After-Christmas Shopping

Welcome to the 51st Metamorphosis Monday!

Hope you’ve had a fabulous start to this new year, 2010! You’ve all given me a great start, filled with lots of smiles and giggles. I’ve been having soooo much fun reading your comments on Saturday’s post, especially the ones where you shared some of your own 2009 bloopers.  That was such a fun post to create and since your responses were equally as fun, I think we should make it an annual event here at BNOTP.

I don’t have a major “before and after” to post for this Met Monday, but I do have a little festive tweak I couldn’t resist sharing today. Recently, while I was out doing a little “after Christmas” shopping, I stopped by Love Street in Smyrna, Georgia. Everything Christmas related was 1/2 off…my kind of sale!

(Above pic from Love Street website)

You may remember, in my entry…

I have a small cane collection.

I know Christmas is all behind us now, but I thought I’d share something cute I came across while in Love Street…do you see it? Nope, not talking about all those leaves I managed to drag in last night when I took the wreaths down from the front of the house.

I’m talking about these silly things…the sparkly, pine bough thingies.

When I bought them, I had no idea what I’d do with them once I got home.

Then, I spied the cane stand. I kind of like how they created a little party right here amongst the canes. I think Mr. Duck is enjoying it, too.

Over the next few days, after work each day, I’ll gradually and sadly start de-Christmasing the house.

But for today…

There’s still a little Christmas fun going on…a subtle “after” on display. Leaves on the floor included.

Looking forward to seeing all your “Before and Afters.”

  1. I don't know about the others, but I don't think I could wait until next Jan. to post my bloopers! Yours were a hoot to read.

The umbrella stand is beautiful, so striking in the gold & black. Those little greenery bits are always perfect for sneaking into areas just like that.

  3. I think they look perfect there Susan and would look great there probably until the end-ish of January!

  4. Susan – I would definitely bought those sparkly branches had I seen them on sale. They are really unique. If you are like me, you'll forget you have them and be surprised when you pull them out of storage next year.

The boughs are fabulous! And I love the collection of artwork of the staircase.

Nothing like a half off Christmas sale. How else would we have good deals to sell our customers in the retail for next Christmas?! Gotta think ahead 🙂

  7. Maya @ Completely Coastal says

Happy New Year, Susan! And I plan to keep my Christmasy stuff for a little while longer too. I love all the lights, and it brightens the New England winter!

So glad you not all "un-Christmased" yet! The house is always so sad and barren when the decorations go! Boo hoo! (I think we should move Thxgiving to Sept or Oct so we can have a longer Yultide season!)

Hello, Susan! I am totally ready for bloopers. Set myself on fire today and did not get a picture, but the year has just begun.

I love the pine-sparkles–how perfect for your walking cane collection. Whenever I see your grandfather clock, I swoon.
I wanted to make sure I posted for MM because work starts tomorrow.

That's a great little after-Christmas item, Susan! I think it's a nice touch with your cane collection. I'll be taking my decorations down this week, too. I think it's easier to do it over a few evenings also, then it doesn't seem like such a chore.

  13. Loved the added sparkly in your cane holder. Isn't it great what adding a little something extra does to an ordinary grouping. Like you, I am having a hard time taking my decorations down.

  14. Susan, those spiky and sparkly things really dressed up your cane collection….Christine

Hi Susan! I love your sparkly pine boughs! I think they are wintery and could stay with your cane collection for a while…especially as wintery as it feels here right now! Brrr! I usually delete my blooper pics, so I'd better save some because it will happen for sure! lol Happy week!…hugs…Debbie

  18. Susan-I have an easier time finding bloopers than good pictures. Love the sparkly pine boughs and I have always admired your cane collection. I think there are as many leaves in my back entry as there are on the ground…glad to see someone else's!

  19. Barb @ GritsandGlamour says

Susan, all I can say about the de-Christmas'ing is "I feel your ugh!"
I did manage to get the storage containers back out today, but thats as far as I got. Doubke ugh!

  20. I love how you leave a little going on after you take all the Christmas goodies down. I am in the NORTH so I will keep my tree up for another week – we just got some fresh snow and it is just perfect with the Christmas decor.

    Happy New Year!

  26. Allison Shops says

I have a collection of canes as well. You can see them in this post I did on umbrella holders: http://www.atticmag.com/2009/10/decorative-umbrella-holders/

Great idea for your pine pieces. Your clock is wonderful.

  27. Susan, the greens add a nice touch to the canes. I'd live the in there for the winter. I decided not to take down the green with the berries in our home just yet. It gives a wintery feel and the red berries will still work for me through Valentines. I'd already scattered red hearts among them, so I say "Why not?"
I'm sharing a little something for Blue Monday instead of Metmorphosis Monday this week. Hope to join you for MM next week.
Always love to see photos of your beautiful home. Thank you! ~ Sarah

Can you buy these as is and insert them, or are they something designed and created by a carpenter?
