Children’s Valentine’s Day Table Setting

Welcome to 230th Tablescape Thursday!

Thanks so much for all the great comments you left on yesterday’s “Brass is Back!” post.  You made some amazing points and I so enjoyed hearing your perspective on the resurgence of quality brass pieces in the home.  I especially love that so many of you don’t let the latest trend pressure you into changing or discarding that which you truly love.

If you’ve been reading BNOTP over the last few weeks, you know that my friend, Marie, has decorated her beautiful home for the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday.  I shared one of her wonderful Valentine’s Day table settings in this post:  A Valentine’s Day Table Setting, Elegant and Whimsical

Marie didn’t leave out the cute table her sweet grandchildren use…it got a delightful tablescape, too.  I love the saying on the sign that hangs in this area and I love that Marie decorates down low in this area where the children can enjoy it.

This little table is the same table Marie used when her children were growing up.  So wonderful that she kept it and is now able to use it with her six grandchildren.  The heart glasses are so cute….notice how the straw actually wraps around the outside of the glass.  Fun!

Marie also hung adorable bags (from Pottery Barn) on the backs of the chairs.  They hold special Valentine’s Day treats and treasures for each grandchild.  Each is personalized with that grandchild’s name.  (I placed a little heart over each name for privacy.)   The girls got heart-shaped bags with pretty rick rack trim.

The boys got “envelope” shaped bags, also personalized with their name.  Marie, thanks so much for sharing this darling table for Tablescape Thursday!

Susan – this table is simply adorable! I just hope that some day you will show us where Marie stores all of her decorations. I cannot imagine, but I’ll bet she is more organized than I!! I love the chair covers with the names on them – I would love to be a child and find one of those at my Valentine’s Day table! Thanks for hosting.

  3. Such a darling table, sure makes me miss my Bailey around sitting at his small table drawing and playing with legos. Love the sign on the wall. Thanks for hosting each week. hugs ~lynne ~

  6. That’s so sweet that your friend decorates that little table for so many occasions for her grandchildren! That’s a lasting memory for them…and for her to watch their joy, I’m sure! I remember the one she did around Christmastime. She has a wonderful creative streak! Have a good Super Bowl weekend!!!

  7. Gorgeous, as always! Love the creativity….

  8. What a great table and chairs set! I’m sure those children look forward to visiting their Grandma, with all those special things waiting! BTW, I saw the new Pottery Barn bunny dishes, and they are small versions of the cute ones you showed last year, with the dish on the bunny’s feet. So adorable!! Linda

    • Linda, they are back! I saw them while in the store the other day and they are the same size. They probably look smaller since my pics were so up-close and large, but they are the same size. If you like them, get them now because they were gone weeks before Easter last year. I’m sure the eBay sellers are buying them all up NOW as we speak. Grrr, hate that they do that!

  9. ABsolutely adorable!

  10. What a sweet setting for little kids…I love it!

  13. As a retired third grade teacher, and seeing this wonderful table, I do think valentine’s day was meant especially for children… Sure we grown ups like to milk it for all it’s worth, with a nice dinner out but all the frou frou and fun is the stuff of little girls’ dreams… of course, Im still a little girl at heart!!

  14. gotta love a great table like that

  19. Marie has six VERY lucky grandchildren! I can just imagine how a litle child would look at that table-it would seem like an absolute wonderland… such a lovely thing to do for them! Thank you so much for sharing it!

  20. Wow…!! how wonderful to have a place to store things and reuse them so long after their creation. I had to sell everything I owned…to downside into an efficiency. just love that others have these precious things they can share with we virtual voyeurs.

  21. Susan, this is adorable. That Marie is a thoughtful grandmother. 😉 Don’t you know those children love spending time with her! Thanks for hosting each week. ~ Sarah

    Simply Adorable

  23. Wonderful table setting. The grandchildren must love their Grandmother very much and feel so special. Love the name hangings on the back of the chairs. Children remember these special things, my own granddaughter, now 16, still talks about the tea parties and dressing up with my *jewels*, as she calls them.
I also noticed those beautiful window hangings.
Thank you Susan and Marie and looking forward to more tours!!! 🙂

  24. Thanks for hosting , Susan!

  25. Marie is amazing and so generous to allow you to share all this with us!!!! I have the same heart plates but they are the salad late size. I wish I had found the dinner size too. Love all the Anna Lee figurines. Such a great table for the kids. XO, pinky
