A Colorful Upgrade–I’m In Love With This Beautiful Weather Station!

Welcome to the 712th Metamorphosis Monday!

How was your weekend? I hope it was restful and fun! For this week’s Met Monday, I have a small Before/After that makes me smile from ear-to-ear each time I see it–which just so happens to be multiple times per day. It’s a small addition here in the kitchen. I’ve been enjoying it so much, I ended up purchasing another one for my office. What has me grinning ear to ear? In the past, I had a small weather station that lived on the small desk visible in this picture below on the left.

The sensor for this weather station was out on the screened porch. I’ve enjoyed having it here in the kitchen since it lets me see at a glance what the weather is like before I ever open the door to the porch. Unfortunately, it had the annoying habit of flashing periodically for no apparent reason. Per the instructions, that’s supposed to indicate some kind of interference between the remote sensor and the station. Changing the channel inside the station didn’t help, nor did moving the sensor or changing the batteries inside the sensor. Eventually, the flashing always stopped, but it was super annoying while it was going on. After having this issue for many years, I recently decided to replace it with a new, updated weather station. I’m sure the technology of weather stations has improved since I purchased this one so many years ago.

I moved the old weather station (along with its sensor) to the tool chest here in the garage, and it’s working flawlessly here. This photo was taken before I moved it here. Side note: I finally got around to hanging the big star back on the wall here in the garage.

The old weather station seems very happy in its new home–no more flashing! I like being able to check the temperature/humidity in the garage whenever I’m out here. So with what did I replace this older weather station?

Technology has changed and I’m in love with this colorful Weather Station! It has been working beautifully with zero flashing. I have its sensor out on the porch where I used to have the sensor for the black and white weather station. When I first come down in the morning or I’m working here in the kitchen, I love seeing the temperature out on the porch, and I’m absolutely crazy about this colorful display. You can tell that I had the door open to the porch this day by the humidity level, plus it was about to start raining as indicated on the weather station.

I loved this weather station so much, after it arrived, I ordered a second one right away for my office upstairs. As many as 3 weather stations can be connected to a single sensor, so once I plugged it in, it automatically detected the sensor that was already down on the porch. I’m tempted to add a 3rd one to my dressing area upstairs so I’ll have the weather at a glance when I’m getting dressed in the morning.

I really like how it shows the various phases of the moon! Next to knowing the temperature at a glance, that’s my favorite thing about this weather station! It was sooo pretty a few days ago when we had a full moon. If you could use a colorful weather station in your home, you’ll find this one available here: Weather Station.

  1. Fancy looking new weather station. DH has several here at our home. They can be fussy. He suggests unplugging 24 hours if you have issues. Sometimes electronic stuff will sort itself out after that. Your kitchen looks so pretty all it up.

  2. Thanks so much Susan! Your weather stations are very cool, we are so spoiled these days, we always want instant information ha ha!

  3. I had one like your original version, but I seem to recall mine had a horizontal aspect. Otherwise, it looks identical. I loved it but when we started getting iffy results, I had to say good-bye. I like the pretty colorful one! I’ll have to check that out. And I vote you get one for your dressing area. That makes perfect sense!

  4. Wow – that’s really cool, and would be SO helpful in the dressing room. I love that idea! And the moon phases is really great too. So much fun technology! 🙂 Hope you have a lovely day, and thanks as always for hosting!

We “have a thing” for “Weather Stations,” too!! Ours, currently, look like your old one…although, no flashing…yet…franki

    • That’s good! I wonder if it has anything to do with the undercabinet lighting in my kitchen. I know at one time it caused issues with my light switches that run my ceiling fans on the porch, but the company that makes those sent me something that plugged in and it stopped that issue. It seems to be working perfectly in the garage.

  6. I’ve been looking for something to gift my husband for his 70th birthday next month. He hasn’t requested anything special because he says, “I already have everything I want.”; and he’s right. He has plenty of gadgets and every tool you can imagine for his workshop; so, I’ve been at a loss. He’s not big on electronics; however, this item is exactly what he needs. Recently retired, he works daily outside on various projects, but before heading out he always wants to know the forecast. A weather station would be great for him! Thanks, for ending my search. I’m ordering it today.

  7. We have one just like yours and enjoy it so much we’ve bought 2 more for family members. And you’re right…it’s very colorful.

    • It is–it feels so fancy and hi-tech. 🙂 I’m going to buy a couple to give as gifts this Christmas. So glad you are enjoying yours too, Catherine!

  8. Oh I do love this weather station Susan! I have been in the market for a new one myself. Love all this has and I love the beautiful, colorized moon phases-how fun is that?! We had one similar to your old one years ago. I really love how beautiful your new one is, a pleasure to look at. I also love that you can have a few linked together, great idea for one in your dressing room as then you will know how to dress for the day! Hugs, Brenda

  9. Oh, my mother would have loved to have one of those! She was a big fan of the weather channel on TV. I may have to add this to my wish list, in her memory.

  10. Cyndi Raines says

Pretty awesome, especially with the moon phases. Putting it on my wish list, so when my current one goes, I’ll know eaxctly what to get. Thank you Susan!

  11. I just replaced the battery it works fine now

  12. Jill from Southern NH says

    Hi Susan,

I read this post last week but it just occurred to me today that this would make an ideal Christmas gift for my husband! Every morning when he is getting dressed I’m starting my day with coffee in the kitchen, and he calls down from the closet to ask me if I know the weather, and I tell him to hold on while the weather website slowly loads on my phone, and then I have to choose either hourly or 10 day forecast, which takes even more time, and we both need to know the weather for the day to get dressed. My question for you is if we buy just one weather station, could it be anywhere in the house to work, or does it have to be pretty well lined up with the outdoor remote sensor? We have a grey screen digital LL Bean thermometer on the kitchen windowsill which is pretty close to its corresponding sensor on the deck, but our closet is farther away, so if we put a weather station there we would not be able to have an outdoor sensor so closeby.
