Welcome to the 359th Tablescape Thursday!
Summer has been flying by for me this year. Has it seemed that way for you, too?
It’s still plenty hot here in Georgia, perfect weather for a beach and sea life inspired table setting! Recently, Elena put this wonderful table setting together with adorable plates sporting some rather cute sea creatures.
Elena chose a rustic lantern with a rope handle to use in the centerpiece of this sea life tablescape.
She found the lantern in Michaels. I love the rustic look of it! It makes me think of driftwood, perfect for a beachy table setting.
The beautiful Sea Life table runner was a find this summer and is available here: Sea Life Table Runner
The Sea Life salad plates are the star of this table
Each plates features a different sea creature. Sooo fun!
These cute plates are still available for purchase here: Sea Life Salad Plates
Elena carried out her sea life theme beautifully using little silver crabs to hold the place cards. The beautiful sea-blue crystal stemware is Waterford Aqua.
The crab place cards are so adorable, the crabs are holding the place card in their claws. 🙂 Elena found those in Pottery Barn last year.
The two large lobsters on either end of the table are from HomeGoods.
Such a wonderful table for a summer dinner party!
Cute, cute pitcher! The tail creates the perfect handle.
Elena has named this guy Mr. Sharkie and he is cooler for beverages!
Here’s how he looks when filled with ice and drinks. He’s still available for purchase here: Shark Beverage Cooler
Thanks so much to Elena for sharing this fabulous tablescape with a Sea Life-Beach theme. It’s just the inspiration we need to enjoy these last hot days of summer.

If you are participating in Tablescape Thursday, please be sure to add your permalink below, and not your general blog address.
To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up. You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate.
That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses from linking up to sell their products. (Yep, that really happens, unfortunately.)
Please, don’t add your post name/blog name ALL IN CAPS…it tends to create big spaces between the rows of links.
Please do not link up table settings that were just recently shared in the last few weeks for Tablescape Thursday.
So cute! One of the best sea tablescapes I have seen…Christine
Cute tablescape! Makes me feel like heading to the Beach today! I love all of the colors in the runner & plates, you could put just about any color with it. It is still extremely HOT down here in Louisiana, can’t wait for Fall!
Hi Susan, When I look at this cute tablescape, I start longing for the beach all over again!! Not much nautical decor available here in Ohio (wonder why?) so I am off to check out Pottery Barn online to see if they still have some of the nautical decor on this table available. Susan, thank you for hosting each week! Christine
I can almost smell the salt water!
Thanks for sharing this with us Susan. Elena did a terrific job with this fun sea life tablescape! The coordinated plates and runner are fantastic but how she tied it altogether is brilliant. Love those crab placecard holders! Thanks for hosting this terrific party each week Susan!
Oh what a great sea themed tablescape! I’ve been trying to get myself to do one all summer…I better hurry up before it’s done! I love those sea life salad plates- they’re so expressive! That shark beverage cooler is quite something! It makes a statement doesn’t it! I saw that in the catalog and wondered what else could be done with it. I imagined some taper candles standing up in there perhaps with some artificial green material to look like seaweed. I hope to keep seeing summer posts until at least September! Everyone rushes to fall too quickly!
Lovely colors, just reminds you of the sea. Cool off, it is so hot here in Okla. I can’t wait for Fall.
Love this! What a great end-of-summer treat! (I go back to work the 12th, so it really is the end for me.)
Elena’s table is beautiful! I love the runner and never would have guessed the plates were melamine!!! I may just get a set (or 2)!!! Thanks for shring her pretty table and for continuing to host. I still love setting tables and partying here!!!! XO, Pinky
What a fabulous table Susan! Elena has collected so many beautiful things! She can keep the shark though, that creeps me out! Thanks for the party today!
lol Jenna, you are too funny! Mr. Sharkie is your friend! 🙂
Hi Jenna, I bought Mr. Sharkie specifically with my 6 year old grandson in mind. He has told me, “When I grow up I want to be a shark.” :0)
Oh what I could do with those lobsters! Without question they would get lots of use as lobster dinners greet every from away visitor. It’s such fun to share everyone’s creativity.
Hi American Cousins! I am relatively new to your lovely art of Tablescaping here in the South of England, and so far I love every one I have seen!! Our shops do not have the lovely choice and imaginative items you have, so it is more difficult doing here, and a lot more expensive! Thank you for sharing.

Thanks, Fiona! I love your name! So looking forward to visiting England one day…on my bucket list!
I love everything about this tablescape, especially the colors.
Great table for a sea theme. I love the gray-blue chargers, the runner and the fish pitcher. Really terrific.
Big hugs dear Susan,
FABBY
Elena has created a charming “by the sea” beach tablescape. I love the shark, the lobsters and the pewter looking crabs, they make a wonderful unexpected statement on this “sea worthy” tablescape!! I saw where the plates are on sale at a great price at the Pottery Barn link (certainly worth going back to take another look at them), I love the sea-life graphics on the plates as well as the table runner.
I hope to link a post tomorrow, Have a wonderful evening….. Candy
This sea life tablescape is so cute. Elena set a really fun table. I love the plates, of course, and the runner is a great compliment to the whole setting. Have to say that I love Mr. Sharkie!!!!!
The crab place card holders are so cute! The table has a very New England-ish feel. Love the nautical look! Thanks for sharing Susan!
Elena sure put together a wonderful table setting with those cute sea creature plates! I love everything about the table, and it was so tastefully done. Thanks for sharing Susan!
Much thanks to you all for your very kind words. I loved doing this tablescape and I especially love Mr. Sharkie. I am so grateful to have found Susan’s wonderful blog. BNOTP has inspired me to indulge in a completely new hobby–tablescaping–which I enjoy very much.
So many great details! Love those whimsical little crabby place card holders. 😀 And the lobsters at the ends of the table. And those dinner plates are such a pretty color; I love the rope edging. The blue glasses are so elegant and the color is perfect for a beach / sea themed table. The lantern reminds me of driftwood, as well. Great job, Elena. Thanks for sharing.
What a great tablescape! We must have been thinking alike – after spending a wonderful week at the beach last week with my family, I did a “budget” version using some aqua salad plates from Home Goods, on clearance, 4 for $5! They feature a palm tree rather than the sea creatures, but still “beachy” in theme. I also found two linen tea towels there with seashells printed on them, which I’m using as a table runner. I think those were $5 for two. I have a few aqua glass pieces and am using my pale yellow goblets – they don’t “match” but they have the same feel. A few shells I picked up on the beach, and a starfish, complete mine – but I will be on the lookout for a lantern, I love the way that looks as a centerpiece. Thanks for all the inspiration!
Great job, Elena! So many unique items featured!
Thanks for hosting, Susan!

Just happened upon your site via a share on FB. The share was of the Coastal Tablescape. It is fun and sets the mood for a wonderful seafood dinner. Would I be sounding too curmudgeonly if I commented that it seems doing a tablescape like that one could very well add up to a large sum of “shekels!” Not having read all the other posts on tablescapes, I was wondering if your friend ever does them with found objects or with a small budget in mind?
Linda, check out the beachy table settings on this page. https://betweennapsontheporch.net/category/themed/beachy/ Click on any of the links to get some additional idea for beach/nautical themed table settings. When it comes to table settings, you are only limited by your imagination. For a budget friendly table, but some plain white dinner plates at Big Lots or Walmart or any discount store, then pair them with delightful beach/nautical salad plates from a discount store like Marshalls, HomeGoods or TJ Max. All those stores have really cute beach plates each spring/summer. You can also find nautical themed salad plates at Kohls, Cracker Barrel, Tuesday Morning, Ross and other stores. The prices aren’t too bad when they go on sale at Pottery Barn. Also, check eBay. I’ve put together many a table with shell napkin rings I made from found shells and I’ve even made shell chargers with shells I found on Captiva and Sanibel islands, filling in with shells bought in Marshalls. Check out the 20+ beach table settings at that link above for additional ideas. I’ll be 60 in about 8 months and I’ve been collecting dishware for many years. If you buy a set of salad plates from Home Goods each summer for around $25-$30, you’ll find you have a wonderful collection in just a few years. And unlike shoes and clothes, they don’t wear out. 🙂 You’ll have them forever. Hope this helps. Oh, and also check out this post…I hope you’ll find it helpful: https://betweennapsontheporch.net/how-to-create-beautiful-table-settings-on-a-budget-welcome-to-the-132nd-tablescape-thursday/
Hi there!
I stumbled upon your post while trying to help a friend locate another Pottery Barn shark beverage container. Sadly, she lost hers in Hurricane Harvey. If you ever think of selling yours, please let me know. I’d love to replace hers as it was a special piece that she loved so much.
Jen McNab?? Stumbled across your comment while looking for this shark cooler again 🙂 Love you friend!
