Making Progress & A Favorite Sweater Is On Sale

Welcome to the 467th Metamorphosis Monday!

I’m still sick, but getting better. When I visited Urgent Care last week, the doctor said to call her if I wasn’t better by Thursday and she would call in an antibiotic. I was still not getting any better when Thursday came around, so I called the next day on Friday. My breathing has been terrible and all I have wanted to do is sleep–all day and all night.

The doctor called in an antibiotic. When I went to pick it up on Friday, the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Pharmacy I usually go to for those type things had randomly closed from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM for lunch. Apparently, this is a new policy or something. It was 1:35 and there was no way I could sit on that hard, cold, metal bench for 25 minutes feeling as I did. I drove home and went to bed.

Later that evening I drove over to Publix and had my account moved there so I would never have to deal with a closure time in the middle of the day again.  The pharmacist filled the antibiotic and I began taking it. Before I began taking it I could hardly breathe, and if you can’t breathe you have absolutely no energy. I couldn’t have fought my way out of a paper bag.

I’ve been taking the antibiotic twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening, and I can see a huge improvement. The wheezing from the bronchitis is greatly reduced and I can breathe so much better. I feel like I’m finally headed in the right direction.

The only thing I got done over the weekend was I removed all the wreaths from the front of the house except for the two on the garage windows. I’ll get that done soon. My energy is starting to come back, but right now I still just want to sleep all day. I guess that’s how our bodies heal.

I hope you are staying well, dear Friends!

Before I close out this post and go back to bed, I thought I’d share something kinda weird. I don’t know what’s gotten into me, maybe it’s spring fever, but I’ve become a bit obsessed with the colors pink and cream lately. It may have started with this sweater I found in Orvis.

Orvis Sweater

The colors are just so pretty, so feminine. I got a lot of compliments on it when I wore it in Germany, including from a gentleman when I was boarding the flight for Europe. As I was inching my way down the aisle looking for my seat, he yelled out, “If there’s a most beautiful sweater contest, you’ll be the winner.” lol You know a sweater is pretty when a random guy on a flight notices and comments right in the middle of the craziness of boarding!

This sweater is currently on sale half off, so I purchased a second one this morning as I was writing this post. That way I’ll have it for a long time, I don’t want it to wear out anytime soon. If you are looking for a cozy sweater and love the color pink, you’ll find this sweater under the “Sweater Sale” category at Orvis, HERE.

Sweater, Orvis

Oh, and this sweater looks really good with Talbots burgundy jeggings in the color, Wildberry. That’s what I have on right now with it, and I love how it looks. You’ll find the Wildberry jeggings on sale half-off here: Jeggings. I ordered a second pair of those today, too. I love Talbots jeggings, they are very flattering and always fit so well!

Wildberry Jeggings

Anyone else thinking pink these days?

Okay, I’m going back to bed for a bit, then I’ll tackle those last two wreaths. Thanks for being patient with me as I get over the remnants of the flu.

  1. Just got out of the hospital myself with pneumonia. My advice is take it easy and get well. Wreaths can wait.

    • The inside is going to stay decorated for a while, but I just hate seeing wreaths still up. Hope you feel better, Joy! This has been a brutal winter season!

      • In our area, trees go out early and wreaths stay through February…sort of a winter decoration. Red for Valentine’s day makes it okay, I guess, but after that, they have to go. Sadly, in this university town, some trees are on the curb even before Christmas when people leave town for the holidays.

        • I finally got the ones on the windows down, but I’m leaving the one on the front door. I love it there. Thanks, Joey! And I like that idea of red for Valentine’s Day! ♥

  2. Glad you’re improving!

  3. Susan, so glad to read you are feeling better. Don’t rush it and take care of yourself!

  4. So glad to hear you’re finally feeling a little better! Thanks for keeping the parties going while you’ve been so sick, and I can’t imagine traveling while you felt so awful! Take it easy!

  5. Susan,
Men rarely shout out about a sweater, I think you had an admirer! I am so sorry you have been so sick. My daughter got really sick too when out of town in Boston. They diagnosed her with bronchitis. She was having alot of difficulty breathing. Got back home and the clinic close to her said she had the flu as well. Thank goodness they loaded her up on meds.

    • I was really surprised, but it was a nice way to start that flight. Everything I read online said that antibiotics doesn’t always help with bronchitis, but it is certainly helping mine. I can see a big improvement.

  6. Sheila Cartelli says

So glad you are making progress. Sleep does help the body heal. When you have the opportunity start taking a really good probiotic to off set the “antis”
A healthy gut will strengthen your immunity…
Thank goodness you got home before this last mega storm.
    Take Care and Go SLOW,
    SheilaC

  7. So thankful you are on the mend. I am sorry your wonderful trip got messed up! Has your luggage shown up yet?

    • Yes, finally. They delivered it very early one morning after I had already been home a couple of days. I was so happy to see it! Thanks, Mary!

      • So happy to hear that you’re on the mend and that your bags finally found their way home.
        Feel better soon!

  8. Cheryl Gordon says

Glad you are starting to feel better, so sorry about getting so sick on your trip.

    • Thanks, Cheryl! I’m never traveling outside the country in the winter again. Never want to be outside the U.S. if I get the flu again.

  9. Sorry you are still struggling with the after affects of the bronchitis. I assume you are using the inhaler the doctor had prescribed- they really do help. Dan has had this issue more than once and he pulls through it much better using the inhaler. I love that sweater. Since we’ve had that terrible arctic snap I’ve found myself wearing my sweaters a lot more.

    • I tried to use it, but it doesn’t go anywhere, or at least it didn’t before I started the antibiotic. I should try it again, I guess. Before, it was just like hitting a brick wall, it would not go in at all, no matter if I blew out as much air as I could first. I’ll try it again now that I’ve been on the antibiotic a few days…maybe it will actually go in now. Thanks, Liz!

  10. Susan, so glad you’re inching your way back to normal!

You silly girl, it wasn’t just the sweater that random man was appreciating. ;o) It is gorgeous though. I love the pink.

When you first reported that you weren’t breathing well, I wanted to tell you about a magic elixir I stumbled upon. As an asthmatic, I have dealt with breathing problems all my life. A few years back I found something that I considered miraculous. I didn’t post about it only because it would be a long post and I didn’t want to take up a lot of space, but also because you’re situation is a little different and I thought you’d wind up on a prescription medicine. However, if you are interested or if there are any other asthmatics out there who would like to know, I would be glad to share.

Oatmeal and peach is a combination I never would have thought off, but I love that sweater and I’m off to see if they still have some left. So glad to hear from you.

    • Yes, we want to know. Thanks for offering.

      • Hi Myrna, I’m very happy to share this. I hope it helps you as much as it has helped me. I stumbled upon this idea while I was reading a book. One of the characters was making Ginger Milk Tea. It was winter at the time, and the thought of a new tea to try was appealing, so I made some. I liked it and kept drinking it. After about 2 weeks I realized I wasn’t using my inhaler as often. (I used an emergency inhaler every 3-4 hours and went through one inhaler a month.) I continued to drink the tea and found myself needing the inhaler less and less. Now, to emphasize what a dramatic change this was, I had been hospitalized from severe asthma attacks twice as an adult. My hospital stays lasted between 5-7 days. I had also had to go to the emergency room a few times over the years during this general period. The worst attack I can remember, I couldn’t get enough air to finish a sentence. In fact, I couldn’t get enough air to finish more than a syllable. For instance, if I were addressing Susan, I’d get out the Su and then have to take several breaths in order to get out the san. For years I used a nebulizer. And my inhaler went everywhere with me, needless to say.

I’m saying all of that to emphasize what a dramatic change this has made in my life. As I said, I continued drinking the tea and before I knew it, the length of time between uses of the inhaler kept growing. At this point, an inhaler lasts me close to a year!! The best part is, sometimes I get busy or forget to pick up the ginger at the store and even though I no longer drink the tea every day, I can still breathe!! After a while, I may get that familiar tightening in my chest and I am reminded I need to get serious and get some ginger and get back to drinking it.

So, here is how I make it. I buy fresh ginger root at the grocery store. I’ll cut off a piece roughly 2″ long. The root itself is maybe 1.5″ across. I then peel that and slice it. I put it in a pot of water (about 2 quarts) and bring it to a boil. I allow it to boil for a minute, then reduce the heat to a simmer/slow boil. I simmer it for 5-9 minutes more. After you’ve made it a while, you’ll become familiar with the color and quality the water takes on and you’ll know when you can stop it.

Once the water is prepared, you are ready to make your tea. The original recipe from the book called for black tea. But I use loose leaf oolong tea (if you don’t have a tea shop near you, you can get it on Amazon.) You could also use green tea, but I would suggesting sticking as close to the original recipe as possible, at first. From firsthand experience I can tell you the oolong tea works great. For an individual cup, you can steep your tea in the ginger water, then add honey and half and half to taste. It’s sensational and very warming. It’s particularly nice in the winter.

Now, I’ve been doing this for the past 4-5 years, so I have experimented with different teas, with half and half and no honey, with honey and no half and half, and even with neither the half and half or honey. I even chill the ginger water in the refrigerator and just have it plain like that, as a cold beverage. I do think there is something to the combination of all the ingredients, but even when I just drink the plain ginger water, I have a good outcome.

That’s it. As I said, I hope it helps you as remarkably as it has helped me. And please, tell everybody who has asthma or who knows someone with asthma. Ginger is a natural anti-inflammatory and therefore, aids with asthma. Good luck!

        • What a dramatic outcome. So happy for you that you found an amazing, and natural, treatment. Do you know of anyone who’s used it for inflammation other than asthma? Wishing you continued good health.

          • Hi Mia,

Thanks for the kind words. I have told many, many people about the ginger tea, but I have not heard back because it’s usually people I don’t know (just chatting in a line – or they may see me buying the ginger and ask me what I plan to do with it – that sort of thing.) So unfortunately, I haven’t had any feedback. However, my brother was recently diagnosed with COPD, so I have shared this with him and hope to hear that he has seen a similar improvement. I think the challenge will be for him to remember to drink it! 😀 But that’s another story ….

        • Thank you. I am going to try it. Not much of a tea drinker and prefer rooibus tea which is actually a herb. Anything is better than these inhalers.

          • Myrna, I do hope you have great results. I think the milk (or half & half or even cream) and the honey goes a long way to make it more palatable for those who don’t like tea. Tea is something I had to cultivate a taste for, myself. The albuterol inhalers were costing me about $67.00 per month! Now one lasts a year. 😀 Best of luck!

  11. Jill from Southern NH says

That’s quite the compliment! It is a gorgeous sweater – it stood out foremost to me in your pre-trip packing post. Very soft colors that I can imagine working with every kind of skin tone and hair color. And that sale price is perfect for a high quality item that like that! In fact I too am thinking pink these days! It’s been sub-zero or single digits lately here in new England and I’ve been dressing for warmth for work (no jeans permitted except Friday, unfortunately). Though it’s only January, I’m already tiring of the heavy sweater, black pants and boots rut I fall into every winter, so I’ve been implementing pink – either in the form of a mid-weight fuchsia scarf or purse, even a blush tote from Kate Spade I scooped up last year – into my look to brighten up this long winter a bit. Pink looks nice with my longtime favorite camel and off-white wool coats from Ann Taylor, and with cranberry pants, boots and totes, too! It’s warming up to the 30s and 40s here this week so I’m even thinking of venturing out with a floral scarf or blouse in a black & pink rose print soon! So glad you’re feeling better every day!!

  12. I’m pretty sure you take probiotics, but in case you’ve gotten out of the habit for some reason, make sure you take them while on these antibiotics!!! Okay, lecture over now. Ha!

Hope you’re back to your insanely energetic self soon!

  13. Regality (aka The Quing) says

Creamy pink seems to be the color of the season. All the catalogues I’ve been getting feature it. It’s really lovely and sweet. Too bad I’m not a pink kinda Quing.

    • Regality (aka The Quing) says

PS: Really glad to hear that you’re on the mend. My insurance plan (Kaiser) delivers drugs in situations like yours. Too bad you had to go through that mess. Have you gotten your baggage yet?

  14. Susan, that flu sounds like really nasty stuff! I’m glad to hear you’re on the mend… albeit slow mend. Take care and thank you for hosting. Liz

  15. Oh, girl…is there no end… I got it the day before New Years and “thought” it had peaked two days ago…ugh…not yet. Really luv the sweater!! Zzzzzz…franki

  16. Glad you are feeling that things are improving. At least they could give you an antibiotic. So many are viral and don’t respond to an antibiotic. Hope you are feeling 100% by your next posting.

  17. What do you mean you took down all those wreaths? Get in bed and stay there! I know it’s hard for you, but you really need to get better. Please take care of yourself.

  18. A woman-genius at the Apple store asked me (sort of snidely) why I where so much pink. She said every time I see you you are wearing pink. I said it is hard for people to be mean to you when you are wearing pink. She immediately became nicer.

    Hope you feel 100% soon.

  19. I am so happy to hear you are feeling better slowly. This had to be the worst flu ever – I am so sorry you have had to go through this..
I would not worry one little bit about anything that has to be done around the house. This was a serious illness, and you are going to need some time to get well. Please do not push yourself – the house and the decorations will be there waiting when you are completely well – and that is just fine ! Enjoy them while you rest and take care of yourself !

  20. Carol Wootton says

Please get well soon. Sending healing thoughts and prayers your way

  21. I am so glad you are starting to feel a little better, Susan. There is nothing quite like being so sick your energy is zapped. As you start to get better, please take it easy until you are back to your usual self.

Thank you for hosting and I hope you have a great week.

  22. Jane Kelly says

Sweater must already be gone – couldn’t find it!

  23. Jane Kelly says

    Never-mind – I finally found it!

  24. So happy that you are on the mend.

  25. Susan…Continue to rest and take it easy for as long as needed. I cannot for the life of me understand why a pharmacy closes for lunch middle of the day. So easy to plan staggered breaks during the day so as not to inconvenience the customer…..and so very “un-Walmart”!
Tincture of time and rest will do the trick and have you eventually back to your self. Hardest time is now when the spirit is willing but the flesh not so
much. May the blessing of good health arrive on your doorstep soon!

  26. Get better Susan. You are missed;–)

  27. Hope you feel better soon Susan!!

  28. I rather suspect the gentleman complementing your sweater on the plane was because you were in it.

  29. Thanks for hosting Susan!

  30. Marlene Stephenson says

I’m glad you finally went and bought the antibiotics, rest rest rest. I love pink and thought it would never come back in.

  31. Rita C at Panoply says

Wow, I sure hope you’re well soon, Susan! Not being able to breathe is a game changer!! ER? Steroid shot? Please take care!
Pretty sweater. I just ordered a pink sale top from JJill I am definitely thinking spring!

  32. Dawne Marie says

So happy you’re on the mend! I “third”probiotics. A must when taking antibiotics. Please….rest. Our health is all we have! Fruit and veggies help too.
I agree..no more winter trips. You’re lucky you survived. It really took a toll on your body. I’m sorry. More rest.
    Love the sweater!

  33. Chris Wells says

Our Walmart did the same thing and I sat there and waited and they still did not come back at the time the sign said! Needless to say I moved my prescriptions to another pharmacy. Who closes for lunch in this day and age?
    Hope you keep recovering!

  34. Susan, wow you’ve really been sick for an extended period. So, so sorry to hear you are still in recovery mode and not back to yourself. Hope you are eating? Have anyone local to stop by and check on you, or run to the grocery store? No one likes to cook or prepare meals when they are sick.

  35. Glad you are on the mend!

I got rid of most of my sweaters a couple of years ago. It just doesn’t get that cold here in Waco although it certainly has been lately. I’m not sure I’m brave enough to wear burgundy jeggings, but those are really cute.

  36. I so agree with all the other commenters. I do think the compliment on the sweater had to do with you wearing it! I took all my outdoor decorations down because CA is going to have several straight days of rain. I used your wreath idea with the ribbon but since I don’t have double-hung windows I hang from a hook. I get up on a ladder to put them up but all I need is a broom to get them down off the hook (saying “Thank you Susan for a brilliant idea” and also how great the wreaths look with the extra pop of red ribbon). Glad you continue to be on the mend. Not liking the driving to pharmacy only to find it closed, especially when you don’t feel well. Almost like waiting for help at a store and no one coming to do so. You need to be in your cozy bed or upstairs family room resting!

  37. Yes, our Wal Mart does the same! I don’t use theirs either because of it! Come on – people go in during their lunch hour.
So glad you got some medicine and are doing better! So hard to be sick. What a miracle anti-biotics are!

    • Judy Marlow says

I thought it was just our Walmart did that ( closed for lunch or what ever). I got so mad having to wait. Now thank goodness I don’t have to deal with them for meds.

  38. Well there you are! I’m glad to hear that you’ve been resting–mostly. I start my pink mood around Valentine’s day and it ramps up in March. Btw, from tomorrow it will be only 50 days til meteorlogical spring!!!

  39. So sorry you’re still feeling the effects of the flu. You are right, though. Your body will let you know when you are to to normal activities. I also second (or third) probiotics, yogurt, lots of hot soup and tea. I have been pretty much OK the past two winters, but when I get a cold it always settles into bronchitis. I have also been told antibiotics won’t do anything for it, but it has been the only thing that breaks that awful bronchial cough and exhaustion. Take good care of yourself!

  40. Susan, Susan, Susan, that man was doing his best to flirt with you. LOL I love my Publix pharmacy and the two pharmacist working there. Glad you are on the mend finally, but it’s a long haul. No lecturing on not doing things because I live alone and would probably do the same. Somebody has to do it and no one else is here except the cats and they aren’t volunteering.
    Be well.

  41. Do hope you are soon kicking your heels up and filled withe energy. Love the sweater!

  42. Please, please try the inhaler again! I had a similar bout of bronchitis years ago, like you I resisted the inhaler but out of desperation to breathe I tried again. It was almost a miracle. Exhale as much as you can and then inhale slowly…you’ll soon feel the difference. Did the doctor order a spacer for the inhaler? That may make it easier. The inhaler meds open the bronchial tubes, you’ll wonder why you waited so long. Get well!

    • No, she didn’t order a spacer. I remember my son had one of those when he had asthma growing up. I will try it again, Jinny. Before it was just like hitting a wall.

  43. Thanks so much for the party each week!!
    Hugs,
    Debbie

  44. Hi Susan,
I just want to chime in regarding your trip that was cut short, and I am so sorry you caught the awful flu, and I am happy you are on the mend. I have been praying for you since Thursday when you posted your last party. Hopefully, you can visit Germany another time of the year. And lastly, I love your pink sweater. Prayers are coming your way.

  45. I am so glad you are on the mend! Don’t try to do anything, just rest! Your body needs the rest to heal and rushing it will only set you back. I hope you are good as new soon!

  46. Linda Nixon says

Do you still use your Peloton? Haven’t heard you mention it lately. Dusty rose is popular this year. Is that close to the pink?

    • Yes, I do. My dil still loves her’s too. I’m not a big fan of dusty rose, but it does seem to be making a come back. We called it mauve back in the day, I really don’t like that color. I like the softer, paler pinks. Also love hot pinks.

  47. I agree the sweater admirer was probably more taken with the person the sweater was on. Seriously, rest. I have taken down a few outside wreaths but the weather has been frightful this year. My columns greenery out front requires a ladder and some time. They will have to wait a few days and I will just chill until I get a round tuit. Did they do a strep test on you? There is viral and otherwise to infections. If you start to recede back into the quagmire, make sure you are not resistant to the antibiotic. They may need to do a smear. Keep vigilant. One must be ones own advocate these days in health issues. I had 6 TIAs before a hospitalist put me on a blood pressure med. Because I am a woman, they tried to treat me for anxiety instead of reoccurring BP problems at first. You know what men doctors think of women……that we are somehow weak minded. They prescribed Clonodine and Xanax. Both cause short term rebounding and kept sending me back to the ER with readings of 230/125. They were almost successful in roasting my brain. They tried to increase the Xanax and I rebelled. I went to a cardiologist and he freaked at how the misdiagnosed and treated me. I had to go through withdrawals on the Xanax after three weeks. I had Ask A Nurse to talk me through the night I went off of both Xanax and Clonodine. They were wonderful. Now I question everything that doesn’t sound right. I used to help legally defend doctors and hospitals. Now I monitor them. So be careful and research online when you have questions or doubts. Hugs

  48. Susan, glad to hear you’re on the mend. So sorry to hear your Christmas river cruise was cut short after all the anticipation. I’ve wanted to do that cruise for a long time, but it’s a long flight from Australia to Europe. One day hopefully. Just wondering – how do you get all your wreaths up and down from your windows, particularly from the upper floor?
Best wishes for a speedy recovery from another Susan x

  49. Happy you’re feeling better & have your luggage! Thanks for the heads-up about the sweater sale. I wanted when I first saw it in your post about packing. I just ordered it!

  50. Susan, hope you feel better soon! Take it easy if you can. Thanks for hosting and that sweater is gorgeous! Wishing you a restful week. Toodles, Kathryn @TheDedicatedHouse

  51. donna a zoltanski says

Susan, so glad to hear you are feeling a bit better. Rest up! I am glad you are getting your sleep. I too think that sweater is perfectly pink — and yes I am into PINK right now too – my niece is due with another baby soon and it’s a GIRL! So fun. Miss your posts – Thanks for letting us know you are on the mend!

  52. You’re still not well. Oh goodness, dear one.

I feel the pink. It’s going to be in home dec, clothes, cars soon.

  53. Keep getting better Susan. Happy 2018 New Year. Thank you for hosting today.
    Joy

  54. I’ve been crushing on pink/blush/cream since the Fall……i love it!! I bought a blush wool scarf to wear with my charcoal wool coat, it looks great. Then bought a pink blouse that morphs down to cranberry at the bottom to wear with charcoal leggings and cranberry short boots. Always been one of my favorite colors to wear along with cranberry.

So sorry you are still sick….are you using the inhaler?? Stop doing so much stuff and sleep more!!! Your body needs to mend………..xoxoxo

  55. I’m relieved to hear you are improving, although slowly. I hope you have someone coming in to check on you,to bring soup, make sure you are drinking enough fluids, etc.. It would be too easy for the bronchitis to turn into pnuemonia if you are sleeping and lying down most of the time and don’t feel well enough to keep drinking liquids. If you have anyone to bring you groceries, ask for some Boost or Ensure to keep you nutrition levels up. When my Mother got very run down after having shingles, my sister starting buying Ensure for her and got her to drink one a day. Even though Mother took vitamins the drink must absorb better, because she really started improving. Eventually when Mother was in her nineties and didn’t want to eat much she was still willing to drink one when she first got up before her coffee and another before she went to bed. There are several brands, but I could only think of Boost and Ensure. Basically nutritional supplement drinks.
Love the colors and the sweater. I’ve always loved pink and cream. The man probably wouldn’t have mentioned the sweater if he hadn’t thought you were cute too. Nice compliment!
    Wal-Mart
I stopped using the drugstore in Wal-Mart years ago. There are two pharmacies a half block from Wal-Mart and both are open 24 hours, 7 days a week with drive thru windows. Why would anyone still go to Wal-Mart with those options and similar pricing so close? One thing Wal-Mart does have now is online ordering with parking lot pick up. I haven’t tried it yet, but my niece did. She ordered her groceries online and chose an option to pick up everything in the parking lot. She texted when she was parked in the pick up area and they brought everything out and put it in her car. I’m not sure every store does this yet, but you could call them to find out. You need to stay away from stores until you are fully recovered. If I sound bossy and nagging, sorry. I’m a retired teacher with eight great grandchildren. I just can’t help myself! If I weren’t several hundred miles away, I’d bring you my homemade soup. Take care and stay warm.

  56. So glad that you got the antibiotics and feeling a bit better. Love the sweater and jeggings…and yes, so loving the pink this winter! I have a Talbots gift card burning a hole in my wallet! Feel better Susan!!!! Thanks for hosting!

  57. I am glad to hear you are a LITTLE better and can’t believe you had to go OUT to get your meds feeling so lousy. I wish I lived closer, I would have gone for you. Thanks for the party, I will join in tomorrow.

  58. So glad you got the antibiotics and feeling a little better. Drink lots of fluids and continue to get a lot of rest so your body can heal. Do you take vitamins? I really love Garden of Life My Kind Organics Women’s Multi 40+ Vitamins. They are a whole food vitamin that I purchase from Amazon but can be purchased at Whole Foods etc. I believe they have really made my immune system stronger. I had a physical in October and my blood work was even improved. I will keep you in my prayers for a complete recovery from the flu!

  59. I’m glad to hear you are on the mend and I hope you continue to feel stronger each day! Thank you for hosting the party and sharing your beautiful sweater.

  60. Susan…..so glad to see you have posted. I was worried you might have been admitted to the hospital. Don’t forget to drink Fluids! Rest is what your body needs and yes it helps to Heal!
    Love the sweater. Hugs!

  61. Dear Susan, I’m so glad you are on the road to recovery. At least your impeccable taste hasn’t suffered! Seriously, though, I strongly urge you to follow up with your regular doctor soon. You have been through so much — it’s worth a comprehensive work up by a doctor you trust. We all love your posts, but I think I speak for all of us when I say your health is more important. Rest as much as you can, eat well and get the medical attention you need.

  62. Susan the fact that you actually got dressed ( and in such an adorable outfit) is astounding! Put your jammies back on, and sip a warm cup of tea! I wish I could make you some homemade chicken soup.

I was really getting concerned about you, so good to see a post today and to know that you are slowly improving. My sister came down with bronchitis on Christmas eve and yesterday was her first day of feeling like she was starting to improve. It started out as influenza A and went into bronchitis. Wicked stuff and yes, once she felt like she could breathe a bit, she really slept a lot too. Probably due to the horrible coughing jags that racked her whole body for a half hour at a time. PLEASE continue to rest as that is when our bodies heal. We all love you Susan and miss you but want you better with no set-backs Hugs to you, and yes that is a very pretty sweater and I agree he was flirting, hehe.

  64. I am recovering from the flu and acute bronchitis and I feel your pain. I spent a few hours in ER last week being treated for the bronchitis. In addition to antibiotics, I was prescribed an inhaler. I had trouble with it at first because I haven’t used one in a while. Found a YouTube on using an inhaler that really helped me use it properly. It does help. Feel better soon.

Susan, I am so happy to read that you are on the mend after this horrible ordeal–not being able to breath is scary. I believe that taking a probiotic daily keeps me from catching many of the viruses that so many others seem to get–either that or sheer luck lol! Anyway, most probiotics really don’t do much as they can’t withstand the stomach’s acids or don’t really have the right strains in the first place. I take Symprove. You may want to check it out. Your sweater is very pretty but I think the gentleman may have utilized that fact to do some flirting as the wearer is very pretty as well. Hugs!

  66. Rest Rest and more rest…..Get well soon Susan but be patient.

  67. Susan, rest all that you can!! It’s so important that you rest, do as much complete bed rest as possible.

I contracted bronchitis while husband and I were on our September vacation in Italy last year. It took me almost six weeks to fully recover. I was on antibiotics, a prescription antihistamine, and had to do corticosteroid nebulizer treatments every four hours. My mistake was trying to push through my illness, going back to work too soon, not forcing myself into complete bed rest.

Good luck and God bless!! Remember, your health is more important than ANYTHING. Your busy life and endless errands and chores can wait. Make getting well your number one priority. XO

Dear Susan, Soooo glad to hear you are feeling a little better. Please stay in bed as much as you can and let your body heal. Rest is the best thing for you right now so don’t try to push too hard. I am glad to hear you are going to try your inhaler again. The inhaler and the antibiotics helped me more than anything when I had pneumonia and terrible bronchitis. The inhaler will help you breathe much better and help your lungs heal too. It takes quite awhile to get over what you have been thru, so please don’t push too hard. Everyone is giving you such good advice and all us mother hens are praying for a quick and full recovery for you. Stay in and REST.

  69. Glad to read you’re on the mend. Take care!

  70. The gentleman was right, it is a beautiful sweater and soon it will be mine, Thanks for the link.

Susan: So upsetting that you have been so sick! I am also single and will do anything not to be sick! There’s no one to get your prescriptions for you!
I drink one packet of Emergen-C every day w/1000 mg Vit. C every day and it works for me. And no more gruelling trips in the winter for you! Hope you are soon back to normal. We love your blog!

  72. My pharmacy closes at the very same time. It’s a pain to keep in mind in the middle of the day.

I hope you were able to get the inhaler too.

    Keep sleeping! You need it.
