Foxgloves in the Garden

A few days ago, I shared some pics of the beautiful gardens around the home of Arthur Blank, a co-founder of The Home Depot and the owner of the Atlanta Falcons. One of the things I especially love about this tour, Gardens for the Connoisseur, is it always takes place on Mother’s Day weekend and the foxgloves, my very favorite flower, are always in bloom.

These pics were taken in another garden on the tour…and I went a little crazy…just couldn’t stop myself from snapping lots of pics of all the foxgloves in this wonderful garden. I just love ’em!

Did you know they make Digitalis, the heart medicine, from this flower? The actual name of the common foxglove is, Digitalis Purpurea.

I took a good many pics on the tour…I’ll share some more later on. For now, I’ll leave you with these lovely images. Isn’t she the cutest thing?! Do you see the kitty cat? Such detail…she even has a garden hat in her hand. 🙂

The tall purple flower growing behind her is allium.

Growing up in the woods of Oregon ( yes, really ) the forest was full of foxgloves. It was magical as a child. That's why foxgloves have a special place in my heart. Your photos of the foxglove garden is great. They really need to be massed together to be truly appreciated. Thanks for this post.

  4. Beautiful! Foxgloves always remind me of my Grandma…..she had beautiful ones in her garden. It's nice to hear that they are used for medicinal purposes!!! Happy Pink Saturday.

  5. Hi, Susan. You took beautiful pictures! All of those flowers look absolutely gorgeous… As does your tablescape below this post for Tablescape Thursday! I just took a look at that too. Your porch looks so pretty 'peeking in' from the outside. And everything looks so pretty in your candlelight pics. Oh, and I love your new little lighted butterfly and your tealight holder! So nice! Well, thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!
    Best regards,

Oh, Susan! What a joy to see those foxgloves. They are one of my favorite flowers, but alas, they do not like our climate. Love the little statue, too, and I have allium in our yard. Thanks for sharing.

I've never seen so many foxgloves all in one place! These are a favorite of mine too, and I'm so happy that one of mine actually came back this year. I've heard that it's a biennial, but the one I bought last year says it's a perennial. I really enjoyed seeing these pictures, for my first Pink Saturday!
    Have a great weekend!
