A Feather Tree for Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day! Hope you are having a lovely one!

We are having some amazing springtime weather here right now. The daffodils are already up all over my yard, though not blooming yet. Whenever this happens early, I always panic a little, fearing they will get frozen when the cold weather returns. Then I come across photos like this on my computer and remember it’s not the first time daffodils have made an early appearance.

Valentine's Day Feather Tree

Daffodils in February–I love it so much!

Daffodils for Valentine's Day

The heart garland was made using a bit of jute yarn and some pink mercury glass hearts found in (I think) Marshalls that year.

Pink Mercury Glass Heart Garland, DIY Craft

I used the softest, sweetest curly pink yarn to hang little red mercury glass hearts from the branches of the feather tree. The feather tree was a find many, many years ago in Michaels, marked down to half price. I’d never seen a feather tree before and had no idea how I’d use it, but it was marked down so low I decided to bring it home. It works well for Valentine’s Day and would probably be fun to play with for Easter. I don’t think I’ve ever used it in my decorations for Easter. Ummm, may have to try that this year.

  1. I would love to have a feather tree. I have looked and looked but have never found one. I love your decorated tree for Valentines Day.

  2. I love your feather tree and the heart ornaments, can never have two many hearts!

Also love my many types of daffodils and jonquils, but here in WNY it will be weeks before they poke thru. We do have a sunny day today!

  3. Bonnie Gutierrez says

So cute and so sweet! Happy Valentine’s Day to you also!

  4. What a great idea. Brightens up the day – thanks

  5. Love the feather tree with hearts. We are fretting because our blueberry bushes are budding, a hard freeze will get the buds. Same thing happened three years ago and we had a very small blueberry crop.
    Happy Valentine’s Day!

  6. My daughter has a feather tree but never thought of using it for Valentine.
I noticed the little quilt type heart in all of its finery. It’s amazing what can bring back special memories. I wish you a lovely Valentine day.

I have a very old feather tree, but i don’t do Valentines, but thank you for this cute heart tree, i enjoyed it.

  8. Beautiful tree and beautiful heart ornaments. The tree would be gorgeous for Easter and emerald shamrocks would be nice for St. Patrick’s Day. Isn’t it nice when you find a bargain that turns out to be so versatile fun to use? Love it❤Happy Valentine’s Day ❤

  9. Love your Valentine’s feather tree!!! I live in N.C. and our daffodils are all up as well. Just hoping they don’t bloom too early!!

  10. Tabletop trees are so versatile. I have a feather tree I use at Christmas that looks just like yours. Feather trees came from Germany but they had a different look, more like Charlie Brown’s tree.

When I was a teenager, I gave my grandmother a feather tree after my mother told me a sad story about a Christmas during the depression when they could not afford a tree and put gifts on a table. I decorate a historic house for Christmas teas so I believe everyone should have a Christmas tree.

  11. Brenda Smith says

Mine is white too , but not as fluffy as yours . I decorate it for Christmas , Valentine’s Day, St Patrick’s Day , Halloween and some years for Thanksgiving . My grandchildren love it!

  12. I’ve always loved your feather tree and would love to find one, but it would have absolutely NO home when not in use! Therefore, I will just enjoy yours. Wishing you a beautiful Valentine’s Day, Susan!

  13. Brenda Smith says

… and also Easter .., how could I forget Easter !

  14. The feathers are such a perfect textural opposite of the glass hearts. Love the pink heart garland with rustic twine. More flower photos please; while temps are more mild than usual, it is still cloudy and dreary.

  15. There’s a naked bird somewhere that gave up his feathers for a very good cause. It’s beautiful.

  16. There is just something about Valentine’s Day. What is not to like: hearts, flowers and chocolate? I think your feather tree is lovely, thank you for sharing it with all your followers. MM

  17. That fur tree is lovely. Thank You for sharing.

  18. Hi Susan~ Lovely tree!

    Happy Valentine’s Day!!

  19. Love it! I would love to have one of my own!

  20. Susan, you are a dear. We have a dozen blueberry bushes, so quite a loss for us if a freeze damages them. Wish you were closer I would be happy to share the crop.

  21. Elizabeth Ann says

Susan,I love the sweet Feather Tree. I have three white feather trees that I made after ordering the white feathers on line. I display them during Christmas holiday. I top the three different size trees with a gold star made from an ornament hanger. I love your idea to use the tree for Valentines Day and Easter. This will be fun for all of your friends. Happy Valentines Day!

  22. That combination of feathers, Valentines, and spring’s promising daffodils really recharges my soul. I think that tree would be remarkable for Easter, St.Patrick’s Day… a rooster party in Summer, 4th of July…. lol. In short, I am kind of in love with it! Your garland idea is really cute. Jute is just so versatile. Elegant, primitive, cabin… farmhouse, French country… not-so-much Outer Space tho… Silliness has set in. Better brew a cup of tea and power down tonight. I absolutely love your blog.

  23. Love it!

  24. Happy Valentine’s Day! We’re still trying to melt 14.5 inches of snow here in Illinois! No flowers around here yet!

  25. I love the pink hearts! I do 2 trees at Christmas, one Victorian style and have hearts on it that have roses on them! I use pink, white, silver and turquoise decorations. Never thought of doing a Valentine tree.

  26. A pretty touch for Valentine’s Day, Susan. Hope your day was filled with sweet treats and lots of love.

  27. Such a beautiful Valentine tree Susan!….I am seeing Daffodils pop up around here too! I think I need to buy some in pots and plant them as I hear the deer do not like them!! Hope you had a very lovely Valentine’s Day!!

  28. Oh, I love that feather tree. If I had seen one marked down like that, it would have followed me home for sure! And yes, it would be lovely for Easter as well as for Valentine’s Day. I am a day late reading this but I hope you had a nice Valentine’s Day. I’m looking forward to Tablescape Thursday, I always enjoy seeing all the pretty tables.

  29. Thank you for my Valentine! So pretty.
That is such a huge bouquet of daffodils; you must have a zillion in your yard! Mine are blooming now too. I have a miniature called Jumping Jack and it is so cute. I found a deal at Marshall’s just yesterday!

  30. what did you use for the skirt…it looks lovely rls

  31. Say what….daffodils!! I’m SO ready!! franki

  32. Cyndi Raines says

Always enjoy your posts! Where did you get your white feather tree?? I think I need one!

    • Thanks, Donna! I found it in Michaels several years ago around Christmastime. That was probably around 6+ years ago now. It was on clearance at the time.
