all until they had fairytale havens.
    Thank you Susan.
  14. Gorgeous homes! Beautiful pictures. We don't have anything remotely close to that style here, I just adore them though. What a warm homey feel they give.
  18. Richard Cottrell says
    I just love the Spanish Moss. I have always dreamed to live somewhere where I could have it. People that have it don't always like it as it does kill trees sometimes. I wouldn't care. There is nothing more Romantic than Spanish Moss blowing in the gentle breeze. Thanks for sharing. I am so jealous i did not get to go. Richard at My Old Historic House.
  19. Love, love, those houses Susan. I am with you already seated at the table. Anyone for a mint julep?
    Have never been to that part of the country but it is on my bucket list!!
  20. Thanks to you, Susan, I went on a lovely vacation while still seated in my jammies in California. Loved it all!
  21. Marianne says
    Such beautiful homes and just love the porches…. I want one of those oak trees with the moss hanging from it. They are very cool looking. My family drove to Florida when i was a little girl and I remember seeing those tress. I loved them than and still do!
    Marianne 🙂
  22. I used to live on Isle of Hope!! Loved riding our bikes on Sunday afternoons down Bluff drive, I used to think that if you lived there you should sit on those beautiful porches and show that you loved it! I was married at the Methodist church there…lovely place. Funny thing is from what you say, I think I live close to BNOTP now…small world!
  23. Karie's Chic Creations says
    I can't believe how beautiful those houses are. Wow! I would live in anyone of them. Thanks for sharing such beauty. Karie
  24. Anonymous says
    Apparently if you have a white house then a white picket fence is mandatory. However, if your house is green then you're allowed to have a metal fence. LOL. Enjoyed the pics..thanks. Robin
  25. Linda (More Fun Less Laundry) says
    Thank you for the tour, Susan! I love your house tours! I agree about the favorite one–that porch is so appealing and it looks like it has double doors on the front. I also like that picket fence with the curved top! Linda
  26. Time to go buy more Lotto tickets so I can retire and move to Isle of Hope. Thanks for taking me on a mini vacation.
  27. The 17th pic down, the one story home, is just exactly what i imagine for Scout, Jem, and Atticus from To Kill a Mockingbird. Very "Deep South" pics, and all lovely.
  28. Love those houses! We are headed to Savannah next week. How far from savannah is this? Thanks for sharing your pictures. I am a regular reader of your blog-although I don't usually leave comments.
  29. Susan (Between Naps on the Porch) says
    Linda, it's only about 10 miles outside of Savannah…very close to Wormsloe and Bonaventure. You can see those and then head over to Isle of Hope.
  30. Thanks for sharing these. Yes, big SIGH.
  31. SavannahGranny says
    Susan, everytime we drive on IOH I expect to see Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer sauntering along that road, fishing pole in tow.
    Did you happen to see the little Methodist Church on block off shore? It was used as a hospital during the Civil War. The original church burned, they saved the pews and they are still there. My daughter was married in that church and my father officiated. Great memories over there. Hugs, Ginger 🙂
  32. Gloria (The Little Red House with the White Porch) says
    Great homes, Susan! And oh, how I loved the picket fences! If I keep wishing, I will hopefully one day have one! 🙂
    Best,
    Gloria
    I wish there were more neighborhoods like this. Absolutely beautiful! The residents of Isle of Hope are fortunate indeed. (The "storybook" house is my favorite, too!)
  36. Greta Street says
    My husband and I honeymooned on Isle of Hope, it a little cottage his family owns. We always walk the bluff when we go down. And right near that turquoise house on the end is where his father proposed to his mother!
