An Elegant, “Dress-up” Dinner Party for 10

Welcome to the 701st Tablescape Thursday!

I have a wonderful treat for you today! Recently, I received an email from Warren about a special dinner party he and his wife Kathie hosted in their home.

Warren said, “After setting too many holiday tablescapes, I felt like I had lost my mojo and was suffering from “tablescaper’s block.” (I am in all of Susan’s talent and skill to have created over 600 tablescapes.) We had planned a special fancy dress-up dinner party for ten and I had no vision for a tablescape for the event. When Kathy spotted these gorgeous candle holders in a consignment shop, I had an inspiration–an elegant silver/gray and crystal tablescape. As a foundation for the tablescape, I used a bright white tablecloth upon which I placed a beautiful sparkling silver/gray table runner I found on Etsy.”

Candlesticks

“I added a subtle hint of color using stemware with pale pink stems, a pair of pink Akam Turkish vases adorned with silver flowers (Michaels), and four pink Turkish compotes on which I displayed macarons especially painted and color-coordinated for this tablescape by my daughter, Jenny. The vases and compotes were from Home Goods. Incidentally, the stemware was found by Jenny in a box at their town transfer station; she thought I could use them in a tablescape–you never know where good stuff will pop up!”

Elegant Table Setting

“Silver rimmed white plates were placed on brocade silver chargers, both from Home Goods. The silver-gray Waterford napkins (Home Goods) were decorated with silver butterflies, which I had found on sale at Walmart a few years ago. The heart napkin rings (Etsy) were a nod to Valentine’s Day and added a splash of brilliant color. The centerpiece of the tablescape was comprised of three globe candleholders (HomeGoods) surrounded by tea candles, all of which were placed on a mirror.”

“Further illumination was provided by silver pillar candles mounted on the crystal candle holders Kathie had purchased, and by additional tea candles place at opposite ends of the table.”

Elegant Candlelight Dinner

“Dinner started with appetizers of shrimp canapes, and toasted pita bread with acorn squash/sour cream dip. The entree was Beef Wellington accompanied by sauteed carrots slices, sauteed greens, garlic mashed potatoes, and a spinach salad. For dessert, we had three kinds of Jenny’s fancy macarons accompanied by a mixed fruit dessert. Yum!”

Beautiful Silver Gray Macarons

Thanks so much to Warren and Kathie for sharing this beautiful, elegant table setting. The menu sounded amazing and dining by candlelight is so special, especially on a cold winter’s night!

If you are participating in Tablescape Thursday, please be sure to add your permalink below, and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up. You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate.

That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses and scammers from linking up to sell their products. (Yep, that really happens, unfortunately.) If you see a post that’s not table-setting related, let me know and I’ll remove it.

Please, don’t add your post name/blog name ALL IN CAPS…it tends to create big spaces between the rows of links. Please link up table setting or table setting related posts only for Tablescape Thursday.

  11. Warren and Kathie always have beautiful tablescapes and this one is no different! I love this tablescape. It is perfect for the middle of winter, very elegant to say the least. Love the littler touch of red in the napkin ring. The gray/white/silver tones are just beautiful along with the warmth of the candles and the mirrors. So elegant, but yet cozy-hard one to pull off but Warren did beautifully. Hugs, Brenda
