Daffodils, Daisies, and 4-Leaf Clovers for St. Patrick’s Day

Welcome to the 702nd Tablescape Thursday!

The daffodils in my front yard are blooming–they’ve been blooming for the last couple of weeks–I love seeing their sunshine faces so much!

Daffodils Around Lamp Post

Every year when they bloom, it makes me want to plant even more. I currently have them around the gas lantern (above), in this island under the Crepe Mrytle tree where I’d love to place a Little Free Library someday, and in two little areas down near my front walkway. I think this fall I’ll add more on the other side of my front walkway. You can never have too many daffodils, right?! This photo was taken a few weeks back when they were just starting to bloom.

The daffodils found their way to the center of my table setting this week.

Here’s a little sunshine for your Thursday!

Daffodils Centerpiece, Saint Patrick's Day Table

You may remember this happy container that I came across in HomeGoods recently. (Read more about that here: Spring Shopping & What I Brought Home from HomeGoods Today.)

Daffodils in Floral Vase

Daffodils, daisies, butterflies, and bees–I wish every day could be just like this.

Saint Patrick's Day Tablescape and Dinnerware

Remember the green charger plates I purchaseed back around Christmastime? They are available in both red and green here: Green and Red Charger Plates.

Green Chargers, Braided Glass Chargers

I was happy to find they work great for a St. Paddy’s Day table, too!

St. Patrick's Day Plates and Shamrock Ramekin

Green is my favorite color! What is your favorite color?

Saint Patrick's Day Dinnerware

The 4-Leaf Clover salad plates were a find in HomeGoods many years ago, as were the little green ramekins. (Plates are by Mesa Home Procuts and the ramekins are by Chantal.)

4-Leaf Clover Plates, Shamrock Ramekin

Every year I forget and have to do a search to remind myself of the difference between shamrocks and 4-leaf clovers. Shamrocks are easy to spot since they only have 3 leaves.

Green Shamrock Napkins

Our daisy glasses were also a recent find in HomeGoods, could not pass these adorable glasses up!

Daisy Wine Glasses

Happy St. Patrick’s Day a little early! Will you be celebrating this year? I wonder if they’ll dye the river in Savannah green this year?

If you are participating in Tablescape Thursday, please be sure to add your permalink below, and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then copy and paste the address showing in the address bar, into the “url” box when you link up. You’ll need to include a link in your post back to the party to link up and participate.

That’s so visitors to your blog will be able to find the party and the other Tablescape Thursday participants. Requiring a link back also prevents businesses and scammers from linking up to sell their products. (Yep, that really happens, unfortunately.) If you see a post that’s not table-setting related, let me know and I’ll remove it.

Please, don’t add your post name/blog name ALL IN CAPS…it tends to create big spaces between the rows of links. Please link up table setting or table setting related posts only for Tablescape Thursday.

  1. With those daffodils, you don’t need another thing. They are so beautiful!!! Boy, do we need spring around here. I love the table, Susan, especially those green goblets. Whenever I see them on your posts, it makes me want to run out and get them, but we are in the middle of downsizing in preparation for a move at the end of the year, so I’m trying to be good. Happy St. Pat’s!

    • Thanks so much, Maria! I think I found those goblets in HomeGoods quite a few years back, either there or Pier 1. I know downsizing is not easy. Happy St. Paddy’s Day to you!

  2. Top of the mornin’ to you, Susan! Your daffodils make me smile. Such happy flowers! I need to replant some in my soon to be new courtyard. Lots to do here. Thanks for hosting. Your St. Pat’s table is full of delightful details. Hope your stop by my blog for some Irish coffee at my St. Pat’s table.

THAT HAS Sunshine written all over those cute little faces…smiling!! franki

  4. Susan my spring bulbs are only 3″ tall. It won’t be until another month before I can enjoy them. Thank you for sharing yours! And thank you for hosting two link parties. I know the effort it takes, and I really do appreciate it!
    Hugs,
    Rachelle

    • Thanks so much, Rachelle! Oh, I’m jealous that yours are just coming up because that means you still have the joy of them blooming ahead! I’m supposed to visit family in Ohio in a few weeks and I’m really hoping I get a second spring when I do. That’s normally how it works out when I visit with them a month of so after things are blooming here.

  5. Your daffodils are gorgeous Susan – I love them because they’re so springy and bright and happy! Your St Patrick’s table is lovely too with those fun glasses. Thanks for the inspiration and as always, for hosting! Happy springy Thursday!

  6. Green is my favorite color, too and I love your St. Patrick’s Day table! Daffodils are the cheeriest; I love driving by houses where they’re blooming. I bet your neighbors smile when they drive past yours! We moved into a new house last fall and I wasn’t able to plant any bulbs…plus, I didn’t know what was already planted (which turned out to be no bulbs at all). So I don’t have any daffodils this year, but I’ll be planting some in the fall!

    • Leah, I wish I could high-five you through my computer…green is such a gorgeous vibrant, full-of-life color!
I hope they do put a smile on their faces. That’s such a good point about not knowing exactly what you have until the spring season hits. Now you’ll know just where to put them for next spring.

  7. Thank you for this gorgeous post! Smiles all around!

  8. Love the daffodils but wonder what is there after they finish blooming.

    • After they stop blooming, you have the pretty foliage. Then eventually it goes away until the next year. They bloom for about a month though, one of the first flowers to appear in the springtime.

  9. Susan your daffodils are beautiful! They steal the show! Such a fun and pretty table, thank you for the party~

  10. Love the daffodils and yes, you must plant more! Curious what you might serve in the clover ramekins.

  11. Pretty table and the charger sets off the plates beautifully. Love, love daffodils. Unlike tulips they come back year after year. You might want to try mini daffodils as they are the cutest little bloomers. Tom Thumb and Jumping Jacks are two varieties that I have.

    • Yes! When I love tulips but they def don’t return the following year here in Georgia, we only get the foliage the second year. I have placed them in containers though–since they are easy to dig back up that way.
The mini daffodils sound really cute!

  12. What beautiful flowers. The plates are lovely and so festive for the occasion. Thank you for sharing.
    HAPPY ST. PATRICK;S DAY

  13. This is such a beautiful table! The daffodils are sheer perfection, they are such a happy yellow color!! This is a very sweet, colorful version of a St. Patrick’s Day table. I wanted to tell you: My mom planted daffodil bulbs in a flower bed on the side of her house in 1974; my older sister Anna was going to have a simple backyard wedding in January 1975, and Mom wanted flowers in the side yard, where the guests would be going into the back yard. My mom chose daffodils because my sister’s wedding colors were yellow and white. My mom never did much to take care of the daffodils afterwards except water them once in a while (this is in Phoenix!) and cut down the dead greenery when the bulbs went dormant. My mom and stepdad are now deceased, she died at age 92, he died at age 90. Anna has been gone for five years. My parents’ house has stood vacant for almost 3 years. I went by the house about 6 weeks ago and the daffodils were blooming!!! The bulbs are 48 years old and still blooming! It brought tears to my eyes, such sweet, bittersweet memories. Thank you so much again for another beautiful Tablescape Thursday. XO

    • Oh Elena, that story made me tear up.

    • That truly is bittersweet, to see them in bloom and to know they are there because of your Mom and Anna’s wedding. I wish life would just stand still sometimes and quit moving on. You are brave to drive back by, not sure my heart could take it.
Daffodils are amazing. I’ve never really done anything to these since I planted them around 20+ years ago. I just make sure that the leaves/foliage turns yellow and completely dies down to the ground before I cut it off because the bulb gets its energy and food to bloom the next year from the sun that the leaves take in once the flower has stopped blooming–or at least that’s what I’ve read/heard. I know with some bulbs, you’re supposed to dig them up every so many years and spread them out, not sure if that’s a necessity with daffodils or not.

  14. I am obsessed with the daisy glasses and vase!!! Love your spring table!

  15. Beautiful table Susan! Those daffodils are just such happy flowers – how can you not smile? Your new wine glasses are gorgeous and happy for you that you were able to use your green chargers from Christmas. They look lovely!
    Happy Thursday!

    • Thanks so much, Kim! I’m almost afraid to use them, afraid I’ll drop and break one since I was only able to locate 4.
Hope you have an amazing weekend!

  17. Your daffodils are gorgeous Susan, a sure sign that spring is coming! I also love your gorgeous table setting, you gave me spring fever with it. lol I love the daisy glasses and vase, another that evokes spring fever. Those chargers indeed work well with this St. Patty’s Day setting, love the shamrock dishes and 4 leaf clover plates! Such a fun setting, but also spring fever inducing setting. lol Love, it!! My favorite color??? Gosh, it changes all the time, but green is a huge color that is a constant in my home. But I love all the colors, with green, pink, yellow, gray and red being my top colors. Hugs, Brenda

    • Thanks so much, Brenda! Yes, gotta get a bit more mileage out of those chargers! 😉
I know what you mean, if you looked in my closet, you would think blue was my favorite color–and bright pink for summer.
      Happy Spring, Brenda!

  18. Maureen E. says

Where did you get the green glasses in this tablescape, Susan? Do they have a brand name?

    Thank you.

    Maureen

    • Those came from HomeGoods. It seems like they are by La Rochere…the same folks who make the bee glassware that I love and use as my everyday glasses. Not sure if I am remembering that correctly, though.

      • Maureen E. says

Thank you! They’re very pretty. I had the bee glasses, too, and loved them but ended up selling them. My space is very limited! Please let me know if you ever see the green ones like you featured here anywhere.
