A Delightful Alice in Wonderland, Cheshire-Cat-Themed Birthday Celebration

Welcome to the 654th Tablescape Thursday, a blog party sharing beautiful table settings for all occasions!

Last week I shared a delightful, whimsical Alice in Wonderland table setting Elena created in celebration of her daughter’s birthday.

There were little ones present at this birthday celebration, too, so Elena set the cutest table for the kiddos going with a Cheshire Cat theme.

The Cheshire Cat is one of my favorite characters from the Alice in Wonderland tale. I love cats and the Cheshire Cat’s silly ways always crack me up, not to mention that huge, huge grin!

Elena found a non-breakable, Cheshire-themed dinnerware set that was perfect for the children’s table. The plates are designed by Romero Britto for Disney and they are super colorful!

This Cheshire Cat cookie jar worked great as the centerpiece for this fun table.

Describing this adorable children’s table, Elena said, “When I do a family party, I go all out in the dining room with the Waterford crystal, china, and other delicate items—for the adults at the table. We always have little ones at these parties, so I set a kid’s table in the kitchen nook. I always try to make these tables colorful and fun for kids–and I try to have as many unbreakable things as possible as part of the tablescape.”

Love the dinner plates! They perfectly describe my household about half the time! 😉 About this dinnerware pattern, Elena said, “I was inspired to do this table when I found Disney, Britto Cheshire Cat plates on eBay. These plates are no longer in production. I managed to acquire five of these plates which are made of ceramic; I’m still hunting for a sixth plate since the kid’s table seats six.”

The iridescent, rainbow flatware Elena chose goes so perfectly with the colors in this table setting. She found her flatware on Amazon. I did a search and found quite a few sets from simple to quite ornate here: Iridescent Flatware.

I just love, love, love all the fun colors and textures in this tablescape! Did you notice the adorable Cheshire Cat napkins that Elena made for this table setting? Sooo cute!

These non-breakable Cheshire Cat glasses are perfect for this child-friendly table. Elena added the Cheshire kitty decals to the glasses to fit with the theme of her table. Such a great idea!

Elena even found Cheshire Kitty salt and pepper shakers for her table!

So many fun details! I just noticed Absolem is on the other side of the glasses. Too funny!

If you are participating in Tablescape Thursday, please be sure to add your permalink below, and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up. You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate.

That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses and scammers from linking up to sell their products. (Yep, that really happens, unfortunately.) If you see a post that’s not table setting related, please let me know and I’ll remove it.

Please, don’t add your post name/blog name ALL IN CAPS…it tends to create big spaces between the rows of links.

  1. Cute table but especially love the plates.

    • I also absolutely LOVE the colorful smiling face Cheshire Cat plates. Somehow I stumbled across these on the internet about a year ago. They’ve been out of production for a while, so they’re hard to find. I’m lucky I found five of them, but I’d really like 6 because that’s how many I can fit at the kids’ table. Have a great day!

  2. Hi Susan,

What a colorful table for a child’s birthday party!! Thanks so much for hosting Tablescape Thursday, and have a great weekend!

    Hugs,

    Denise

  3. That is SO cute! I’d love to be a kid at one of Elena’s parties – they must feel so special at a fancy table like that! 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing it and for hosting this amazing party. Happy Thursday!

    • I try to make my one and only grandson feel really, really special on his birthday and at other family gatherings. I think I’ve actually had the most fun doing kids tables which include: Thanksgiving and Easter kids’ tables, a Grinch Christmas table, the Cheshire Cat table, a great white shark table, and a Godzilla table. The Godzilla table was awesome and hilarious. The centerpiece was a huge 2 ft by 2.5 ft Godzilla rubber figurine and my husband and I made skyscrapers (painted black with yellow windows) out of 2 and 3 ft sections of square wooden fence posts. I even found a Godzilla tablecloth and made napkins out of Godzilla fabric LOL. We had Godzilla stomping around in some city filled with skyscrapers, just like in the movies. My grandson and his cousins went nuts over the Godzilla table. :0)

    • Barbara, me too! I could pretend to be a big kid again to sit here. 🙂

  4. Cute tables for the kiddoes !
Hope you enjoyed your Easter Sunday dear Susan.
Thank you so much for the Tablescaping party.
    Enjoy the weekend ahead.
