Boldly Go Where No Man Has Gone Before: A Star Trek Themed Halloween Party!

Welcome to the 665th Metamorphosis Monday!

Are you a Star Trek fan? When I was growing up, we didn’t have a TV for many years and when we finally got one, it would only get two channels. So I missed out on a lot of the shows I would hear my friends talking about. Sadly, I’ve never seen an episode of Star Trek, but in doing a bit of online research this morning, I discovered that Star Trek was a science fiction series that ran on NBC for three seasons, 1966-1969. I feel a bit cheated that I never got to see it! I’ll have to find it online and watch an episode or two.

In the past, I’ve shared some of Jackie’s amazing Halloween decorations!

Halloween Decor Idea, Skulls Around Doorway

Do you remember this from last year? Spooky and fun!

For her Halloween party this year, Jackie went with a Star Trek theme and I’m so amazed by all her decorations! This was one of the entrances to Jackie’s living room, aka the Starship Enterprise.

Decorate Room in a Star Trek Theme

Once you entered the room, this is what you saw.

Jackie gave us a behind-the-scenes look at how she made these lit controls.

Sooo clever!

Of course, we need a command central! Jackie hung this banner she had made over her fireplace.

Quark's Bar from Deep Space 9

The Transporter…

Jackie said, “Quark’s Bar wasn’t from the original Star Trek that I modeled the living room “set” after.  But it was a famous Star Trek bar from “Deep Space 9” a spin-off of the original. I looked everywhere online and I don’t think the original bar had a name. Hmmm, wonder if any of your reader’s know the answer to that question?” Any Star Trek fans out there know the answer to Jackie’s question?

So much work went into all these special details and effects! What a fun party this must have been!

Jackie even decorated the floor of the Starship Enterprise! Did they have a cat on the Enterprise? If they didn’t, they should have! 😉

Do you see the Tribbles? 🙂

A Star Trek party would not be complete without Tribbles. The Trouble with Tribbles was the 15th episode of the second season and Tribbles were a friendly, rapidly reproducing, small, furry creature. Something tells me I would have liked that episode. lol

Some of the other decorations with famous sayings from the show…

Jackie used Alien Tape (of course!) to hold a lot of her decorations. Ha! So perfect! Jackie said it works great to hold things but shouldn’t be used on a porous surface. (Alien Tape is available here: Alien Tape.)

Thanks so much to Jackie for transporting us into outer space for this week’s Metamorphosis Monday! What a treat it would be to be invited to one of her awesome Halloween parties!

  1. Wow, what an incredible party! Thanks Susan!

WOW!! I’m a huge Halloween fan and this is so fabulous. Probably some creepy aliens will appear closer to Halloween! How incredible! I love Star Trek. And, how fitting since William Shatner, Captain Kirk at his age, made it into space just a few weeks ago. Who would ever have thought it?! Love it all.

“BAAAZINGA”…wait, wrong show…”Beam me over, Jackie”…my son would LOVE, LOVE THIS!! “STARtacular!” franki

  4. Oh, wow! HUGE Trek fan here! The name of the bar on the space station DS9 (Deep Space 9), was called Quarks Bar, Grill, Gaming House and Holosuite Arcade. Fans call it “Quark’s Bar”:

  5. Oops, hit enter before I was done commenting. I have to say Jackie did an excellent job with her decorations!

  6. OMGosh, Jackie is so dang clever and fun! I love the Star Trek theme and loved the show as a kid. Yes, Susan, you so need to watch it, it was so fun. Probably seems cheesy now, but man that was a rad show back in the day with special effects that we were awed by. lol Of course by today’s standards, maybe not….but back then definitely! Hugs, Brenda

  7. Darlene Gardner says

Susan, this is fabulous! I was a “trekie” at the time and watched every episode for all three years. Then, it was syndicated and I got to enjoy it again. By today’s standards, Star Trek lacked the computer generation that can make everything scene so realistic. However, it was a fun series to watch and I loved the movies that came out later. So neat that William Shatner got to go up in space and explore “the final frontier”. Jackie went to lots of work to recreate the starship Enterprise in her home – WELL DONE! Her family and friends must have enjoyed their trip into outer space.

  8. The original Star Trek didn’t have a bar on the Enterprise. The Next Generation’s Enterprise bar room was called Ten Forward (Deck 10, front of the ship, great view). Quark’s was on the space station Deep Space 9. My nephew is a hugh Star Trek fan and sent me this information. Great decorations!

  9. What fun! My family watched Star Trek together (I think we got 3 channels) and I remember the “Trouble with Tribbles” episode. When my children were in highschool, some reference was made to tribbles, and I had to explain to them what a tribble was. My son said, “Mom, I didn’t know you were a Trekkie!” I don’t think I was one, but I did enjoy the show. Haven’t watched the Next Generation ones though. I’m sure this was a great party!

  10. What?!!

    *Speechless*

  11. Wow! Now that is using creativity for a party! Bravo!

  12. Michele Cellura says

Star Trek episodes are on MeTv station , Saturday nights at 10!

  13. The original Star Trek episodes are being shown in a number of places. They have put in newer effects on some of the episodes. In the original, some of the shots of the exteriors of the starships were a little hokey, but have been upgraded in the “enhanced” versions. Lots of rabbit holes to go down when you enter the ST universe. Funny thing, most of our dogs over the last 25 years have ended up with Star Trek names.

  14. What a fabulous party! Lots of work. I remember those days, it didn’t matter what kind of a meeting we were at everyone had to rush home to watch “Star Trek.”

  15. Wow Susan that is amazing!!!!

  16. This is the greatest decorating! I was a devoted Star Trek fan, but only for the original version. I was so in love with James Kirk (William Shatner), and you know what, I still am! This show aired on Friday nights, and my date/fiancee knew not to plan anything for Fridays. DeForest Kelley was born in Toccoa, GA, Susan, so he was a Georgia Boy!

  17. I grew up watching the original Star Trek on syndicated reruns after school, and I had a crush on Mr. Spock (I’ve always liked the strange), not Captain Kirk like everyone else. Now you can watch reruns on a channel called “Heroes & Icons” which is on the regular airwave channels (here in Miami, I don’t know about Atlanta) and they show ALL the spinoffs, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise. I like them all, but especially Enterprise with Scott Bakula. The new movies that came out recently are surprisingly good, I went to see them with my son, and I had to laugh at the fact that he and I could share a common “Trekkie” adventure. Who would of thought that show that was cancelled so soon back in the 70’s would still be relevant today.

  18. I can’t get over all the fantastic Star Trek details – it’s totally amazing. Thanks so much for hosting. I hope your week is a special one, CoCo

  19. Cheryl Gordon says

Wow, that is incredible! I was a Star Trek fan of the first 3 series. I actually have a Tribble (I think I still do), a Star Fleet table setting for one still in its box and a cup where the people appear in the transporter when you fill it with hot liquid that I use once in a while just for fun.

  20. WOW JUST WOW!! I can’t believe the amount of work, detail and craftsmanship that went into these decorations!! Jackie did an absolutely AWESOME job. The partygoers are very lucky to have a hostess like Jackie. :0)
