Home-Made Salsa Recipe: Delicious & Easy to Make

Welcome to the 481st Metamorphosis Monday!

I have a yummy treat for you for this week’s Met Monday! My friend, Linda, a native Texan, makes a fabulous salsa that’s always a big hit with all of her friends and family. Whenever there’s a get-together in the works, she always gets requests to bring her delicious salsa.

Recently when Linda made it for a party, she took some photos of the process so I could share them with you. After seeing how it’s made, I know I will be making it this summer!

To make this Salsa, these are the few ingredients you’ll need:

1 can Hunts Fire Roasted, diced tomatoes
2 cans Rotel Original tomatoes & chiles (there may be similar brands in your area that you can use)
1/8 of a large purple onion – diced
1-2 medium size jalapenos – seeded & diced (you may want to start with just 1 jalapeno and taste test to see if you need more, or you can add seeds for more heat)
3-4 cloves garlic  – diced (you can use garlic powder instead – 1 tsp)
1 small bunch cilantro – remove leaves from stems
1-2 small limes – juice  (I like limes, so I usually use 2 small or 1 large lime)

Ingredients to make delicious Salsa Recipe

Start by emptying one can of Rotel into a blender.

Add the remaining can of Rotel into the blender.

Tip: If you like your Salsa on the thicker side, drain the liquid off before adding in the contents of the second can of Rotel.

Pulse about 7-8 times to mix everything up. Taste the salsa to see if you need more lime juice, or more jalapenos if you prefer your salsa with a bit more heat.

Metamorphosis Monday

Metamorphosis Monday is a party that’s all about Before and Afters. If you are participating in Met Monday, please link up using the “permalink” to your MM post and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then just copy and paste the address that shows up in the address bar at the top of your blog, into the “url” box for InLinkz.

In order to link up, you’ll need to include a link in your MM post back to the party so the other participants will have an opportunity to receive visits from your wonderful blog readers.

Please observe these few rules:

Please link up Before and After posts that are home, gardening, decorating, crafting, painting, sewing, cooking, fashion or DIY related.

Be sure to include a link back to the party in your post, so your readers will be able to find and visit the other bloggers who are participating.

Do not link up to the party if you’re only doing so to promote or sell a product.

To those who are linking up: If you notice a shop or online store linking up to sell products (yes, unfortunately, that does happen) please let me know so I can remove their link and block them from participating in future parties. No one wants to click a link expecting a Before and After, only to find a spam link to an online business/store.

  7. Love love love salsa. This is very similar to one I make. You might add 1/2 tsp of cumin for an extra touch of flavor. A 1/2 tsp of salt would be a nice addition too-brings out the flavors. Looks so good I make have to make some right now on this cold New England day.

  8. Yummo – pinned, and thank you!

This is Linda and that’s my salsa recipe. So glad everyone is excited about it. The only problem with the salsa is that I stand at the kitchen counter just eating it with chips until I eat half the container!!! Don’t know when to stop. Thanks to Barbara H for the tip about the cumin. Will try it on the next batch. I don’t add salt since the chips I eat with it are salty and I’m not supposed to have salt (ugh!!) but salt can definitely be added. Y’all enjoy! Thanks Susan for sharing!

You’re right about the salt, Linda. I should have said to taste first with a chip. Also, you might start with a 1/4 tsp of cumin to see if you like it. Although I live in Rhode Island now, I was a Texas gal for a long time-those Tex-Mex taste buds are hard to extinguish!

Looks like a great salsa recipe!
One note of caution for some folks, like me and two others in my family. We have a gene that makes cilantro taste like soapsuds and I didn’t know about it until we lived in TX and my co-workers raved about a salsa I thought tasted soapy. I’d make this salsa without the cilantro. Our older son missed the gene and loves cilantro. Genetics in action!

    Wishing you well!

  16. Thank you for hosting!
