In The BNOTP Library: A Passion For Blue & White

As I share my fave books from my decorating/gardening library, I’m trying to make a conscious effort to not feature the same author twice in a row, but I just couldn’t resist sharing one more Carolyn Roehm book today because I just love it so much! If you love decorating in blue and white, this is THE book to have. I have a number of books on decorating in blue and white and none of them compare to this one.

A Passion for Blue and White

3 Things I Like About This Book:

  •  Photography is beyond gorgeous. Just like Carolyne’s other books, this book is filled to the brim with breathtaking pictures. They evoke so much emotion and are so beautiful it’s almost painful!
  • If you love decorating in blue and white, this is the best book I’ve ever seen on the subject. It features beautiful rooms (both inside and outdoor spaces) furniture, pottery, flow blue, wallpaper, linens, everything you can imagine for the home in blue and white, all accented with beautiful flowers.
  • The floral arrangements are so beautiful! No one can touch Carolyne’s innate ability to create stunningly gorgeous arrangements.

You can read more about this book, A Passion for Blue and White and preview it at Amazon (where I usually order my books) via the picture link below. Or, just search for the book by title at Amazon and it will pop right up.

This lovely library of yours is costing me money! I thought I had a decent decorating library, already, but after seeing Martha’s New Old House, At Home With C. Roehm and Antiques at Home, I decided I couldn’t live without them. I bought them used at Amazon for $4.00, shipping included. Thanks!

    • lol Sorry about that! 🙂 I buy used about 85% of the time on Amazon, as long as they say “Like New” or “Very Good” and have a really good description and the seller has good feedback. I stay away from sellers with bad feedback. I don’t like buying books that were previously in libraries because they have stickers everywhere and are stamped all over the place with the name of the library. If I accidentally order one of those, I usually just donate it. But so many of the books I’ve purchased, love and will be featuring can be found on Amazon for really low prices. I have one that I’m going to share in the next few days that unfortunately has gone up instead of down…have no idea why unless there’s just a limited supply of it. But most of the books I feature can be found Used for reasonable prices or even for pennies. Sounds like you got some awesome deals, Kathy! I’d much rather get a beautiful hardbound book for $4 then spend $7 on a magazine full of ads. That’s what first got me hooked on buying books on Amazon, when I realized so many of them were cheaper than decorating magazines.

  2. They are absolutely exquisite books. I didn’t know she pronounced her name..Caroline Rome! Who knew…not me! 🙂 franki

    • Franki, I thought the same thing when I listened to The Skirted Roundtable interview with her. I always thought it would be pronounced like row-em…with two syllables.

This book looks great. I do not have this one,but always wanted it. It is wonderful when there are a lot of photos of rooms and tables. Love blue and white china! My whole kitchen glass cabinets house my Chinese blue and white collection. Susan, I really enjoy your library blog. There are so many wonderful decorators out there. I think if I did it all over again I would go into Interior Design. I bet you would too. Must be a fun job spending other people’s money. Just pleasing everyone can be difficult.

    • Yep, the pleasing part wouldn’t be much fun. lol So glad you are enjoying the library post! I love creating them because I get ridiculous excited over books with beautiful interiors. 🙂

  4. Geez, I wish I had the money I’ve spent on decorating magazines over the years, starting in 1972 right out of high school! I wouldn’t have to worry about our retirement years, I’ll tell ya that! Ha! My hubby makes me cull through them every now and then to avoid one of those ‘hoarder’ sitches~~snork! Now he wants me to scan them and save to the computer…but I like to touch them and turn the pages…and drool. OK, that sounds creepy. ; )

    • Denise, I right there with ya. lol I mostly always bought the Christmas editions…could never resist those. I’ve held onto all my Colonial Homes (which became Classic Homes) and my Traditional Homes magazines, could never part with those. A few years ago I went through some of the others I had bought and tore out the articles I really wanted to keep. That helped me cull down a bit. I still love to go through my old Colonial/Classic Homes and Traditional Homes and drool! So that doesn’t sound creepy at all to me! 🙂

  6. I have this book too! It is gorgeous to feast your eyes on! I bought mine through Barnes & Noble as a discounted item from another source. They also have listings like Amazon with new and used.
