In The BNOTP Library: Mario Buatta, Fifty Years of American Interior Decoration

I discovered the designer, Mario Buatta, kind of late in life but loved his work as soon as I saw it. I immediately Googled to find a book by him and couldn’t believe there were none! What?!!  I was beyond excited when I read someone finally convinced him to do a book. Of course, when you’re an Interior Designer for 50 years and never write a single book, when you do, it’s a whopper! A 432 page tome!

3 Things I Like About This Book:

  • Huge book with lots of beautiful, traditional decor–a must for the Mario Buatta fan.
  • Mario’s wit comes through in many of the stories interspersed throughout the book.
  • It will probably be the only book ever written showcasing Mario Butta’s work so get it while it’s available. You can take a peek inside of it in the post I wrote when I first got my copy HERE.

  1. This is truly a beautiful book. It is most enjoyable. I purchased it last fall when he spoke at the San Francisco Fall Antiques Show. He was very funny and amusing. I was lucky enough to meet him briefly and he is a charming man.

  2. May I inquire where you got your tea pot, it’s very whimsical which I just love. Thanks

Love this book! Preordered it and so happy to have it be part of my library. I am huge fan of Mario Buatta. The Prince of Chintz was always shown in the decorating magazines. Always pages to dream about. No one had that much fabric! Great book .

  4. Too bad Mr. Buatta continues to let the William H. Mason house deteriorate. He purchased the house in 1992 and has done very little with it since. It is dying from neglect. He should bring it back to its former glory or sell it to someone who will.
