A Beautiful Wintry Tablescape in Navy, White and Gold

Have you ever thought about creating an “After Christmas” table? Darlene, a lovely BNOTP reader has had this table in mind for many years and this year she made it come true.

Darlene said, “Wanted to show you my “after Christmas table.” For several years I have wanted to do one, but this year I made it happen.  I was in our Big Lots prior to Christmas and saw beautiful table linens in navy blue with gold accents. I waited until after Christmas was over and purchased the table runner, placemats, and napkins at half price.”

“The china came from Goodwill several years ago and the gold tablecloth was purchased at a Kohl’s after Christmas sale several years back.  The flatware was my mother’s from 1952.  I have had the gold chargers for quite a while.

The brass candlesticks and blue candles were Goodwill finds too. The large cream candle was a gift and the bottle brush trees were bought at Joann’s after Christmas sales about 2 or 3 years ago for this “after Christmas table” if I ever got around to doing it!”

“The beautiful, little blue sleighs were ornaments that came 3 to the box.  I debated about buying two boxes, but chose to get only one.”

“Of course, after I used them on my table, I went back and no more were to be found.  Oh well, live and learn.”

I totally feel ya, Darlene. I think we’ve all done that before, bought something, then later realized we needed a few more but went back to discover they were sold out. Arggg.

Love this table and the napkins are so pretty! I can just imagine how beautiful it is with the candles lit in the evening.

Hopefully, Darlene will come across a few more of the sleighs at some point, they are adorable!

Thanks so much to Darlene for sharing this beautiful blue and white wintery table. It’s so perfect for this time of year!

Remember the post I shared yesterday about ways we can brighten up our homes after the holidays are over? This table would have fit perfectly with that theme, wouldn’t it? Since there’s no way to avoid the cold weather, we can celebrate and enjoy it with a beautiful wintry setting.

Beautiful table, Darlene! I purchased the same napkins from Big Lots.

  4. Blue, white, gold and crystal appeal so much to me. I like the cursive words on the deep blue napkins. Beautiful settings and its fun to read how savvy a shopper Darlene was to assemble this artistic arrangement.
Also, this tablescape suits nautical colors. What better to do in winter than take a cruise?! Or start your new year by booking one?

  5. So pretty!
I change my breakfast room decor seasonally or just on a whim. I use a plate rack that holds 3 small plates and two framed prints on either side of a small china cabinet. I’ve used a herbal theme in January, but it never seemed just right. For a winter theme this month I found navy and white snowflake plates at Pfaltzgraff and two prints from Etsy. The prints feature navy and snow. I bought new navy placements to use with my white everyday dishes. I also keep keep out a few snowflakes and snowman things that aren’t too Christmasy. I always considered navy and white to be summery, but this table is so pretty for winter. I’m happy to see someone else using these colors. Now I need to shop my house for some gold to add to my room!

  6. Love the new table linens: perfect for a wintry tablescape! Love the blue and gold combination and your accent pieces. Nicely done.

  7. Hi Susan,
Navy and blue were our school colors — a lovely table that brought back the years; beautifully done, Darlene!
I just linked to your “Mother Nature” wintry tablescape below — another enchanting, beautiful table, and a sweet and unique idea, as always!
Some time ago you had a post about a website with just nature sounds. A young gentleman’s website, I think. I thought I had it bookmarked, but can’t find it. Would you mind posting a link back to your post on that? It makes a nice background for office work. Thanks, Susan, and welcome home!!

  8. Oops — navy and gold!

That was SO pretty! Navy & Gold! Sleighs were on my table this year, too. Got more compliments…we put chocolate Santas and gold coins. Everyone liked theirs so well they became the “guest gifts.” franki

  10. What a pretty combo of colors and love the sleighs…who knows, maybe they will be available next year too! The navy will be perfect all year round too!

Navy has always been a favourite colour of mine…love this tablescape….I want to try something similar as I have white dishes

  12. So pretty! I use pale blue and white with snowflakes in January, I could work sleighs into that – will have to remember to look for them next December.

  13. So elegant. Love those napkins! And I love the way they look with the gold flatware. Everything co-ordinates so nicely. I hope Darlene can locate more of those little sleighs. I think we’ve all been there, hesitating to buy more of an item, then wishing we had. Thanks for sharing this, Susan and Darlene. So pretty.
