Valentine’s Tablescape

Welcome to the 25th Tablescape Thursday!

Last week I posted a Valentine’s tablescape that was fairly traditional…with lots of that bold color, RED. You can view that post by clicking HERE. This week’s table is all about the color, PINK, and I’m going for silly and whimsical. I pulled my inspiration from this little dish I found on sale right after Valentine’s Day last year at Kohls.

Do you see the pink feather boa around the centerpiece?

Apothecary jar came from Marshalls several months ago…

Found these cute, pink “heart” dishes at Michaels this year for only $1 each…

Salad plate is Homer Laughlin…not sure of the pattern since the name isn’t shown on the back. I found six, 5-pc place settings on eBay for around $35…including shipping.

Bet you recognize this china…it’s the one used on our TT button. It’s made by International and the pattern is Glenwood. Found it while out antiquing one day…got twenty+ pieces for around $14 and then bought some fill in pieces off eBay. Lace chargers are from Horchow online, a couple of years ago.

I joined a Red Hat group when I was only 48 years old. If you are a member in a Red Hat Club and you aren’t yet 50, you can’t wear the true Red Hat Society colors, red and purple. Instead, you are supposed to wear what they call the “watered down” colors, pink and lavender. I like the colors pink and lavender much better anyway…so I was quite happy about that! As you know, Red Hats really dress up when they get together. This cute little fluffy thing was part of a set of wrist thingies…not sure what they are called.

I thought they looked cute around the stems of the glasses in this whimsical tablescape.

Continued the “conversation hearts” theme in my centerpiece…
I used a pink feather boa left over from my Red Hat days, around the base of the jar.

A little closer view…

Around 5 years ago, I received these sweet bees wax candles as a gift from a friend. They are kind of an unusual size and I’ve never been able to find a use for them. I loved how they looked , surrounded by the little conversation hearts.

Candlelight, so romantic…

Speaking of conversation hearts, I was stunned when I stopped during my tablescaping to actually read some of the hearts. Guess Brach’s is trying to keep up with the times…check out these messages… (Email Me, Top Chef and I.M. Me)

I couldn’t resist these edible love notes…found these at Wal-mart…

The pen really works and I ate one…tasted pretty good. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by! Please take time to visit each of the tablescape links posted above. I bet there will be lots of great Valentine’s Day tables…can’t wait!

Susan this is the cutest/sweetest Valentine table! I love it!

Although my table has hearts, in honor of Valentine’s Day, it’s not really a Valentine table. It’s fun, though.

    Hi Susan,

I think doing this on Thursday is a great idea. It works better for me. I’ve been looking at so much tableware lately, everyone is having such great sales. So I didn’t do a table setting this week, but decided to share some of the dishes I’ve found on sale. Although I would have loved to buy some, I was good and just passed it on.

    Hugs

I’ve wanted some of those chargers since the first time I saw yours. They are simply exquisite. I had a pink feather boa on a tablescape for the Tues. that our power went out. Mine was a very inexpensive one, and left pink feathers all over my table! laurie

A BIG Thank you for hosting~

  74. Dear Susan, your table is
oh-so-sweet and romantic! I wish I could join you on March 2 in Marietta. Oldest son lives in Roswell (I lived in Marietta for a year) …. maybe it’s time for a visit?

  75. Beautiful table!

I would love to play with you dishes for awhile…. it would be heavenly!

    Susan

  76. Love the table scape it is so romantic and beautiful. The added little pink fluff is wonderful. Hugs, Bobbi Jo

  77. The pierced chargers are just so gorgeous. I love pierced dishes, and the candy hearts and feathers make such a perfect centerpiece. Such lovely soft pink colors. Very romantic. Hugs, Marty

  78. I think I could get DH to go along with everything but possibly the boa. He would probably ask me if it was still alive. And though it would break my heart, I would most likely acquiesce and remove the boa from his sight. After all, I wouldn’t want to have Valentine’s dinner by myself. And then again, it might put him in touch with his feminine side and he might love it as much as I do. Or he might see how happy I am and decide that “discretion IS the better part of valor” and decide to say nothing. One can only hope that he is as smart as I thought he was when we married.

  79. Dear Susan,

Your table is so inviting, sophisticated and fun! Quite a lovely combination. Candlelight makes an especially romantic setting. Have I already told you how much I love your chargers? I am going to add lace charges to my wish list.

    Happy Valentines Day!

Oh, Susan, the table is just dreamy!!! I love it! Our dining room and kitchen are in a state of chaos right now (we’re refinishing hardwood floors, and we have furniture pulled out of rooms and crammed into others), so I didn’t get to do ANY decorating for Valentine’s Day…in fact, I don’t even think I can GET to my Valentine’s Day decor! So I’ll just have to keep visiting you and looking at all your pretty Valentine’s treasures. So lovely and SO creative!! Thanks so much for sharing!

  105. Hello I just found this post today – Valentine’s Tablescape: The 25th Tablescape Thursday

I sent it to my daughter to look at. We want to use this as an inspiration for the center pieces at her wedding in October. (we will not be using pink of course). I have a question that no one seemed to address. Is the candle in the apothecary jar real? or is it battery operated?

    Thanks

    • Hi Sandi, For that post I used both. In the picture where the lid is on the apothecary jar, I placed one of those small battery operated candles on top of the real candle inside the jar. But once I removed the lid, I lit the real candle. Of course, you could never light the candle with the lid on the jar…lack of oxygen and the candle would go out. Not to mention it would be very bad for the apothecary jar. 🙂 Here’s another post that I think you’ll enjoy and will provides lots of inspiration for the wedding. Congrats to you and your daughter!

I'd love to hear from you! Please leave a comment!
