In The BNOTP Library: French Influences

It’s been a few days since I shared a book from my Decor*Gardening*Entertaining library. I’ve been working on something and it should be ready real soon.

I know some Between Naps On The Porch readers enjoy getting an email when a new post is up at BNOTP but I’m guessing not everyone who reads BNTOP may be interested in the book review posts. I haven’t had any complaints but just to make sure you aren’t getting emails from BNOTP that you don’t want, sometime soon I’ll have a separate opt-in option for the library post updates.

The separate opt-in for the book posts will just be a way those of you who enjoy the “In The BNOTP Library” book review posts can ensure you’ll continue to receive those updates in addition to the regular post updates. So look for that change real soon.

Postcards From The Porch

Remember Postcards From The Porch, the weekly newsletter I was sending out last year?

Postcards from the Porch

I’m looking into starting it back up. I discontinued sending it last summer when Max, my much-loved furbaby became very ill. I just couldn’t take care of him, blog and create the newsletter, too…so the newsletter had to be set aside.

I’m eager to get it going again so look for that announcement soon. Again, there will be a separate opt-in option for that, as well. That way you’ll only be receiving the emails you really want to receive in your Inbox.

In the meantime, if you would like to subscribe to the newseltter, you can do that here: Postcards From The Porch

In The BNOTP Library

I have a great book to share from my decor library on this lazy Sunday afternoon. This one is from one of my fave authors, Betty Lou Phillips, I have eight of her books! Do you know this author? If you love French design or French Country Decor, I bet you know her well!

French Influences by Betty Lou Phillips

3 Things I Like About This Book:

  • Filled with lots of pictures of stunning rooms decorated in beautiful French elegance and style. All the rooms in this book are to-die-for!
  • No cold or impersonal feeling spaces, all are warm and inviting. Lots of gorgeous antiques, beautiful draperies, gorgeous rugs…just a visual feast for the eyes.
  • Betty Lou Phillips is a master of French design. If you love this style of decorating, you’ll love all her books. Also, you can usually find her books for great prices on Amazon. Betty’s books were some of the very first ones I ever bought at Amazon because they were so affordable, which is amazing since they are such big beautiful books.

Something Odd: I noticed Amazon isn’t showing the correct cover for this book. They are instead showing the end papers of the book. Weird! So ignore the yellow fleur-de-lis picture you’ll see representing the book at Amazon. The book cover actually looks like the picture I have in this post above. They are really doing  a disservice to the book by not showing its beautiful cover. I guess it’s a glitch on their end.

You can read more about this book at Amazon here: French Influences.

You’ll find previously featured books from the BNTOP library here: In The BNOTP Library or just click on the collage below.

Sounds like a wonderful book. Not that I need another decorating book, but I know I’ll be getting one. Thanks, Susan.

  2. Ahhhhhhhhh, Susan how have I only just realized you are also a “Georgia Girl”. I don’t know if you are a native of the area or have relocated from another part of the country. My roots are in the rural South Georgia Area . If any of our Blogger contacts from Ga.,Fl, Alabama ever get together a meet up of kindred spirits…please let me know. I would love to have an excuse to gather with some of the bloggers I follow and who stop by my LGH blog. [Ga. is still home but I’m in South Alabama now].

I enjoy all the posts coming from BNOTP!

Happy Sunday, heading over to Amazon now. =)

  4. Susan, I love all of your posts and want to receive all of them. If I signed up for the newsletter last year, do I need to sign up again? And I know that sweet Max is meowing down from heaven at you!

    • Thanks Jane! I don’t think you’ll need to but I’ll be sure to let everyone know once that first newsletter goes out so if for some reason you don’t get it, I can unsubscribe you and then subscribe you again. Hopefully it will arrive just fine. Awww, thanks so much, Jane! I miss him so much, still! I’m praying we will see our furbabies again one day!

Susan, that conservatory! It definitely has a different look and feel to the stately English conservatories I am accustomed to, but wow, it’s just as gorgeous. Funny how small changes (like the arched doors and the design in the roof glass) can give a room a distinctively “French,” quality. The poor French, they sure get beat up by some Americans. But I think they forget how the French saved our hineys during the revolution and that we wouldn’t be the country we are today, had they not helped. At any rate, the room is beautiful. Thanks for another book suggestion. 🙂

I forgot to mention how pretty the porch looks in that picture, with all the red. I love the usual ‘laid back’ vibe you have going on, but this vibrant color scheme with the red, blue and yellow looks great too.

  7. I love Betty Lou Phillip’s books..will have to check this one out!!!…
