Birthday Celebration in a Blue and Gold Peacock Theme

Welcome to the 593rd Tablescape Thursday!

Hope your week is going great! Can you believe January is almost behind us?! I can’t believe how fast the days go by! Kinda scary, isn’t it?

Just before Christmas, I received some wonderful pictures of a beautiful table Warren created for two special family member’s birthdays. Warren said, “This “Peacock” tablescape, set in celebration of our daughter and her husband’s back-to-back December birthdays, was built on the theme and color scheme of peacock plates.”

Warren added, “My wife, Kathie, found the 222 Fifth dinner plates in Home Goods a few years ago and purchased twelve of them. Ever since then, I have been adding peacock accouterments to the tablescape.”

Blue and Gold Table Setting

This table feels so regal dressed in blue and gold! If you aren’t crazy about a red/green color scheme for your table at Christmastimes, this color scheme would be a beautiful alternative. The gold feels so festive and celebratory, especially with sparkly gold placemats.

Warren said, “I used gold napkins with brass napkin rings.”

“The napkin rings were unobtrusive when the peacock ornaments (from Wal-Mart) were clipped to the napkins.”

You can really see the beautiful Peacock design of the plates in this picture below. Wow, so pretty!

Gold Flatware

Warren said, “I have collected two different sets of beautiful Artland’s peacock wine/water glasses. Unfortunately, the green-blue of these glasses didn’t go well with this particular tablescape. In their place, I used my mother’s blue antique daisy and button water goblets. The gold-rimmed wine glasses were purchased at Home Goods.”

Blue Glassware, Gold Stemware

“By opening up the table to its full nine feet I was able to use placemats for this setting and comfortably seat seven guests.”

Candlelight Table in Blue and Gold

“The centerpiece consists of blue and gold poinsettias placed in my grandmother’s re-purposed blue hobnail pitcher.”

Blue and Gold Floral Centerpiece

“In the surrounding blue garland, I placed peacock Christmas tree ornaments purchased at Macy’s. These whimsical peacock ornaments are not obvious and are a bit of a surprise to the seated diners.”

Oh, I love that! Those little surprises are the best!

Warren, thanks so much for sharing this lovely table setting created for two special family member’s birthdays this past December. Kathie definitely had a great eye when she spotted these beautiful peacock dishes so long ago. You two make an amazing team and create such beautiful tables!

  1. Simply exquisite!

I, too, am a “peacock person!!” Think I’ve got that peacock ornament from shopping at Macy’s…it is “perched” on my Peacock Oriental vases! LUV the table, etc. franki

  3. Lovely pattern! I have a similar one by 222 Fifth. They’ve done. Few peacock themed ones and they’re terrific. Beautiful tablescape with lots of yummy accoutrements.

  4. Selma Kessler says

What a beautiful combination! Well done Warren and Kathie! The daisy and button pattern is SO striking, this is the first time I’ve seen the pattern in blue! Those gold rimmed wine glasses were a great find, too. Isn’t it fun to find treasures like that? Thanks so much for sharing, Susan!

  5. Those plates are just gorgeous and you (Warren) followed through on the theme well. But especially nice is two people had a beautiful December birthday setting that wasn’t Christmas-y!

  6. Beautiful, rich and regal table setting! I love that a husband enjoys joining his wife in creating a beautiful table!!! Love the colors in this “neutral decor” time!

    • Actually, Warren does the table settings. Kathie gives input from time to time, but Warren is the one who really loves creating the tables. Love that, too!

  7. What a gorgeous table – Warren has done it again! I love the peacock plates and the whole theme! Thanks so much for sharing Susan!

  8. Vicki Wells says

Hello, I used to follow a blog about 5 years ago called “Tablescapes”. The woman who had the blog showed her giant pantry where she stored all of her dishes by theme. Then one day she disappeared. I couldn’t find her blog anywhere. Are you the same person who had that blog? Please let me know and if not do you know what happened to her?

    • Umm, not sure that was me. I started the party Tablescape Thursday back in 2008 a week or two after I started blogging. We just had our 593rd Tablescape Thursday party today. I added a bunch of storage to my garage for my dishware a couple of years ago, and some of it is by theme. So I’m not sure if that’s what you’re remembering. In any case, I’m glad you’re here today, Vicki!

    • Vicki, Do you possibly mean the Entertablement blog, which has several links here today? She (Helen Kain) has an amazing storage system and a dishware collection that is more extensive than I could ever imagine. I know I first heard about her blog through Susan’s Tablescape Thursday. Here is a post about Helen’s pantry and her dishware collection: http://entertablement.com/2017/06/organizing-tableware-where-does-she-store-all-that-stuff/

    • Vicki, I think you might be referring to a blog called “The Tablescaper” and it was hosted by Alma. I think she may have been close friends with Kathleen of “Cuisine Kathleen” whose blog has not been updated since January 2018. The Tablescaper blog “disappereared” about 5 years ago, and I think I read that in Kathleen’s blog. You can still look through her blog. They both had the most amazing and beautiful tablescapes and dish collections, I found them at the same time I found Susan’s BNOTP many, many years ago when I googled”dishes” and discovered a world of people with my same crazy obsession with all things décor and table settings! Hope this helps solve your mystery!

    • Was it Bev Hari (not sure if that is the correct name) ? I met her once and she was an older woman.

  9. Carol A Norton says

Oh my! I have (somewhere) my mother’s candelabra she bought when we were stationed in Japan back in the ’50’s. Hers doesn’t have the glass piece at the top, but everything from there down is the same. They can be configured as a single, a double, or the foursome as Warren and Kathy’s are. I spotted her silver pattern quite some time ago, I think I posted about.

  10. Brenda Lawrence says

Wow, what a stunning table setting. Loving the blue and gold together and usually I prefer blue and silver. But the blue and gold work perfectly together with the peacocks plates. Love this one! Hugs, Brenda

  11. This is a beautiful table. The glittery placemats seem to work well with the rest of its elements. I’ve seen this pattern before. Very pretty!

  12. Susan, whatever happened to that lady who lived in Switzerland, I think, and had the most amazing collection of dishes? God, I loved those posts!

    • I’m not sure. Periodically I would hear from her but I haven’t heard from her in a few years. I’m sure she’s fine, probably just very busy. I know she had a very busy life raising two daughters, etc…

  13. What a beautiful and unique table setting! The blue and gold is so elegant. Dazzling peacock decorations.
Thank you for the post about the bee wallets. I ordered one pink and one black this morning right after I read your post. This afternoon I decided to order another black one for my cousin and the black isn’t an option anymore. I guess that color sold out. Glad I ordered mine right away.

  14. Isn’t it wonderful to have friends who set beautiful tables? I am very appreciative of their efforts.

  15. Thank you so much for hosting! This week I am excited to share my creative ways to use vintage containers as vases and my favorite books for parenting teens! Hope you have a great weekend!

  16. GWENDOLYN BLACKMAN says

Those plates are gorgeous. Stunning table.

  17. Gorgeous!!

  18. Cyndi Raines says

Very pretty table indeed! Per yesterday’s post, I ordered the smaller wallet and black was not showing, so I ordered the deep navy blue with the bee. I am sure I will like it as whatever I have ordered that you have given the thumbs up on, I have loved. Thanks Susan. Did I tell you I am LOVING my socks you recommended ? They are so soft and the perfect warmth, without making my feet hot.

    • I love those socks, too! They are the only sock I’ve worn all winter. I purchased a new package that I’m not opening until next winter, just in case I wear these out this winter…as much as I’ve been wearing them. lol I can’t believe how soft they are! And warm! And you are so right, they are the perfect warmth. I guess it’s because they are wool, a natural fiber. Glad you love them too! I hope you love your wallet when it arrives. I really like the rose-colored one I have. They are so reasonably priced, I ordered a few more in different colors. They have to be one of the best deals I’ve ever discovered on Amazon.

  19. Beautiful table for a celebration. Especially like the closeup pic of the plate and silverware (or should I say goldware?). Love the use of the peacocks too.

  20. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the pop of blue!! Gorgeous!

  21. I love those plates. I have collected peacock items for several years in hopes of making a peacock wreath or Christmas tree. Had the prettiest blue, green, purple mask. Well, until the kittens found it !
