A Gorgeous Tablecloth Was the Inspiration for this Beautiful Table Setting

Welcome to the 675th Tablescape Thursday!

I am often asked where I get inspiration for the table settings I create for dinner parties, family gatherings, and Tablescape Thursday. Sometimes inspiration will come from the season we’re in or a holiday that’s coming up. Or, inspiration may come from a new set of salad plates, or even something as simple as new napkin rings. It’s so fun and exciting when that happens–when a single element sparks joy and get those creative juices flowing.

That’s exactly what happened to Elena recently when she came across a strikingly beautiful tablecloth! Elena has created a truly beautiful tablescape around this gorgeous tablecloth.

Elena purposely chose to keep the other elements in the table setting elegantly quiet so they would not compete with the beauty of the tablecloth.

Here are a few close-ups of this lovely tablecloth. Elena found this tablecloth at Yvonne Estelle’s online. It’s part of the Beauville Igor Cardinal Collection.

The description says that it’s 100% cotton satin, handpainted, and was created using a sophisticated silk-screening process, using up to twenty different colors. When I saw that Beauville tablecloths are made in France, it made me think of Hermes and the intensive, multi-step silk-screening process that goes into making their iconic silk scarves.

The colors are so vibrant and beautiful!

Elena created an elegant centerpiece for her table using her Waterford crystal candlesticks down the center of her table. Her stemware is also Waterford.

I’m crazy about Elena’s monogrammed napkins! She purchased her napkins from here: Elegant Monogrammed Napkins. There are so many beautiful styles and colors available, I  would love to order some of these in the future.

Monogrammed Linen Napkins

I asked Elena about her beautiful monogrammed Lenox china. Elena said, “I bought my monogrammed platinum Lenox from Lenox online, but that was at least 10 to 12 years ago. At that time you could order a 3-letter monogram (choice of 2 or 3 script fonts) for the Eternal Gold and Eternal Platinum collections. I looked at Lenox tonight, and I don’t think Lenox does that kind of monogramming anymore. There are the “Federal” plates which look similar to Eternal, but they only do one monogram letter and it’s a block font.”

Elena paired her beautiful Lenox Eternal Platinum china with these blush-pink chargers. These chargers are still available in a lot of pretty colors here: Chargers and here: Chargers.

Thanks so much to Elena for sharing this beautiful table setting inspired by a very special tablecloth!

  1. Very elegant. So pretty. Thank you Elena for again sharing your talents and Susan, for showcasing them.

I had never heard of Yvonne Estelles before and moseyed on over for a look-see. Wow, there are some gorgeous things there. I’ve never seen so many beautiful tablecloths in one place! And the serve-wear – she has some gorgeous gravy boats! Lol (I can just imagine people who don’t ‘get’ our love of table-scapes scratching their heads at that comment. 😀

Elena, I always lament that my invitation must have gotten lost in the mail. But I’m so happy you have a wonderful family and friends for whom you prepare your lovely table settings. I hope you enjoyed that day together.

    • Thanks Pam, I appreciate your kind words. I could get myself in a lot of trouble falling in love and buying things from Yvonne Estelles. I don’t remember how I discovered Yvonne Estelles, and also these gorgeous Beauville tablecloths.

  2. Warren Giering says

Elena, you did a great job with such a bold and beautiful tablecloth. The crystal, plates chargers and napkins work perfectly together. Thanks for sharing.

    • Thank you Warren. I feel lucky that I already had plates, crystal, flatware and napkins which look good with the new tablecloth. I didn’t have to go shopping store to store, trying to find something for this tablescape. Happy Tablescape Thursday!

  3. That tablecloth is gorgeous, and certainly the star of the show, but the whole tablescape is elegant and lovely.

    • I fell instantly and foolishly in love with this tablecloth when I stumbled across a photo of it. The vibrant colors and the meticulous design details really knocked me out. Have a great Tablescape Thursday!

  4. Jackie Allen says

So Elegant – like Royalty. Thank you for sharing. Must look up Yvonne-Estelles Tableclothes! Thank you for sharing.

    • This tablecloth makes me feel like royalty LOL! The tablecloths at Yvonne-Estelles are to die for, especially the Beauville ones.

  5. Lovely setting and the blush on the chargers is the perfect complement to the tablecloth.

  6. Hi Susan! Oh, Elena’s tablescape is so lovely and that table cloth! How pretty is that! Her monogramed plates – I don’t think I’ve seen anything like that before. Very impressive. Thanks for hosting this lovely party. I hope to join you soon.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia 😉

  7. Sandra Sweeney says

No wonder she fell in love with that tablecloth – such fine detail and rich colors! Gorgeous!

I have a very practical question. How does one launder fine table linens like the ones on Elena’s table? I remember when Johnson’s Linens in Medina, New York used to launder table linens sent to them from all over the country. But they’re no longer in business. I’d be hesitant to use the linens I have – which are not as elegant as Elena’s – unless I was sure I could get them clean. That, or serve non-staining foods and stemware full of water!

    • Hello, I’m going to be REALLY careful when I wash this tablecloth LOL! The label says it’s 100% cotton and you can machine wash in hot water. The only special instruction is to iron on the BACK side of the tablecloth, presumably because the intricate designs are painted on the front side. I intend to wash the tablecloth by hand in cold water (using Tide and Shout spot remover if needed), and dry it on a drying rack. Because the colors are so vibrant and the art work is so intricate, I think it would be hard to find a small spot or food stain.

      • Sandra Sweeney says

Ah – that’s the solution, Elena! Select table linens that are detailed and vibrant so that any “oopsies” don’t show! The colors and design are just beautiful – I can see why you bought it and added those chargers to your Lenox plates. May you enjoy many, many delightful meals with family and friends over that tablecloth!

  8. Just beautiful!

  9. So, so beautiful! Old world elegance.

    • Yes, Linda, that’s exactly what I thought when I saw this beautiful tablecloth–Old World elegance. It’s like the whole tablecloth is a beautiful painting, rich in colors and details.

  10. So beautiful and striking. What is the pattern of the tall Waterford candle holders?

    • Hello, I bought these at least 3 or 4 years ago from ShopHQ/Evine. The tall pillar candle holders are called “Waterford Triumph” by Jorge Perez. He used to be the full-time spokesperson for Waterford on ShopHQ.

These candle holders are no longer available on ShopHQ but you can probably find them on eBay or other sites which sell vintage Waterford Crystal. Good luck, I love these candle holders, they are just GORGEOUS.

Yikes, I just checked EBay, the seller wants $750 for the pair! I definitely didn’t pay that much.

      • Thanks so much Elena. yes I watched Jorge Perez for years on Evine. In fact I purchased the seahorse candle holders. I have been looking on eBay for Waterford tall pillar holders but Mose are only 7 inches tall( except for the Marquis) when I saw yours I got so excited. Thank you for all the information. I’ll just keep checking!
        Happy Labor Day

  11. Martha Karen Lovell says

Beautiful! Thank you for sharing! I looked at the napkins and did not see that font on any of those shown. Were they one of the custom monograms? I’m in love with the monogram! I want a set for myself.

    • Hello, if you go to Robins Nest on Etsy, you will see sample napkins/fonts from which you can choose. I’ve bought three sets (of 8) of monogrammed napkins from Robins Nest, she does impeccable work.

  12. Ruth Miller says

Oh my goodness! That is the most striking and gorgeous tablecloth I have ever seen. What a show stopper!! I am off to check them out but guessing they are going to be very dear. It was a pleasure to see it this morning!

    • Beauville tablecloths are pricey for sure! I opted for a full size dining room tablecloth (67 by 114 inches); the price made me cringe, but for me, it was worth it. A less expensive option is buying the smaller square tablecloth (67 by 67 inches) and using it as a table topper, laying it diagonally on top of a plain colored full-sized tablecloth. The square tablecloth is about half the cost of the full-sized tablecloth. Still expensive, though LOL.

I’m reaching the point in my tablescaping life where I’m going for “bucket list” items, beautiful things I would not thought of buying ten years ago.
