An Appliance Slider Tray For My Kitchen, Love How It Works!

Welcome to the 742nd Metamorphosis Monday! How was your weekend? Hope it was a great one! Last Monday I shared a full, down-to-the-studs kitchen renovation my son and daughter-in-law just recently completed in their home. If you missed that post, you’ll find it here: This 1970s Kitchen Just Got a Dramatic, Down-to-the-Studs Renovation.

Beautiful Kitchen Renovation

As part of a yay-we-have-a-new-kitchen and early, joint birthday celebration, I gifted them a new coffee maker. For easier access and to protect the underside of the cabinets from any steam that could rise up from the coffee maker, my daughter-in-law found a clever device that easily moves the coffee maker out from underneath the cabinets.

This is how it looks and it arrive fully assembled and ready to go.

Slide-Out Tray for Countertop Appliances

I was able to try it out and see how beautifully it works during a recent visit to their home. It definitely got the wheels in my brain turning!

I don’t do a lot of baking so don’t use my heavy KitchenAid mixer that often, but when I do need it, it’s a chore to move it out from under my cabinets.

Great Pull-out Appliance Tray for Mixer, Toaster or Coffee Maker

Every so often I fail to pull it out as far as I should since it’s so heavy. Over the years, there have been a few times when I didn’t realize it wasn’t out far enough and I’ve bumped the top into the cabinets above. Unfortunately, that has left a noticeable scratch. I wonder if I can somehow buff that out. Anyway, I decided to order the appliance sliding tray to assist with moving it out whenever I do need to use it.

Love how this tray works! It amazes me that this small tray can handle a big heavy KitchenAid mixer, but it does! The size/width is perfect for my mixer, just as it was for the coffee maker. I wish I had known about this device well before now! Actually, I wish I had been the one to invent it! Ha! If you have a heavy or awkward appliance that’s a chore to pull out and push back underneath a cabinet, you’ll find this awesome appliance slider tray here: Appliance Slider/Tray.

  1. Well, I just ordered 2 of the slide-outs & 1 more in a larger size for our ice machine. This is ingenious, will squelch many daily “arguments” at our lake cottage re: not pushing the coffee maker back. But, like you, Susan, my first thought was, “now, why didn’t I invent that?!” Thanks for another great suggestion!

  2. Love the color of the Kitchen Maid! And just read your baby bird story. Thanks so much for having us over, Susan. Have a great week. Hope the pollen is under control!

    • Thanks, Debra! So far, it’s look pretty good. These regular rains we’ve had all spring have helped a lot. I hope it’s not too bad where you are.
KitchenAid keeps producing the prettiest colors for their mixers each. I ended up going with red since I had a few red accent around the kitchen, so that worked out well.

Ordering two…ingenius!! Keep on doin what you’re doin!! franki

    • Thanks, Franki! I’m tempted to order a second one for my Toaster that I always move out. It’s pretty light though, so it’s not as big a deal as the mixer. The mixer is a whole ‘nother story!

  4. Very unique….I’m not a fan of appliances on the counter top….if it won’t fit in my cupboard….it goes in my garage cupboards..just me!

I have a bulky Kitchen Aid toaster. It is 27 years old! I guess it was quality and we still love it but, I have to shove it under the upper cabinets when we aren’t using it because countertop space is not plentiful here. Then, I always scurry to remind my husband or guests that they need to scoot it out, lest they catch the underside of the cabinets on fire! This might just be the solution. Ha! I could make a little label that says, “Slide out, then toast!”

    • Wow, that’s a testament to how well things were made back then! I know, you def don’t want to use it under the cabinets for sure. I like your label idea. 🙂

  6. omg Susan, this tray is exactly what I need for my mixer too! I just ordered one and if I like it, I’m going to get another one for my food processor! Thank you so much!

  7. I didn’t even know they made something like this until you posted it when you showed your Son and DIL’s new kitchen. I put it right on my Amazon wish list to buy soon for my Kitchen Aid Mixer because it is so heavy to move around. Right now, mine is on a nice wood cutting board that helps me to slide it out. But I really like this slider and will definitely be getting it! Then I can have my cutting board back. lol Thanks Susan, you’ve enabled me! Hugs, Brenda

    • My DIL enabled me…well, I sorta help by sending her a link to the page on Amazon where they showed these devices. That’s the one she chose and when I looked at them again, I liked it best, too. It’s working great so she chose a good one! Hope you love it, Brenda! I love how mine is working so far!

Just ordered a couple of these sliders, one for the coffee machine and the other, not sure, but I’m sure I’ll find a use. Saw your small plates for the seasons I also like your colorful rooster and wondered is you can find one. Going to add splotches of color to our new kitchen when it is done. Thanks you for posting, a lot of great ideas! Teresa

    • Thanks, Teresa! I can’t remember where I found him…it’s been so long now. I just did a quick search and found some really cute ones here: https://amzn.to/3A68M7i . I love the bright colors!

      • Teresa Pasquariello says

Now I can’t find where you posted pictures of this little guy, wondered if there are any trademarks on him underneath. I love a quest on ebay, may be he’s a collectible. Presently getting ready for a kitchen makeover, he would add some color. Also have a question on what your storage containers, protectors for your dish sets. Thanks, Teresa

        • I just looked on the bottom or the rooster and there are no markings at all. I may have found him in Hobby Lobby or maybe HomeGoods. I used to shop in those stores a lot. I’ve had him so long, I just don’t remember now where he is from, but I’ve had him at least since 2011 since I used in a table back then.

You can read about the storage containers in this post: https://betweennapsontheporch.net/kitchen-tweak-welcome-to-the-148th-metamorphosis-monday/
They are the Achor Hocking Montana Jar when I purchased them back in 2011. I think I purchased those in Walmart, or it could have been Target. I found some here just now: https://amzn.to/41i5R7b
You may want to look on Walmart and Target’s website, too.

I bought the appliance slider for my kitchen aid, what a great find! Now I’m wondering where you got the measurement scoops for your canisters! I couldn’t find them on Amazon, do you have a link?

  10. I love the slider ideas. I have one for my kitchenaid and for my coffee maker. Hadn’t thought about one for my ice maker but going to order one for it as it’s heavy! Great ideas! Thanks Susan!

  11. The link to the link party isn’t working…not sure the reason.

  12. Susan,
Thanks again for hosting this charming party every week! I know how much time goes into doing so and I want you to know that it I truly appreciate it!! I hope you have a great week!
    Hugs,
    Deb

  13. In my last house I, too, had the problem with a Kitchen Aid mixer being on the counter and it was SO heavy to move when I wanted to use it. SOOO…my husband built me a “baking center” that was about 8 feet long and a few inches shorter than my kitchen counter. It was on the other side of a kitchen counter that divided the kitchen and family room. Shorter (I am only about 5 ft tall) provided the leverage I needed to roll out cookies, pie crusts, etc. as I did lots of baking. The top was granite to keep dough cool. On the end was a cabinet that had a “lift” for my mixer. All I had to do was open the cabinet, reach inside and pull the lift forward and upward. It was the perfect height to use AND it didn’t take up my precious counter space. The baking center also had drawers and a built in microwave that I could actually see inside. I HATE kitchens with microwaves so high that I cannot see what I am cooking. We have just moved from that house, and a requirement for my new house is that it have room for another baking center, complete with space for both a microwave and my mixer.

  14. I ordered two. One for my coffee maker and one for my KitchenAid mixer. Thanks for sharing all these great gadgets and appliances! The coffee maker you purchased for your son looks and sounds fabulous. As coffee lover, I swooned when I read about it but the price also made me swoon in not such a great way. If my husband drank coffee as I do, we might go for it but I could never justify buying that just for me. Anyway, a girl can dream!

  15. Susan,
What are and where did get those measuring scoops in the jars of cereal and sugar? They look like something I can’t live without;–)

  16. I’ve had a slider under my Kitchen Aid mixer for about year – it is one of the best gadgets I have. Highly recommend and a great share! Jane
