A 50% Off Sale, A Shirt That Has My Heart, and Something Weird I’m Trying Out

I’ve been going non-stop since getting back home–going through 2 weeks of mail, returning sandals that didn’t fit, getting a very dirty car (on the outside) washed, washing clothes, coloring my hair, creating posts, setting tables, and putting everything back away, and getting a much-needed pedicure. Chipped polish isn’t pretty.

Do you enjoy pedicures? I don’t, just don’t like the wasted time sitting through one. I always say I don’t want the leg massage, but they try to sneak it in any way, maybe worrying it will affect their tip. I always tip generously, be it in a restaurant, car wash, or salon because I appreciate those who do those jobs. I managed to finally get away without a massage this time so I got out of the salon in a more reasonable amount of time. I wish there was a place you could go for an express pedicure–no massage just all down-to-business, an in and out in 20 minutes sorta thing. Anyone else feel that way or do you enjoy the slow pace of the nail salon?

Today, I hopped online to scope out some of the sales. Now that spring is almost over, there are some great sales on spring/summer clothing. One of my favorite places to shop that I have a tendency to forget about is Joules. I’ve never ordered anything from them for myself or for my grandsons that wasn’t as awesome or better than expected. I love their quality! I’ve been eyeing this hoodie since early spring and it’s finally on sale. I think it’s time I added it to my growing hoodie collection. I really got into hoodies this past winter, I love how warm they are and how they really hug your neck. This one is currently on sale here: Hooded Top.

One thing to know about sales at Joules is the good stuff goes fast in the most popular sizes. I think their fans must bookmark and stalk the piece they want because I notice that many of the items I like that are on sale right now are out of stock in the most popular sizes. However, these are available in my size! I think they would be sooo cute with white or blue denim jeggings any time of year–even shorts. I love the bright yellow! They are currently on sale at almost half price here: Rain Boots.

A few years back I decorated the front porch for spring.

Front Porch Bench, Garden Hat, Hunter Garden Boots

I had just purchased these beautiful floral Hunter Boots. (Photo taken before I removed the tag.) To this day, they are my favorite tall boot for spring.

Hunter Royal Holticultural Society Floral Boots

I noticed Joules has some that are very similar and much more reasonably priced. You’ll find them on sale here: Floral Boots.

This gorgeous shirt isn’t on sale since it’s a “new in” item, but I’m in love! I love all the flowers–there’s even foxglove, one of my favorite flowers in the garden!

I don’t expect it to last that long since it’s priced reasonably.

It appears to be lightweight and very breathable–perfect for our hot, humid summers.

If this shirt is calling your name, you’ll find it here: Linen Floral Top. You’ll find everything that’s currently included in the sale here: 50% Off Sale.

Remember this shirt I shared recently that I had just purchased from Talbots. Well, I got an email from them with bad news saying that it was sold out. Not sure if it was a supply issue or what, but apparently they sold more than they had. Arggg. I hope they get more in because I love their linen tunics. When I was shopping in Talbots a few days ago, I asked the associate who was checking me out about it. She said, “You and everybody else is looking for that shirt!” They need to bring it back ASAP! lol

The lemon topiary shirt I purchased this spring is currently 50% off!

It was $44.99 and is half that now. You’ll find it here: Lemon Topiary Shirt.

This beautiful floral shirt is also included in the 50% off sale here: Floral Garden Top.

I was thinking this would be really cute to wear to a 4th of July gathering in a few weeks.

It’s on sale 50% off here: Red, White, and Blue Top.

So many great tops are included in the sale…love this one! You’ll find it 50% off here: Pink Striped Top.

Dresses and Skirts are 30% off…I still love this one!

You’ll find it 30% off here: Maxi Skirt and everything that’s included in the 50% off sale here: 50% Off Markdowns and 30% Off Dresses.

Chronic Sinus Sufferer–That’s Me!

Sooo, totally off-topic, I just purchased this Slanted Wedge Pillow and it arrived today. I’m going to give it a try tonight and will report back. I’ve been fighting sinus issues for the past gazillion years and it’s really beginning to affect my sleep. I love sleeping on a very low pillow–don’t like tall, shelf-like pillows and I’m hoping this will help. I laid down on it briefly today and added my own low pillow to it for neck support. It seemed pretty comfortable.

I occasionally watch a YouTuber who swears by hers. I’ll let you know how I like it after I give it a try this weekend. Have you ever slept on one of these? You’ll find the one I purchased here: Slanted Pillow with Cover.

Have a great weekend!

I love the extra care with my pedicure. A mini-spa treatment and vacation. Very relaxing. You might like this tunic from JJill. (https://www.jjill.com/product/indigo-dip-dyed-shirttail-tunic?color=4TO)

It has the blue to white ombre that your Talbot’s shirt has.

    Enjoy your summer!

    • Thanks for that link, Barbara…that tunic looks nice and so soft. I’m hoping they’ll get more in, occasionally they do that when something sells out really quickly. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Sometimes…I really do wonder…if we’re related… My VERY SAME conclusion to pedicures!!! Most of the time I do believe they are “zoned out”…easily done, I’m an example. I could have written your “to do” list. I Need a closet “re-work”…have a call in to “Container Store”…then, “watch out” SALES!!! franki

    • I had my closet done about two years ago and now we’re moving. I stopped in Container store to see how far they travel. Told sales person my situation and she said, “take your closet with you” I know of several people who have taken theirs to a couple of houses!!! Never thought of that but I’m up for the suggestion!!! Love Container Store..

    • Franki, I would love to see your closet makeover if you end up doing one. I love a great closet reno!

I love a pedicure, it is my calgon take me away time.
    Legs included.
Have you dried gel polish, or the dry powder.
    No chipping.
Great for vacations, cruises, or you want it to last for a good amount of time.

    • I have tried gel on my fingernails when I was going on a vacation and didn’t want to worry about my nails during the trip, but haven’t ever had it on my toes. The regular pedicures usually last me a long time…like 4-5 weeks, so I don’t mind getting it redone at that point. If I had the patience, I’d go more often. lol

Such gorgeous rain boots! They remind me of a classical botanical art piece from a past century. I don’t like massages but really love getting a pedicure. My feet are often sore from wearing wedges and heels to work so it’s such a treat- kind of like when you get a manicure and they massage the pad of your thumb which gets tired from clicking a mouse all day long – such sweet relief! Like you, I despise downtime, so I always make sure to bring my favorite magazine in the world, Victoria, and a cup of something yummy to drink so I can slow down and enjoy. The place I go is quiet, very reasonably priced and clean and I always tip more than the typical 20% to show my appreciation – that is tough work they do all day! I find it relaxing there and it’s much quieter than some of the upscale full-service hair salons where people are talking the whole time and I can’t read a single page. That Talbots skirt reminds me of a LillyP design – I’ve been thinking of getting the matching tunic which has white trim. I ordered the lemon skirt from Talbots this morning – hoping it will be nice for summer Fridays at work.

    • That’s a good idea about taking along a magazine. I usually end up looking at emails or Instagram. I love that skirt…wish I didn’t have hips, I would order it. I may order it anyway. Hope you love the lemon, I’ve really enjoyed wearing mine.

  5. Hello, Susan! I’m in my 80’s and have never had a pedicure. I’ve probably never had more than two manicures. My cuticles are very sensitive and technicians always hurt me. I’m afraid of getting an infection when getting a pedicure.

    Take care.
    Daphne

    • Daphne, I’ve thought about that but the place I go uses new tools each time, or at least that’s what they did when I first started going there years ago. I should ask them about that again, just to verify what precautions they take.

  6. My nail salon has an option that I didn’t know about until someone was seated in the chair next to me and asked for “just a polish change.” It was really quick! I like the whole shebang though 🙂

  7. I used to go to a salon near me for a quick polish change. I loved having my toenails polished. That is until I got a nail fungus and lost my nail. I’ve spent a ton of money on “cures” but the fungus returns. I have lost my toenail three times now. My doctor said it is usually the polish supplied by the salon that is contaminated. No more nail polish for me. Please be aware.

    • Oh, I thought it was normally the tools they use. The salon I go to has been in business 28 years and they use new tools each time, they unpackage them in front of you. I sometimes bring my own polish when I have my nails done. Maybe I’ll start doing that for my toes, too. I only get pedicures during the summer months–so maybe 5 a year. Thanks for that info, Lin.

  8. Joyce Howe says

The wedge pillow is really great. I needed one after my 2020 mastectomy surgery and I continue to use it to this day. I noticed that my sinus issues were better when I slept on it with another small pillow for neck support. Hope it works for you, too.

    • Thanks, Joyce…and thanks for sharing your experience. I think it did help last night! I slept better and didn’t wake up at all until morning. The pillow I ordered isn’t as wide as would like…so I’ve ordered another one that’s a bit wider and longer. The new one will come on Wednesday, wish it was coming sooner than that. Thanks again for sharing your experience.

  9. I completely agree with you about having express pedicures. I don’t like the massages or the endless time it takes. The only reason I go is to have neat polish. When I try to polish my toes I make a mess. I always take my own polish though and a friend of mine takes her own tools and polish in a ziploc bag.

    • Exactly! That’s the only reason I go. I honestly don’t like having a stranger massage my legs. lol I don’t like body massages either. I love the idea of taking your own polish…I’m going to start doing that. Maybe I’ll even take my own tools…awesome idea!

  10. An express pedicure, what a great idea!

  11. I also have a wedge pillow which I purchased to help me with my vertigo issues. It has helped me so much with less bouts of vertigo. Love the floral boots too,

    • That’s awesome! Does it help because it somehow stabilizes the fluid build-up in the ears? It’s amazing all the things sleeping on a slanted pillow can help.

  12. OMG…so identify with this post. I just bought the lemon top…and a little lemon colored bag to go with it. I love it. Have not worn the top yet, but am finding ways to wear the purse and it is such a nice change to have that pop of yellow. I am also having sinus problems…for years I was doing great with Allegra and Flonase and no problems, then I started terrible nosebleeds that would not stop. No fun. Dr. said no more of the meds. I too have been having trouble sleeping. Can’t wait to hear what you thought of the slanted pillow. Hope it helps you…and if it does I will be ordering one.

  13. If your feet/toes are in good shape the next time you need a pedi just get a polish change. It’s quick and much cheaper and is exactly how it sounds. They remove old polish and put on new polish. Done.

  14. There is a company in Georgia that has great sleep products for the bed. Their products include wedges of various types, some with under the knee support, some can be configured in multiple ways, some based on sleep position, etc. They have one that goes under the mattress and elevates the head of the bed without having to use blocks. They have fabulous customer service. The company is Avana. Website is avana comfort dot com. Also, XLear has a line of OTC sinus products. Xlear saline nasal spray with xylitol is the one that seems to be popular. Ingredients are “Drug free” but better than plain saline nasal spray. (They make one that is a nasal decongestant with the ingredient that causes rebound and doctors advise against so be careful you don’t get that one by mistake. The packaging is a different color.) I have found Xlear to be better than some of the prescription ones and other OTC nasal sprays.

    • Thanks, Sandy…yea regular saline never helps. I will look for Xlear one. Thanks for telling me about that. Not sure what company that might be here in GA. If this wedge pillow that’s coming on Wednesday doesn’t work out, I will try to find out about it. The wedge pillow I just bought is a bit too narrow and too short, but the one coming on Wednesday is longer and wider.
