3 Unexpected Valentine’s Day Tables

Welcome to the 645th Tablescape Thursday, a blog party sharing beautiful table settings for all occasions!

I was feeling a little nostalgic this morning as I was looking back through some of my previous Valentine’s Day table settings. If you are looking for a bit of inspiration for your upcoming Valentine’s Day, you’ll find all the tables I’ve set over the past 12 years for Valentine’s Day here: Valentine’s Day Table Settings.

When you’ve been creating tables for many years, it kinda forces you to get creative and think of different ways to celebrate each of the holidays. Today, I thought it would be fun to look back at three tables I’ve shared previously for Valentine’s Day that are a bit different and not quite what one would probably expect to see in a Valentine’s Day tablescape. I hope these three table settings will offer up some fun or new ideas for your Valentine’s Day table this year!

♥♥♥ Pssst: My favorite tables are ALWAYS the ones that are unexpected! Don’t we all love a surprise?! ♥♥♥

Tablescape Thursday

If you are participating in Tablescape Thursday, please be sure to add your permalink below, and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up. You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate.

That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses and scammers from linking up to sell their products. (Yep, that really happens, unfortunately.) If you see a post that’s not table setting related, let me know and I’ll remove it.

Please, don’t add your post name/blog name ALL IN CAPS…it tends to create big spaces between the rows of links.

Good morning, thank you for sharing the tablescapes with us today. As I was sitting here staring at your red dining room and wishing I had left mine red instead of the change to a lighter color two years ago I was bothered by something and the longer I stared I realized that maybe your lamp shades should be a bit smaller. They are pretty but I feel the size takes takes away from the beauty of the lamp. You probably have forgotten that we had a conversation regarding my hobby of lamp making a few years ago. I made two lamps for my sideboard and it took me a while to get the correct size shade, but I found Lamp Art in Atlanta and they helped me with my current shades. That shop is an inspiration and I imagine you have been there on one of your adventures. Just my thoughts.

    • Thanks, Jean for that suggestion. Those lamps came from Speer Collectibles, a huge lamp manufacturer that was located here in Atlanta for many, many years. Beveryly Hall, Flacks and a lot of the other really highe-end stores used to carry their lamps. I purchased these during one of Speer’s Warehouse sales that they held twice a year. Sadly, the owners retired a few years back, so they are no longer in business. Those are the shades that came on the lamps when I bought them from Speer. In person, they look okay to me. Check them out in this post for a better view. I’ll have to check out Lamp Art one day because I LOVE lamps. Yesterday, I took a lamp to David who owns Flourish Antiques to have it tightened up. David has some beautiful lamps currently for sale. I’ll do a post sometime soon sharing what I saw while there and some of his lamps that he has available. Lamps are one of most favorite, favorite things in the world! I know you feel the same way! 🙂

  6. Thanks for so many great ideas for Valentine’s Day.

  7. Donna Nance says

Such pretty table settings! I’ve been Pinning away!

  8. I love the outdoor pink table; I’m done with red until Memorial Day. And in the first photo, I thought the deer were chocolate at first!

    • lol You are redded out after Christmas, huh?
Yum! That would be some serious chocolate! It reminds me of the two giagantic chocolate Hershey Kisses I gave my grandsons for Christmas! lol They were hilarious when they opened those and of course wanted to eat them every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. 😉

Where did you get your sheer napkins? I haven’t seen them anywhere I usually shop.

    • I found those in a nearby antique shop that also sells new things. I’m forgetting the name now…has Magnolia in the name. They do seem very hard to find. If I can remember the full name of the shop, I’ll come back and leave another comment in case they still stock them.

    • Nancy, I finally remembered the name of the antique store where I purchased the sheer covers. It’s called The Magnolia Room…and here’s their website: http://www.magnoliaroomantiques.com/
I noticed it says they ship on their website. Hopefully, the person I bought the sheers from still has a booth in there. It was just inside the front door…right there when you walked in the door.

  10. Love the red plaid table but what I really love is the standing bunny with the basket do you know if it’s available thanks lillian

    • I found him in Pottery Barn a few years back. They are starting to get their Spring/Easter stuff in now. Here’s one style bunny they have in so far: https://bit.ly/3tzI0zJ
Keep an eye out on their site and they may get some different bunnies in. Also, Williams Sonoma is a good place to look for spring bunnies…Pier 1, also.

  11. Susan, all the tables are beautiful, but my favorite is still the one with the deer – so cute! Thanks for hosting and have a lovely day!

  12. They’re all so lovely Susan! I especially love the bonus tablescape – those light colors just call to me! 😉 Thank you thank you for all the fabulous inspiration! Happy Thursday!

    • Thanks, Barbara! It feels so springtime like outside here today…lots of sunshine! Giving me hope spring will be here before we know it…then lots of bright, light colors!

  13. Love me some whimsy and wouldn’t it be nice to be a guest and have a tray arrive at your bedside? All the tables are beautiful!

  14. Brenda s. Lawrence says

These were all unique and so beautiful Susan! I don’t know if I can even pick a favorite, especially the guest room one. Hugs, Brenda

  15. Thank you for sharing such amazing tablescapes for the month of LOVE. I am smitten with the woodland one and those brown reindeers… are they wooden ones, or what ? Thanks in advance for your answer.
    Happy month of Valentine’s.
    Blessings,
    Fabby

    • I think they are some type of resin, definitely not wood although, they do look like wood until you pick one up. I found those in Lowes quite a few years back, if I’m remembering correctly.
      Have a fabulous weekend, Fabby!

  16. What beautiful and festive table settings.

  17. Cyndi Raines says

Oh my ! A lot of love and work went into each tablescape, all so pretty. Thank you Susan for all that you do, we so appreciate it. You are a sweetheart!

  18. I love looking back, Susan. Your table on the porch attracts me, simply because the sun is shining on it and that just stirs a feeling of spring coming soon! And that table outside – yes! Always inspiring, and 645 times over. Wow! Congrats, and thank you for sharing and inviting us to share too.

  19. Love seeing all the Valentine tables

  20. Jackie Allen says

I love love love all of your tables – sorry it took me so long to post! Great ideas!! Love the playing cards and love the table that is on your porch – so elegant! Happy Valentine’s Day!
    -Jackie

  21. I’m sorry, but I have to disagree w/ Jean from GA regarding the size of your lampshades, which I think are perfect for your lamps. I have a pair of brass
Frederick Cooper urn-style lamps like yours with shades the size of yours, that are just perfect in person – and I’ve received many compliments on.

Also, I think red dining rooms provide the best atmosphere. One of the first things my son did in the new house was paint the dining room “Drum Beat Red” (by Benjamin Moore I believe). It’s gorgeous reflecting its rich red shade in the mirror over the big fireplace with the crystal, silver and candlelight. Adding in the right background music, the whole atmospheric effect is sublime, one could comfortably sit there forever taking it all in. Red is the way to go!

I love your blog! You’re like having another long-distance girlfriend with all the material, tips, et al you share with us, so thank you!
