Enchanting Spring Table with Beautiful, Vintage China: Homer Laughlin’s, Georgian

Welcome to the 708th Tablescape Thursday!

I have a delightful table to share with you today! If you live in an area where spring is dilly dallying around and taking forever to show up, I promise this table with uplift your spirits! Franki, a lovely BNOTP reader, recently shared this beautiful spring table with me that she put together for an Easter gathering. Though not part of the table, I love this darling Spring Egg Tree she created!

Spring Floral Arrangement

Franki set the most magical table for Easter this year! I love everything about it, especially those beautiful blue wine glasses!

Franki created a stunning centerpiece for her table!

Colorful Spring Table with Bunny Napkin Fold

I love all the flowers! Franki used a beautiful vintage china with a lovely floral pattern for this setting, so perfect for spring!

Regarding the vintage china Franki chose for this setting, she said, “It’s my mom’s engagement gift from dad in 1942…it’s “eggshell GEORGIAN by Homer Laughlin”…a set of 12…however, they are “seconds” as that’s all dad could afford before being “shipped off to Germany” in WWII.” What a sweet story–so many sacrifices made by the Greatest Generation! So thankful for their service!

Did you notice the adorable bunny napkin fold Franki chose for her setting? You’ll find the tutorial for making this napkin fold here: Bunny Napkin Fold.

Another view of the beautiful greenhouse centerpiece…love that greenhouse!

Franki even added a touch of spring to her biscuits! Franki said, “The flower butter on the biscuits is made from old-timey cream cheese mint molds. I used Kerrygold butter that was in the fridge overnight and they popped right out.”

Franki had several desserts on hand. I love what she did with these macarons she found in Costco. Franki said, “These are macarons from Costco, but I zhuzh them with a dollop of frosting and an edible marzipan flower.”

Franki also served a delicious Coconut Cake saying, This Coconut Cake is made with “Coconut Cream.” You pulverize a cup of coconut and add it to a white cake mix. The coup de gras is the frosting–a Cream Cheese frosting but you add half a container of Cool Whip and blend in…fluffy & a little less sweet. The rose is artificial.” Love the eggs going around the outside! I really want to try this now, my grandsons would love this cake, as would the adults! (Update: Franki said she used Jordan Almonds to decorate the perimeter of the cake…love that idea!)

Thanks so much to Franki for sharing this wonderful spring table setting!

What a totally Eastery table for a wonderful family celebration! I love all the little tucked-in touches she does bc they add so much. I actually do the same thing in my tables and holiday decors. I even put colored sugars appropriate to each holiday sprinkled over the sugar in my sugar bowl when I set out my coffee. But my family looks forward to those things. One touch I love of hers is the butter flowers on the biscuits. I am going to have to share that one as I have chocolate molds for most every holiday. Thanks for a most inspiring post and please send some warmth up to New England as we are freezing our patoots off! Hugs, Dorinda

  3. This is such a beautiful table setting, Franki! So creative! Besides the photos, thanks also for sharing tips on how you do certain things with the food and the table. I plan to try some of those!

  4. Thank you for sharing this beautiful Easter table! I can’t wait to try the coconut cake and the biscuits look great! Why do I never think of these things! Glad you can help with inspiration.

Franki, It IS a magical setting! The story of your china makes it so special. Thank you for sharing it all with us.

  6. Is this Franki aka Mrs. Personality? Lol. She always has such fun posts. And this tablescape suits her big personality to a T. To start with, I love that tablecloth. I was actually looking for one with those colors this year and didn’t have any luck. The story of the china brought tears to my eyes. How sweet! How many men buy china for their wives? And he had to buy seconds because he was going off to war. So, so, touching. And all these years later Franki is still able to use it. The gold cutlery looks so soft and pretty beside it.

The touches like the napkin fold, the gold bunnies and the beautiful blue wine glasses are so lovely. And I agree with Dianne about Franki’s added tips. I love the idea of the butter molds. That was probably done more regularly at one point in time. We should bring that back! It’s such a nice touch. And the coconut cream cake looks delicious. Yum.

Franki really packed in a lot of good stuff. I hope you and yours had a wonderful Easter celebration, Franki. Thanks to you and Susan for sharing.

Now…I’m verklempt…appreciate yours and everyones kind remarks!! You mentioned “the tablecovering”…it is a remnant from “Hobby Lobby!!” It’s kinda stretchie and I tied a knot on all the corners to “disguise I didn’t hem it…) whoops…busted… The place mats are “marbeled paper!!” Think I’ve got to frame one or more…Michael’s and it is just…cool!! Told Susan I’m nicknamed “Sparkle Nana” well we covered those battery candles with…yep, Sparkle paper! Double back sticky tape works…I call them…”candle covers.” We’ve made several sets as they are removeable. Anyway, back to eating the remaining Jordan Almonds. HAPPY DAY ALL & Susan is just the best!! franki

      • Lol. Mrs. Personality is verklempt. 😀 (I just learned something. I always thought it was perklempt. Haha.) And anyway, you busted yourself! I would never have known about the ‘tablecloth’ if you hadn’t tattled on yourself, lol. I do love that pretty pansy fabric. But save me some of those Jordan Almonds, will ya? I haven’t had any in years! Decades, actually. 😀 And I agree, Susan is a good egg.

  7. I love the china, what a beautiful pattern .

  8. Just lovely! Cake sounds wonderful! The blue glasses are gorgeous!
