Island Living, Without The Island

Imagine living on your own private island. Imagine living on your own private islandย but without any of the hassles that come with that lifestyle, namely trying to go to and from your home quickly and easily.

That’s what came to mind when I saw this beautiful coastal home perched on its own little peninsula off the Old Greenwich coastline.

It must feel a lot like being on your own private island, except you don’t cry when you get home from the grocery store and realize you forgot to get milk.

Coastal Home in Greenwich

This home has a grand entry, but you know what I really love? I love it when a coastal home actually has a coastal feel inside, when the furnishings are done in bold, nautical, “let’s-go-sailing” stripes.

The newel post reminds me of a wonderful old lighthouse!

So much to love about the living room. The coffered ceiling is wonderful but not sure anyone would ever notice it because they’d be spending all their time gawking out the windows! Awesome view!

Beautiful kitchen, great for entertaining all those friends who will stop by and end up staying the whole summer! ๐Ÿ™‚

Wonder if its possible to swim from one peninsula to the other or if its further than it looks?

How do you like the wallpaper? It kind of reminds me of linen fabric or maybe sand.

Love a blue and white interior in a waterside home. The tall wainscoting feels so right in this home, doesn’t it? Several of the rooms have that private “stateroom” feel, like you’re sailing on a big ship or maybe a private yacht.

I see a fireplace. Imagine dining here in the winter, fire blazing away on one size–the ocean on the other. Yup, this would work. ๐Ÿ˜‰

There’s not a bad seat in the house when you live on a peninsula, is there?ย Wow!

Love the windows in this bath. I was thinking the tub would be there where we see the bench seat. Think there’s a tub hiding under there? Or, maybe there’s a shower at the other end of the room.

Beach Nautical Bath

Another beautiful bedroom…love the shape of the room. The turret/lighthouseย style window really takes advantage of the views!

Love all the storage under the windows. That’s something we could design into our own homes pretty easily. Notice the nautical-style lights.

A beautiful office with a fireplace for chilly nights. Wonder if there’s a TV inside the cabinets?

Do you follow BNOTP on Instagram? If so, you saw this picture when I shared it a few days ago. What a fun, whimsical mudroom! Such a cute design with the lighthouse in the center.

Beautiful outdoor space to enjoy the views.

  1. It’s beautiful! I love all the light and I could live on that porch!

  2. I should have listened to Mama. Yup. She told me. And I didn’t listen. When she told me: “It’s just as easy to fall in love with a rich man as a poor man”, I didn’t listen. I sure didn’t. And because of that, I can not live in a FREAKIN’ BEAUTIFUL BEACH MANSION like this! I mean, even if I fell out of love with the rich guy, there’s always the pool guy for backup. Did I write that?! GAH! Where’s that filter when I need it?!

  3. Linda Page says:

I love all of the storage! It is tucked away in so many spots that one would not expect. Us gals love our storage. I wonder if this was a woman architect that designed the house??? I love all of the furnishings and all of the blue. It feels so comfortable. But what I like best is that there isn’t a bad view from any room. I can only imagine how wonderful it would be to look out of those windows every day! Wow! Susan, you did really good with this one!

    • Thanks Linda! I knew this one had to be shared as soon as I saw that adorable mudroom! ๐Ÿ™‚ Those views must be amazing at night with the twinkling lights from the other homes. I would love to see a nighttime view!

  4. Regality3 says:

    Love the mud room!

  5. Anne Lovell says:

I love every room!! Wow, what views! I especially like the living room and kitchen and office and, no those are my favorites. Just beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

  6. What an incredible home. I love how the land juts out into the water giving it wonderful views from every room. But I can’t imagine getting anything done in that office. I’d be staring outside every minute!

  7. Oh my word, this is dream living for sure.

  8. carol jane says:

Beautiful. Must be nice to have that kind of money, to live that way.

  9. Hi……boy…I could move there…yesterday.!! shoot who am I kidding..I would move there anyday…hope they have a few people for cleaning that place…I’d have to share if I had a place like that..think I’ll listen to Denise’s mom and look for a RICH man this time around =^)

  10. Judy Hubbard says:

You have shown us many beautiful homes, but this one “takes the cake!”
Is it for sale & how much, if so?

    • It is for sale…Judy, check out the link at the end of the post and you can see the listing for it with all the details. That area is a bit pricey, fun to dream, though! ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. Cecilia says:

    OMG Susan,
since I am a sun-worshipper I could “live” in that outdoor space, only!
But if you insist I could take the kitchen, that bedroom #1 with the balcony and the bathroom #2, too…
I really don’t need much to be happy… LOL
Can we rent it for next summer? ๐Ÿ™‚
Seriously, there’s just one thing I would miss in that “paradise”: a little sand under my feet. ๐Ÿ˜‰
    ~Hugs to you~
    Cecilia
PS: Susan, have you noticed, they mostly have ceiling spotlights and LAMPS in almost every room, and no chandy? LOL

  12. It is beautiful. But imagine if a storm were to come. You are right there waiting to get hit.

  13. WOW!

  14. This is spectacular! Not a stuffy room in the house! I could move in immediately and feel right at home. All of it is just fantastic!

  15. So beautiful. My favorite room would be wherever the sun was shining in at that moment. At night? I would tell you after I lived there a bit ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. Regality3 says:

As beautiful as it is, I do wonder what it’s like during storm season. Do they need a very large broom to sweep out the H2O on the bottom floor?

    • Gosh, I hope not. It probably sits up higher than it looks in these aerial views from above. I wonder how many storms they get in the Greenwich area. That’s always a worry I guess when living on the coast.

      • Many of these waterfront homes have been here for generations. Destructive storms do come on the Eastern Seaboard. There have been many nasty storms. But Mother Nature can (and does) wreck havoc everywhere. As always use a little common sense and you will be fine.
My family has lived on the Connecticut shore of the Long Island ( not Greenwich) sound for generations.
If you can afford a 10 plus million dollar home you can afford the insurance.

      • Regality3 says:

The area did get hit by Sandy, but I don’t know if that was the exception or the rule.

  17. Me, Oh, My, you are a tease Susan, you know we cannot add this to the list unless we drop another one. It is glorious, my dream to be at the ocean. I will take the cute gazebo bedroom. Love, love, this house. *sigh*!!

  18. pam ~ crumpety cottage says:

This is like Heaven to me. ๐Ÿ™‚ I would love to live on the water. Although, I do wonder about the ramifications, being so close. Surely, surely, they have had waves hitting that house! At any rate, it’s gorgeous with all those pretty windows and views of the blue ocean. Just gorgeous. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I think I’d choose the dining room for the reasons you stated; a fire on one side and ocean views on the other. *Sigh* Don’t you just wonder about people who live like this? What do they do for a living – or did they inherit their homes, their money? Being in Connecticut (like that European style home you featured a few days ago) I wonder if they are in finance. Whatever they do, they sure know how to pick beautiful homes!

Btw, Susan, I just saw that Marvin Hamlish’s home is up for sale and that is another gorgeous home, right up the BNOTP alley. Check it out when you have time.

  19. pam ~ crumpety cottage says:

I forgot to mention those covered porches. Gorgeous! I love that they are actually large enough to “live” on. Plenty of room for people, furniture, gatherings. And the view. Gosh, just gorgeous. I think it’s safe to say you should put this one on Megan’s list. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  20. What a beautiful well appointed home. So many of these large (expensive) homes have such terrible decorators. This one is simple, classy, and fun. Appears to be move in ready. I can imagine the fun of decorating this one.

  21. What an absolutely spectacular house! The views are amazing!!! Thanks for sharing!

  22. Charlotte says:

Beautiful home! I really love the kitchen, think I will put that in my Dream Home book.

  23. love this! thanks for sharing Susan, it’s fun to dream!

  24. Oh, man. It is under contract, just when I was budgeting for my bid!

  25. LindY G Sherrod says:

Everything about it was my favorite and all with that fabulous view, WOW. I would never get anything done, would be sitting or standing starring at all the beauty. Thank you so much for sharing.

  26. Hi Susan. When I saw Connecticut, I was wondering. Have you ever seen or know how to see Kathy Lee Giffords home? Do you know who I’m talking about? I would love to see her home. If you have any info, I would love to know. Thanks. I enjoyed this home very much.

  27. Beautiful home!!!!

  28. Marilyn in Mt. Vernon, VA says:

I do believe I am speechless. Incredibly, perfectly beautiful. I LOVED Denise’s comments above…still chuckling!!

I'd love to hear from you! Please leave a comment!
