Master Bedroom and Bath in Historic 1833 Home

Welcome to the 219th Metamorphosis Monday!

A while back I shared a wonderful Mardi Gras table setting in the dining room of Sandi’s beautiful historic home.  You’ll find that tablescape here: Mardi Gras Table Setting and Decoration.)

Sandi’s home was built in 1833 and she’s been restoring it since 1991.  For this Met Monday, I’m sharing some of the ways she transformed her historic Home.

Historic Home

Imagine having an entry space this large!

Entry of Historic Home

Sandi has a beautiful antique Victorian bed in her master bedroom.  Notice the wood beadboard ceilings!  When Sandi bought her home, the ceilings in this bedroom were the only ceilings in her home that had not already been painted white.

Master Bedroom in Historic Home

Wouldn’t it be nice if homes today had fireplaces in all the bedrooms.  The small Victorian chair in the pic below belonged to Sandi’s grandmother and she created the needlepoint seat.  What a lovely treasure to pass down through the family.  The hurricane globes were Sandi’s Mother’s and she found them in antique store with Sandi was just a child.  The peacock picture over the mantel was a birthday gift for friend…Sandi loves peacocks and has thought about adding some to her farm.

Master Bedroom in Historic Home

Sandi has a sitting area tucked into a corner near the fireplace.

The vessel sink in Sandi’s master bath is perfect for this space.

Master Bath

Lots of storage for linens and other necessities.

Master Bath Pedestal Sink

It would be wonderful to soak in the claw-foot tub gazing up at this beautiful chandelier.

Master Bath Chandelier

I’ll be sharing other rooms in this historic beauty real soon.

Looking forward to the Before and Afters linked for this Met Monday!

Metamorphosis Monday:

One on sidebar

If you are participating in Metamorphosis Monday you will need to link up the “permalink” to your MM post and not your general blog address. To get your permalink, click on your post name, then just copy and paste the address that shows up in the address bar at the top of your blog, into the “url” box for InLinkz.

In order to link up, you’ll need to include a link in your MM post back to the party so the other participants will have an opportunity to receive visits from your wonderful blog readers.

Please observe these few rules:

Only link up Before and After posts that are home, gardening, crafting, painting, sewing, cooking, DIY related.

Do not link up if you’re doing so to promote a website or product.

Do not link up a post that was just linked last week since a lot of readers will have already seen that post.

Do not type in ALL CAPS.  It spreads the links waaaay out.

Let’s try something fun today! Please visit the person who linked before you and after you…that way everyone will get some visits.

Welcome! Thanks for coming to the party!

Never miss a Between Naps on the Porch post!

I grew up in a house with a footed tub and I have always loved them. I love the bathroom. I especially like the poster bed in the bedroom and the fireplace. How wonderful to lie in bed, snuggled under blankets or quilts, while a fire burned in the fireplace. That just sounds too lush!!! I hope you and your family had a wonderful Easter. Give Mr. Max a kiss from me. I hope he is feeling better.

  25. This house is so lovely. They do not make hallways like that this anymore. Hope you had a great Easter.

We put a plank ceiling like that in our sunroom and sealed it the natural color – no paint on it for us! This is such a beautiful home and I would love to have an entry that wide. Thank you for bringing it to us Susan.

Thinking of you and praying for you and Max. After I read your post I looked in our backyard at our 6 tiny graves with headstones and remembered the furry babies we have had over the years. I hope you have Max for many more.
