Bridal Tea Table Setting

Welcome to the 155th Tablescape Thursday!

I love it when you share your beautiful tablescapes with me!  I was so excited when Sue, a reader of BNOTP, emailed a few pics of a bridal shower she recently gave for a friend.  Sue loves growing lavender in her own garden and prior to the shower, she visited a lavender farm, Yule Love It Lavender Farm in Michigan.  She was so inspired by her visit to the farm, she decided to make it a big part of the theme for the shower.

Sue sent out invites and each invite included pressed lavender from her own garden.  Sue said, “Lavender symbolizes love and happiness and the bridesmaids are wearing a deep purple color.  I thought it would fit perfectly.”

Sue only had eight napkins and nine were scheduled to attend the shower.  She solved this little hiccup by arranging the bride’s place setting a bit differently.  Instead of a regular napkin, the bride had a pretty dish towel tied with a mirrored bow.  Don’t you love it when a problem is turned into a positive?

The bride’s place setting was made extra special with a small vase of white lavender tucked inside a sweet silver vase.

Sue placed bundles of lavender in tiny crystal vases all around the table.  I think I can just smell the wonderful scent of lavender.  So romantic!  Sue carried the lavender theme right through to the dessert, serving lavender brownies.

Each place setting was adorned with a bar of hand-made lavender soap.

The china is Spode and the pattern is Jewel.  Sue was given this beautiful china by her Mother who is a proprietor of antiques.

The pattern really has a lacy “bridal” look, doesn’t it?

I love the vintage crocheted tablecloth, another gift from Sue’s Mom.  Beautiful!

Each napkin was tied with a sweet glittered bird and a sprig of lavender.

The centerpiece for this beautiful table setting was created with hydrangeas from Sue’s garden. Sue placed the hydrangeas in a pretty Fiesta teapot.

Sue provided a copy of the menu to the bride as a keepsake memory of the bridal tea.

Sue, thanks so much for sharing these wonderful photos of this beautiful bridal tea.  I know they will provide inspiration to others who may be planning for a similar occasion.

Looking forward to your beautiful tablescapes!

Hi Susan! I had a picture of Spode's Billingsley Rose on my blog last week. It has the same eyelet edge. I only have the one plate though. This table is lovely and the hostess did a great job. Thanks for another fun party!

Such a pretty, feminine table! I know the bride and her friends must have felt so special.

  14. I love the elegantly simple approach Sue took to creating this wonderful, lavender-themed table! Creating a speical napkin treatment for the bride (as a solution to being one matching napkin short) — well that was beyond brilliant!

Love the setting and love being inspired by creative approaches to table setting from the sweetest, most gracious people anywhere. Thank you, Susan, for imagining Tablescape Thursdays and for making it happen week after week!

    Kudos, my friend!

    Fondly,
    Bill

Although Spode Jewel "Billingsley Rose" is probably better know, I like the Spode Jewel "Heath & Rose", used here, the best. I love the lacy embossed rim. I choose it often when I'm designing for a wedding event. It reminds me of lace in a wedding gown. The lavender was such a special personal touch…just beautiful. Thank you for sharing this event and for giving us the vehicle to share our passion for gracious entertaining. Cherry Kay
