Create Wonderful Outdoor Spaces for Dining in the Garden

Welcome to the 560th Tablescape Thursday!

A few days ago I took you into a wonderful garden that was part of the Secret Gardens of Avondale tour a friend and I enjoyed a few weekends ago. There was one particular garden that really stood out for me. In addition to having a wonderful screened-in summer house…

…and lots of little outdoor seating areas perfect for chatting…

…there were also plenty of delightful places for entertaining and dining. This little area was just a few feet away from the main house and it looked like the perfect place for entertaining when you want to be outside but with some of the comforts of being indoors.

Entertaining in a Summer House

Can you just imagine how nice it must be to dine here in the evening with the candles lit! I loved all the whimsical art hanging on the walls. Such a fun space!

Love all the bright colors in this tablescape!

We had to force ourselves to leave this delightful room to explore the rest of the garden.

A little further into the garden we came across this lovely spot for dining. Notice how the addition of the plates hanging on the fence nearby gives this little area of the garden the feel of being its own little room.Decorate a fence with pottery, Outdoor Dining

That’s what I loved so much about the design of this garden–all those individual spaces they’ve created for summer escapes. It would be so much fun to throw a summer party and have friends dining all throughout the garden.

Another beautiful table setting…love the blue and white color scheme for this table.

I’ll leave you with this final little table tucked away in a cozy spot here on the deck.

This table was created with an “herb” theme using an herb-themed tablecloth and dishware.

I love the soft green colors…so pretty!

The centerpiece was wonderful!

Thanks so much for all the lovely comments you left on Tuesday’s post about my colorful atomizer collection. I was driving for 9 hours on Tuesday and a bit sleep deprived/car-lagged on Wednesday, so I haven’t had a chance to leave any replies, but I’ll be doing that real soon. I always love hearing from you and learn so much from you, so thanks for sharing your favorite scents/fragrances on that post. I’m looking forward to trying some of the ones you suggested!

Looking forward to the beautiful tables shared for this week’s Tablescape Thursday!

  1. Love that bright colored tablescape you shared today. What a fun place to visit! Thank you for hosting your fabulous parties each week so much inspiration here!
    Hugs,
    Karin

    • Such a fun garden tour. Those plates hanging on the wood fence really did add a nice finishing touch without being overwhelming. And I’d like a seat at that herbal table, please.

  2. Fun to see all these alfresco settings. Happy Patirotic Summer, Susan. Thanks for hosting us.

Oh, what lovely garden dining settings! What a treat it was to visit there – so up your alley with all the wonderful tablescapes! Each and every single one is just so perfect for your Tablescape Thursday link party! ♥

These are all gorgeous – so inviting – but how do you manage the mosquitoes? I can’t even get the mail without collecting another bite or three. If I had a meal outside, I’d look (and feel) like I had measles.

  5. So many beautiful places to style a table! I do think the herb themed table is my favorite! Alas, in Florida, the time of year has come that we are chased indoors by heat and humidity, but alfresco dining is something we can enjoy a good 9 months out of the year here! Thanks for sharing your tour!

What a beautiful and fun, relaxing garden tour! The eating areas are extra special. Sounds like you are back up North! Good! Glad you arrived safely. Susan, if you want to tour a lovely porch, you and your family should make the drive up to northern Michigan and ferry across to see The Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island. You would take one the ferry boats across to the island and enjoy your day walking and visiting
all the fudge shops or you can bike around the island as their aren’t any vehicles on the island, or take a horse and buggy ride. There is a real fort with live re-enactments that the boys would enjoy. This is also where the movie “Somewhere In Time” was filmed with Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour. The Grand Hotel is awesome, you would love it with a porch that is 660 feet long and gardens with more than 150 varieties of flowers. Be sure to go to http://www.mackinawisland.org to read more about this awesome place. It would not disappoint! Happy summer travels!

  7. Margaret says

The lady that has the inside/outside garden had a brilliant idea. She probable has a large extended family. And, a wonderful time is had by all. I love it.

  8. What a great combination – gardens and tablescapes! That would’ve been a heavenly outing for me. That primary color scheme was really fun (chairs and art included), but that herb-inspired table drew me right in.

  9. Such a gem and so fortunate to have a long season to enjoy it. Thanks for sharing it Susan. -Brenda-
P.S.: Were I live we are still waiting for a decent Spring as we’ve had cool weather on the whole with little sunshine.
