  4. Susan,

My husband and I honeymooned on Maui. We had planned to break the trip up on the way home by stopping in San Francisco for 3 days.(11.5 hr plane ride. Need I say more?) We were enjoying the Island so much we seriously considered cancelling San Francisco. Alas, we kept to our itinerary. (In hindsight I’m happy we did as it is such a beautiful city). Keeping in mind we were there 30 yrs ago this month, here are a couple suggestions for you. If you are looking for a good steak (Prime Rib was their specialty) with a beautiful waterfront view – I would suggest Kimo’s Restaurant. Go at sunset! High on my list would be the Haleakala Sunrise Tour. A shuttle picked us up at our hotel. Our guide was wonderful, full of Island history and even made an extra stop at a Sugar Cane Plantation afterwards. Our Hotel offered a Luau on the beach which was so much fun. Hellicopter Tours were also highly recommended, we did not do this! lol As a little surprise to family/friends back home, we mailed fresh Coconuts to everyone. Just wrote their addresses on the shell and the shop shipped them off. They loved them! I am sure the Island is much more built up now and you will not be at a loss for things to do. Enjoy your unexpected trip! Looking forward to your posts & pictures!

    Safe travels, Leslie

    • If you have a Samsung phone, they have tons of beautiful themes in their theme store…very inexpensive to buy, only $1-2 each. I love changing the one on my phone often.

Susan, I went to Maui by myself about six years ago. Had a most memorable time! There is so much to see and do, it didn’t bother me to be by myself as people are so friendly. I stayed at the lower end of Maui at a excellent resort. Found that many sight seeing places were at the other end of Maui, but that was okay as it was an easy drive. Be sure to take a drive off the main route into the hills to see how native Hawaiians live. You will see chickens running around in yards. Lol!

My system didn’t adjust to the time change. I got up at 6-6:30 am and was ready for bed by 9:00pm. Since I was alone, going out at night was not my cup of tea, so it worked out fine. Did go to a luau. Probably did all that was in a tourist book. Enjoy!!!!!

  20. Oh Susan,
I missed this for some reason, but… wow… Hawaii!?
Gosh, I have always dreamed of Hawaiian beaches but unlike you, I’d worship the sun all day long! 🙂
I am so glad you opted to go! Enjoy your unplanned vacation!
You are so lucky to have such a nice friend! 🙂
PS: I need new friends! Definitely! lol
    Me ke Aloha pumehana! 🙂
