A Beautiful Candlelit Table Setting for a Special Birthday Celebration

Welcome to the 602nd Tablescape Thursday!

A few months back around Christmastime, Warren shared some wonderful photos of a beautiful table setting he created for a special birthday celebration. Warren said, “Since Kathie (Warren’s wife) comes from a large family, we are always celebrating birthdays.”

Warren put this beautiful table together to celebrate the 60th birthday of Kathie’s sister-in-law. Warren said, “In this tablescape, I wanted to showcase our “anniversary china.” Decades ago, Kathie and  I spent a holiday, which included our wedding anniversary, visiting her brother in Chesapeake Beach, Maryland. We went antiquing in this quaint seaside village.

In one shop, we simultaneously spotted and then purchased a charming and beautiful set of ten dinner plates manufactured by Fine Concorde China.  Accordingly, we refer to these plates as our anniversary plates. My attempts to augment the set were futile until the advent of eBay.  We now have about two dozen plates.”

Commenting on the beautiful floral design and ornate, gold-filigree design of the plates, Warren said, “I used this pink and gold theme in this tablescape. A black tablecloth served as my canvas and really made the colors pop.

The plates were placed on gold chargers, purchased at Home Goods. I really like these chargers because of their ornate, brocade pattern.”

Warren said, “Normally, I place the napkins on the plate, but in this case, I did not want to cover the floral pattern of the plate and, therefore, placed the rolled napkins at the head of the plate.

For napkin rings, I used gold/glitter flowers surrounded by pink flowers. I cut up artificial boughs of pink apple blossoms (Michaels) to obtain the pink flowers.”

“A gold, mercury-glass candle holder, surrounded by a gold wreath topped with pink apple blossoms, served as the centerpiece.”

Warren found the gold table runner in Home Goods.

“Gold candelabras with white candles, gold-rimmed water and wine glasses, tealight candles, and gold flatware completed the tablescape.”

Love how the reflection of the candelabras can be seen in the beautiful, glass grandfather clock crafted in 1876 by Warren’s great grandfather. Truly magical!

For this special birthday, Kathie made a delicious birthday cake: a light, flourless, chocolate cake made with whipped egg whites.

Thanks so much to Warren and Kathie for sharing this beautiful birthday celebration!  I’m looking forward to the day when we can all once again gather together with friends and family to celebrate. What a wonderful day that will be!
