Celebrating the Red, White and Blue

Welcome to the 354th Tablescape Thursday!

Late yesterday afternoon, as I was just finishing my table for today, a big storm blew in. I quickly grabbed the food I had already placed on the table, along with a few other items I thought would get wet or blow away and made a hasty retreat inside. It stayed almost this dark out for the rest of the evening, even after the worst of the storm had passed. We needed the rain so I can’t complain too much.

Since it was too dark out to photograph the table, I’m sharing links to a few previous tables and dish displays to enjoy, all celebrating the Red, White and Blue! I’ll share the table I was going to post for today, next week. It’s a 4th of July table but hopefully you’ll still enjoy it a week late. 🙂

Oh, before I forget, I just posted a photo yesterday on the BNOTP Instagram page showing how my daughter-in-love, Nancy, has done her nails in celebration of the 4th of July. They are sooo cute!

I’ll be posting photos to Instagram every day from Italy during the 17 days I’m there, as well as while on the Property Brothers Cruise. So if you would like to see those, be sure to follow BNOTP on Instagram. Since it’s so much faster to share on Instagram, you’ll see pictures there before they make it into a post during the period I’ll be traveling.

You’ll find a link to the BNOTP Instagram site in the sidebar or click here: BNOTP Instagram

Have a wonderful holiday weekend! Stay safe, wherever you’ll be celebrating!

If you are participating in Tablescape Thursday, please be sure to add your permalink below, and not your general blog address.

To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up. You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate.

That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses from linking up to sell their products. (Yep, that really happens, unfortunately.)

Please, don’t add your post name/blog name ALL IN CAPS…it tends to create big spaces between the rows of links.

Please do not link up table settings that were just recently shared in the last few weeks for Tablescape Thursday.

  1. I sort of had the same problem with the weather but it was drug out through the week. Today of course after I’m done taking pictures of my indoor table the sun is proudly shining! I will do another table outdoors too.
I haven’t followed instagram in a long time. I got goofed up on it and couldn’t get logged in so I just gave up on it. I should create a new account and check it out again.
I hope you have a nice 4th and enjoy the weekend!
    Thank you for hosting 🙂
    Liz

    • Liz, I so sympathize…that’s what happened to me last week. I spent about 30 minutes taking pictures and they were okay but not that great since it was cloudy out. I went inside and an hour later, the sun came out and it was gorgeous. So I went back out and took them alllllll again and ended up deleting the first ones. Even with my extra lighting that I bring out, if it’s really cloudy, it’s hard to get decent pictures.
I’m starting to enjoy Instagram more and more. It’s so fun to scroll through and see what folks are doing. I hope you guys have a wonderful 4th!

  2. Storms HERE, too!!! Just finished spray painting lanterns (12 years old…used at my son’s wedding!!) red, silver, blue. Put sand in the bottom where the oil used to go…hope that “holds them” on the table. “GO” Fourth! franki

  3. Have a safe and peaceful holiday and thanks for the party!

  4. Hi Susan,
Wonderful tablescapes as always, so festive, you do the best tables in blog
land. Hope you have a wonderful time on your trip and look forward to
    seeing your pictures……….
    Blessings for safe travels,
    Nellie

  5. This isn’t about tablescapes. I wanted to let you know how great the travel purse is that you posted about quite a while back. My sister and I went to London for a week in June. We both bought the purses after I told her about seeing them on your site. I got the stone and she got black. I am so glad you posted about them…..we LOVED them. I have even used mine some since returnig home. These purses will be going with us from now on wherever we travel. Thanks again for the great advice.

    • That’s awesome! I can’t wait to use mine for my Italy trip. Thanks for letting me it worked so well for your London trip. London is on my bucket list…one day! 🙂

I hope you have a fabulous July 4th!!!! Looking forward to your pictures from Italy!!! I am having to live my adventures through you right now!! I did get away for 4 days to Eureka Springs, AR with a girl friend and that was nice. I am still learning my new camera so I am not to your skill level yet on pictures but I look forward to the ones on your Italy trip. Happy 4th!!

That storm came through here too, Susan. It was quite a frog strangler.

That first picture is so pretty. I love the porch when it’s all lit up with lamps like that. 😀 So homey and welcoming looking. And I recognize that hutch in that next picture! I’m sorry I don’t remember her name, but she’s a poster who changes it out in pretty color schemes and has TONS of dishes, lol. She inspired me to try my own hand at dish display. And that last picture is Mrs. Marie’s house, if I am not mistaken. Decorated to the hilt, as always. 😀 Hope you have a wonderful forth!

  8. Thank you for hosting, Susan. I remember your hutch and Marie’s table with the patriotic hats. I love both of those.

  9. Happy 4th Susan! I can relate too dark to photograph on the porch but we desperately need the rain. I haven’t made the leap to Instagram yet, another giant vortex and time continuum I will be sucked into no doubt 🙂 Wishing you safe travels!

  10. I just swoon over your back porch! I love that in the photo above I can see the whole porch with the sitting area as well as the table. I always get a good look at your table when I peruse all your tablescapes, but I had no idea the rest of the porch was so big and so lovely. Happy Fourth!

  11. Susan, that’s disappointing after going to all the work to set it up. I didn’t realize you would get a lot of rain in the screened in porch area. Love seeing the tablescape in the dining room. I don’t think I’ve seen it before. Love the hats! I’m off to look at the original post.
Have a happy 4th be it wet or day!

  12. Happy 4th Susan, I always love to revisit your scapes! Weather is a fickle playmate!

  13. Oh dear Susan, your hutch with the patriotic dishes is awesome! I love the plates and everything else, so gorgeous! Sorry about the rain, it happens a lot here too.
My hubby loved the table with the Uncle Sam’s hats…to cute.
Have a great trip dear and looking forward to your pics.
    Happy 4th. of July.

  14. Happy 4th! I have had some of the same weather issues – resulting in a lot of work with nothing to show for it. However, I still enjoyed your posts from the past. I will definitely start following on Instagram! Looking forward to those posts with the Property Brothers. Thanks for hosting.

Love all your table settings, especially those plates, red white and blue, love those. I have been looking out for some different plates and when i get really serious maybe i will find some. lol

  16. Too bad the lighting was so dark for your table. I bet it was just as fabulous as the others. I am doing my 4th of July Table tonight. Might as well keep the red white and blue all month.

So here are the plates I ordered today! When I first saw them in the catalog and called to see if they were in stock they we all out. They were just being used as a part of a picture. Just so happened last night, I saw they were in stock and on sale!!! So ladies I present to you the basis of my “nautical” tablescape! Still have more to get to finish like sail boats, glasses, napkins, but this is what I will build it all around. What do you think?

    • Love them! I just called my local PB and they had them on clearance, so I got two sets. They were $11.72 before tax. Thanks so much for telling me about these Jeri! I’ve had a table in my head for about a year and this is exactly what I needed to create it.

    • pam ~ crumpety cottage says

I love them too! They are great looking plates. But Susan, I don’t know how you got such a crazy good deal! Do the local stores offer better sales than the website?

      • I asked them about that and the employee I was talking to at my local PB said that whenever they decide that an item isn’t going to be available in the store anymore, they put it on sale for a really good clearance price. That’s what they did with these plates.
When I was in PB tonight, the store was really empty looking. I asked about that and they said they are clearing out all the summer stuff now to make way for fall. So, apparently these plates are one of the things they wanted to clearance out and not offer in the stores anymore. It’s still available online, though.

        • pam ~ crumpety cottage says

Wow, that’s really good to know. Thanks for answering. I might need to make a trip to my local PB and browse around for deals like that.

  17. YAY!!! That was better than what I got them for with my discount. LOL! So glad you loved them. Being a retired Navy Vet this just gave me so many ideas to do a tablescape. So many things I have that are in storage that I got from overseas. Hey!!! “My Journey” Tablescape LOL!

Did you get any more of the animal plates I posted about last night? The Daper penguin is on sale for $4.99 at West Elm. And you should be able to get a clearance discount too.

    • Is the Daper Penguin the one that’s in black and white? My fave were the colored plates. I’ll go check it out, too.
Jeri, something weird is going on. I just got back from picking up the plates at PB (it’s 2 miles from my house) and though it says they are 10.25 inches in diameter, they are only 7 inches wide. They look more like appetizer plates than salad plates. Usually salad plates are at least 8 inches wide. The SKU is the same 6530716 and the box says they were originally $34.50 so not sure why they say they are bigger online. Whatcha think?

      • Oh wow. I wonder what happened. Yes that is weird. I wonder if they are missed ticketed. I would go back and show them and ask them to pull up the website so you can show them that there is a difference. I feel so bad.

        • No we don’t carry them. I just saw them online. I hope they are the right size. I’m worried now. And I feel bad for you too. I feel bad because I showed them to you.

          • You shouldn’t feel bad! I’m glad you showed them to me! They may be fine…just need to try them with a dinner plate. I’m on the phone with PB now. I may order them online and see if those are bigger, even though they have the same SKU. I don’t mind paying more for them to get the bigger size. I want to use them in a “travel” tablescape since I’m so into traveling these days. 🙂

            • pam ~ crumpety cottage says

Ohh!! That would be awesome. It puts me in mind of that other table scape you did that I loved so much, the one with the magnifying glass on a stand. Was that a Mystery Tablescape? These nautical plates have that same ‘exotic’ vibe that that table design had. 😀

              • Yep, I ended up using the magnifying glass in the mystery table but when I purchased it, I was thinking it would look great one day in a travel table. You may remember I had paper on that table that had a nautical map design. That was my original plan…to do a travel tablescape…a Bon Voyage table. 🙂 But I could never find the right salad plates. So these will probably end up in a travel themed table sometime soon. I have travel on the brain these days.

                • pam ~ crumpety cottage says

That will be great! I can already envision it. These plates are really perfect for that. I am really getting the travel bug too.

          • Okay, here’s the skinny. I just talked to a manager at PB. She went into a room where they sometimes have product samples and they had two of the plates there. They are definitely 7 inches wide. She said she’s going to put in a request to get the info online changed. 10.25 (which is what it says online) is more of a dinner size anyway.

  18. i must say, you have a beautiful porch and hutch, I have some of that red, white, and blue dinner ware to, love it

  19. pam ~ crumpety cottage says

All that talk of the mystery table scape sent me on a search to see it again. I really do love it. I am the ultimate mystery buff. But .. *ahem* … I seem to have stumbled upon some posts made by a certain someone regarding lots of fun ‘game’ themed summer table scapes. Haha. Just a reminder. 😛

    • lol Did I promise that? 🙂 That does ring a faint bell. Well, I’m working on one right now in my head that is sort of game themed…so stay tuned! 🙂

  20. Thanks for hosting another great TT, Susan. Hope you have a fabulous 4th!!!!

  21. Susan, I just realized I accidentally linked up my upside-down cupcakes here instead of at Metamorphosis Monday. So sorry! However, I did enjoy stumbling upon all of these awesome tablescapes! Thanks for hosting such great parties. — Amy @ http://www.thegiftedgabber.com
