It’s Been Almost 4 Years Now, So How Did It Work?

Welcome to the 696th Metamorphosis Monday!

How do you store your silver jewelry? Over the years I’ve purchased a few Tiffany & Co. silver necklaces, bracelets, and rings They are inexpensive, as jewelry goes, and always so sparkly and beautiful. I especially love their enamel and silver pieces.

Of course, Tiffany jewelry always comes in their signature blue jewelry pouch that helps prevent tarnishing, but the problem with the pouches is you can’t see what’s in them. So if you have several silver jewelry pieces, each time you wish to wear a piece, you have to open each pouch to find the one you need. Or, if you’re like me, you forget what you even have and end up not wearing it since it’s out of sight and out of mind.

Tiffany & Co. Jewelry Pouch

Almost four years ago I ordered this see-thru, silver jewelry storage system that is supposed to help keep silver jewelry from tarnishing. It’s double-sided and I really liked how the jewelry is visible at all times, though it’s being stored in a tarnish-free way. (Jewelry Keeper is currently on sale here: Silver Jewelry Keeper.)

Here’s how it looked when I added my jewelry to it a few years back.

Silver Jewelry Storage, Prevents Tarnish

I pulled it out last night and took a few photos to share so you can see how my jewelry is looking today after not being polished for 3-1/5 years.

I’m really pleased with how well this silver jewelry keeper has worked. I could wear any of these pieces right now without having to polish them first. I would probably just give them a once over with one of the little Tiffany and Co. silver cloths, but they look fine to wear just as they are.

Prevent Tarnish, Tiffany Silver Jewelry Storage

For storing necklaces on long chains, I loop the chain through the little tab twice. The tabs snap open and closed so it’s very easy to hang necklaces or bracelets.

This storage method really does work. I have not polished any of these jewelry pieces in over 3-1/2 years!

Tiffany Sterling Silver Jewelry Storage

If you have silver jewelry and need a way to store it where it will stay looking great and ready to be worn, you’ll find this hanging jewelry storage pouch on sale here: Silver Jewelry Keeper.)

Jewelry Storage for Sterling Silver and Silverplate Jewelry

For polishing my silver jewelry, I’ve been using Tiffany & Co.’s silver polish that’s sold at the Tiffany and Co. website, but it’s really expensive and you don’t get very much in the container. They’ve reduced the size of their container over the years. I think I’m going to try Hagerty’s jewelry polish since Hagerty is what was recommended to me by the most high-end, prestigious silver shop in Buckhead, Atlanta. They told me that Hagerty was all they used on their sterling silver flatware and holloware. So I’m guessing their jewelry cleaner is probably just as good as their other products. (Hagerty sterling and silverplated jewelry polish is available here: Hagerty Silver Jewelry Polish.)

Their spray polish is my favorite for cleaning my silver flatware and other silver/silver plated holloware. It gets down into all the grooves which I really like. Just be sure to wear a mask when using it since it’s a spray. I purchase it here: Hagerty Spray Silver Polish.

For flat silver/silver plated pieces that don’t have a lot of detail work or ornamentation, I use their regular silver polish, available here: Hagerty Silver Polish. I really don’t trust any other brand, especially for my sterling flatware.

Hope you found this post helpful if you have silver jewelry or silver flatware/holloware.

Looking forward to all the wonderful Before and Afters linked for this week’s Met Monday!

You can buy anti-tarnish fabric online. I lined my silver drawers with it and it works great.

  2. I had a similar anti tarnish keeper and it worked for several years. When it came time to replace it, I decided to go with something else. Many recommendations for keeping sterling silver jewelry is to keep it in a small plastic bag with a small anti tarnish strip. Hagerty’s makes long ones that I cut to small squares. You should replace the strips every year. 4 mil bags work better. I store the individual bags in jewelry boxes. It’s easy to look through and find a piece that way. For earrings, I use a double sided hanging sorter with clear slots and put the small bag in each slot so I can see the earrings. I sort by color and hang it on the inside door or an armoire. I will check out Hagerty jewelry cleaner.

  3. I use the Hagerty silver polish for my flatware and silver bowls, trays, etc., too. That is all I’ve ever used. Didn’t realize they had silver jewelry polish. Thank you for the info. I’ll try it. I have vintage and antique Native American silver jewelry pieces and would trust Hagerty as well.

I have always put white chalk in the drawers with silver jewelry and flatware.
The chalk keeps everything tarnish-free. I use a block chalk easily found on Amazon.

cool I’ve never heard of doing this to prevent silver from tarnishing. Do you mean a box of chalk that you would use to write on a chalk board?

  5. That’s a great recommendation, Susan. My jewelry’s a mess.

  6. Bought the jewelry keeper on your recommendation several years ago. Works so well. Keeping my Pandora bracelets in it, too.

  7. I like that jewelry storage solution. You’re always a wealth of information. I have a few sterling pieces from Tiffany’s as well, as does my daughter. Tiffany’s will cleaning them for you too as well. I brought in a necklace my kids gave me a few months ago & when I went to pick it up, I thought it looked great but the Tiffany rep was not happy with the results. They sent it our to I believe maybe NY{?} and cleaned it with a high grade polisher. It looks amazing and although it did take a bit longer- it’s super sparkly. I use Hagerty for my tabletop sterling as well.

  8. Thanks again for hosting this lovely party every week! I know how much time goes into doing so and I want you to know that it is greatly appreciated!! Stay safe, healthy and happy!!
    Hugs,
    Debbie
