  1. This tablescape is going to get very crowded with all your wellwishers crowding around to wish you a speedy recovery! Praying everyone who is attending you is filled with wisdom and warm hands!

  2. Oh Susan, we miss you too! I’m so sorry you’re in the hospital — I wish there was something we could do! That tablescape is not nearly as pretty as the ones you do at home. 🙂

We’ll say a prayer for you, and I hope you’ll get to go home very soon.

    XO,

    Denise

  3. Miss you too, Susan. I have you in my prayers. I hope you are getting better. Sending you a big hug. laurie

  4. What a sad little “tablescape” 🙂 but don’t worry about needing to post anything right now. I’m sure I speak for all of us when I say you need to rest and just take care of yourself. We will be waiting for you to get better and thankful when you do! I’m sure worrying about little Max has caused you so much stress and wonder if it has contributed to whatever is going on medically with you? Reading through ALL the comments from your previous post, you have HUNDREDS of people praying for you and Max right now – please take comfort in that and try to rest. 🙂 Continuing to pray for you both also! 🙂

  5. Oh, Susan…..please just take care! And tell that cafeteria service to step it up in the trayscape department! 🙂

  6. So sorry you are in the hospital! And that food looks pretty nasty! ;( Miss your posts but hopefully you will be better soon! Take a little time out for yourself & have a speedy recovery.

  7. Oh, Susan! I’ve been out of pocket a few days with my mother and just read you’re in the hospital! I’m so sorry and hope your problem will be diagnosed really soon with a simple solution. Saying prayers for you, sweet friend.
    Blessings,
    Shelia 😉

  8. Susan, prayers for a speedy recovery. How frightening for you. Hope it turns out to be something minor and you will be home soon!

  9. Oh dear, dear Susan,

I am so sorry you are in the hospital! I am praying for your good health, as well as sweet Max, too.
I hope all goes well, they find what’s wrong and fix it quickly with good understanding.
    Miss you, too.

    Hugs,
    Michele

  10. GET WELL SOON!!!!!

  11. Miss you to Sue! I hope you are getting better.
Your food looks delicious! (liar) 🙂
    Hugs, Liz

  12. Missing you and praying you will be home (and well) very soon! Hospitals are no fun!

  13. No need to reply sweetie. Though that clear liquid tray doesn’t look too appetizing I bet it tastes mighty good if you have been without food. Keeping you in my prayers for feeling better soon.

  14. Susan,
Take care of yourself, dear friend!!!
I do, however, think a “Trayscape” would be a fitting “Tablescape” once your home!!! Ha!
Prayers still coming your way for renewed health!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  15. Wishing you a happier tablescape next week! Thinking about you!

  16. Love the tablescape but sending wishes of home soon. Blessings to you.

  17. Oh Susan,
I’m so happy to see you are in good humor! I so hope you are feeling better! Are you?
And you are such a doll! Of course, I have been thinking of you all day, especially today, being a Tablescape Thursday, and you even post a “Tablescape” from the hospital!
Oh dear! What can I say? Should I say I “love” it, as I usually love all your tablescapes? Oh my, I can’t lie!
Actually I “hate” it, because it means you are hospitalized… but… I think I love it (a little bit), too, because it helps you feeling better! So, you see, I’m posting my comment with mixed feelings! 🙁
Susan, I hope you had a good night and the doctors have good news for you (and us)!
(Have you felt the presence of any ARCHANGEL at the side of your Guardian Angel, both watching over you? I know, Jesus loves you! 🙂 )
I will continue praying for you and sweet Max. ♥
    ~Hugs and love to you~
    Cecilia

  18. Looks like the infamous liquid diet. 🙁 Thought about you earlier – wondering if you were out of hospital yet. Will continue to keep you and Max in my prayers. (((hugs)))

  19. We miss you too!!! Please let us know your progress…….hospital food, oh well, easy on the tummy anyway……..praying for quick recovery!!!

  20. Oh goodness Susan… I haven’t been feeling well the last few days and just read quick from yesterday and thought you were in the pet hospital with Max… didn’t realize it until today that it was YOU. Big prayers to the Big Man and know you have the support of hundreds of e-friends who you have never met.

What a sad little table/trayscape you have today. Hopefully your friend Marie can be there for you and add some bling to it to help you feel better.

Obviously being sick and depending on what is going on is very personal, but keep us posted when you can with how you are doing because we are all thinking of you.

    Big hugs, Holly

  21. Hope your baby is improving today, dear Susan. We miss you too, sweetheart! Hospital food always looks like your tray, somehow, lol.. Big hugs,
    FABBY

Be well. Praying for a speedy and steady recovery, Susan.

Well you are sort of eating, that’s a good start.

Hurry up and get better! 🙂

    Paul

  32. Susan, please feel better. I see you are on liquids only 🙁 hope they get you well and out of there! xo

  33. You have kept your wonderful sense of humor Susan. I sorry you are in the hospital but you made me laugh. This actually looks more like one of my tablescapes with paper plates etc. then one of your beautiful china table settings. I hope you are feeling better and are on the mend.

  34. Miss you so much when sharing my one & only cup of coffee with you every morning. Literally thousand are praying
for your quick recovery. Me too! Anne

  35. The clear liquid tablescape is not too attractive. I recognize it from my mother’s hospitalizations. My daffodils still look pretty- I wish I could get a few of them over to you to pretty things up a bit.

  36. Hope you feel better soon! (as for your tray…at least you got a cloth napkin!) 🙂

  37. I have been out of the loop this week
and just saw your tablescape. Your blog gives me so much joy. Sending prayers and get well wishes for you and Max.

  42. Haha! Leave it to you to post from the hospital! 🙂 Aww, I hope you’re feeling better. It’s actually a relief that you posted! I like your black/grey/white table scape theme with the splash of red for color. 😉 Keep us posted because we are all concerned. And get better quick so you can get back to the porch.

  43. I love it. It’s a first and hasn’t been done before. Feel better and keep us posted. I’ll be checking in on you.

  44. The fact that you posted this tablescape shows your humor. Please get well. It is just not the same without you.

  45. Oh Susan! I hope you’re ok! Heal fast and go home to get some rest! Prayers for you!

  46. Hi Sweetie! I am so sorry to hear that you are in the hospital. That’s no fun at all! Just want to let you know that I am thinking of you and I hope that your tummy ache is not serious and you will be back home in your own cozy house taking a nap on the porch soon. I will keep you in my prayers.

    Big, Big Hugs,
    Susan and Bentley

  47. tess halliday says

  60. Elaine in Laguna says

Ugh. A tray-scape. Wouldn’t you think they’d have a china cup and coordinating flowers for a VIP – Very Inportant Patient! At the very least. Sending continued good thoughts and prayers for you.

  61. Please get well soon! You are truly missed !

  62. Susan, I am new to blogs and have been following yours faithfully. My wish is that you and Max get well soon.

  63. Mary from Virginia says

Aww, you poor girl! I know that must not be a fun meal. Even in sickness you remain clever by posting your tablesetting!

I hope you get better quickly and I have you in my prayers.

    Wish I lived closer!

  64. I am keeping both you and Max in my thoughts and prayers and hoping you are home soon to set a spring table. The hospital needs to require the food service dept. to read all about tablescapes.

  65. Susan, how I wish I could send a pretty placemat and napkin to you to brighten your hospital stay. I hope your stay is short and you are feeling better soon.

Love and prayers from Washinton State

  66. Feel better soon. I wish you well, very, very soon.

  67. Hi lovely lady.
So sorry you are in the hospital! And that food looks pretty nasty! ;( Miss your posts but hopefully you will be better soon! Take a little time out for yourself & have a speedy recovery.
    XXOO Diane

  68. Oh Susan. I am so sorry that you in the hospital. Please do take care of yourself. We need you back but only after you are well rested and up to it. You may have to take over the food service at the hospital. he food looks pretty nasty and the presentation is even worse. God bless..

  69. Susan,
Keeping you in prayer and wishing you a speedy recovery.

  70. Susan, sad to think that you of all patients have to face such a “tablescape”. Don’t they know who you are? ‘-)
If I lived in Atlanta, I’d be there setting you a proper tablescape for those meals such as they are. Thinking of you and wish you well. I pray that the doctors have you better in no time and back on that porch taking some long, comfy naps.

  71. Hello, Susan! I am so sorry to know you are unwell. Please know you are in my thoughts and I wish you a speedy and comfortable recovery.

There are only so many ways to “arrange” that clear liquids tray from Piedmont Dining! 🙂 My mother has been a “guest” there far to often of late and I’m well acquainted with the decided lack of dining accoutrement. Surely a pretty place setting would make the diet more appealing?! Keep your chin up!

    Warm regards,
    Laurel in Stockbridge

P.S. I’m local and I’m sure many other of your readers are as well. If there is anything you need/want, please do not hesitate to ask and it will be delivered to you!

  72. Miss you! Praying! Gid bless!

  73. Hope you are feeling better soon.

On a side note: I have been teaching myself how to watermark photos.
Your DIY and archives are getting a work out.

  74. Egad! Hope they’re quick to discover your ailment, Susan. Great tablescape. At least you still have your sense of humor! Prayers and well wishes being sent your way.

  75. So sorry you are in the hospital! Love your sense of humor with your “tablescape!” Take care of yourself and get well soon!

    Katherine

  78. Oh my…not the way to start out a beautiful time of the year! So sorry you are in the hospital. Sending healing prayers your way. God bless you Susan. Vikki in VA.

  79. Sandi Reagan says

You and Max will remain in my prayers!!! Your going to get way too skinny on that food!

  80. Get well soon… Blessings…

  81. Linda Page says

OK, Susan……just because I just spent 3 days in the hospital does not mean that you should imitate me no matter how much you love and admire me!!!!!! I am so sad that you are still in the hospital but I hope and pray that you are recovering and your medical team is taking very, very good care of you. I am still working on that River Road plantation tour we have planned in our future! Your tablescape photo looks like a picture of my hospital tablescape!!! Bless your heart. We all miss you so much! You are surrounded by tons of well wishes and prayers.

  82. Nancy Carr says

Obviously the food service does not know they are serving the Queen of Tablescapes. Get well soon.

  83. I went to your blog this morning not really expecting a post for Tablescape Thursday, but more for new on how you where doing. I had to laugh seeing the tray, at least your sense of humor is doing well. I will continue to send prayers for both you and your doctors for a speedy recovery. Please take care.

  84. So relieved to hear from you! I have been thinking about you and Max alot. If prayer has power, then you are well taken care of!

  85. Miss you too! Hope you can come home soon!

  86. I can only imagine how frustrated you are, you have too much energy to be in a hospital bed! And those hospital trays, a tablescapes nightmare, add insult to injury! Get better soon, we are all thinking about you and missing you!
    Jenna

  87. JoyceB in Atlanta says

Too funny! Please break out soon. The air is fresh and cool today, and for the moment, is pollen free. Hurry up and get well so you can enjoy spring the way it is supposed to be. Be strong.

  88. Hi Susan, still praying for you and Max. I pray you are out of the hospital real soon and that you will be able to love Max and him love you for years to come. God bless.

  89. That tablescape pretty much looks like my tables everyday. Hurry up and get better Susan! This sucks the big one.

  90. Susan~
Keeping you in thoughts and prayers.
    Hugs,
    Paula
    In.

  91. Get well soon!

  92. My prayers and thoughts are with for a speedy recovery. You will have to go back and show them how to set a pretty tray to help people feel better. Get better.

    Cynthia

  93. Oh Susan. I hope you will be better VERY fast.

  94. I hope all of these well wishes put a smile on your face & some healing for your body. Hoping to hear you are back home, feeling better soon.

  95. Sharon in Virginia says

I miss you. I’ve been praying for you and your cat. Please get well soon.

  96. Susan, sending loads of hugs and well wishes your way. fondly ~lynne~

  97. LINDA CASE says

I love reading your blog and enjoy all the tablescapes. Hope you & Max get better very quickly.

  98. Susan – such a great sense of humor. Its the ugliest tablescape ever posted but probably an expensive one!
You could add, “plastic spoon- purchased in bulk=2cents, plastic bowl – 5 cents, tea bag – 10 cents…etc…
    cost to my insurance= $200!
If they gave you the breath monitor – that’s another $75
You have a host of excellent staff at Piedmont and the best equipment! Nearby restaurants for visitors are wonderful too. Take care, rest and relax. T

  99. If I might suggest…flowers would look great with that bouillon! Feel better fast! 😉

  100. SheilaG @ Plum Doodles says

So sorry to see you’re still in the hospital. Praying your drs find out and fix whatever is wrong very soon. Should I bring you some china to eat your jello on? 😉

  101. Susan, you need to get better very soon. This hospital is in desperate need of your expertise. Are they serious! No wonder people are so depressed in hospital. Good news, bad news…you’ve got a job for life…rotten way to get hired.
My prayers are with you. Hugs, Nancy

  102. Only YOU would think of taking a photo of your ‘Trayscape’!! LOL At least, I now know you’re not NPO & that is a good sign. Yuck on the clear liquids, though. Tell them Vodka is considered a “clear liquid” too!
As a nurse, I’m dying to know what is going on. I’m thinking a ruptured diverticulum maybe. Or perhaps a kidney stone, moving. Whatever, it better go away QUICK!!

I agree with Pat from Crooked Creek…when you get home & are feeling better, you should challenge everyone to do a “TRAYscape” to celebrate your recovery.
Prayers continue that you’ll be home soon & feeling better.
    Hugs,
    Rett

  103. Dear Susan ~ Hope you be able to go home very soon! In the meantime I do hope you are getting the medical attention that you need to feel much better. Enjoyed your impromptu Tablescape Thursday! Keep up your wonderful sense of humor! =) Take care and know that you are greatly missed. Hugs to you and Max ~ jade

  104. Hi Susan,
It is a known fact that a sense of humor greatly aids recovery, that and all our prayers and best wishes
will have you home soon. On another note maybe there is something we all can do to put all our Tablescape
Creatively to work… Someone mentioned how just a colorful placemat would cheer “hospital guests”, that’s something
almost any active Hospital Auxiliary could manage. I bet many of us know someone we could mention this too… Think of all the SMILES we could generate:):):)
    All my best,
    SheilaC

  105. Hope you are feeling better soon. I selfishly want my favorite blogger healthy and posting her wonderful pictures and words very soon.

  106. Susan,
Showing us your tablescape makes me smile. ONLY because you always have such a beautiful tablescape and today not so beautiful! Take care. You have so many out here who are thinking and hoping for a speedy recovery.

  107. They could at least give you a colorful placemat! So sorry you are sick and in the hospital. Hope you get well soon. I miss your wonderful posts.

  108. Oh my at least you haven’t lost your sense of humor! I’m local so let me know if you need food from the outside.

  109. Oh, how I hope you will be relieved of your pain very soon and hope that it’s an easy fix! Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. By the way, I couldn’t help but look at the black and white dishes on the tray and just imagine how you could use them for one of your “real” tablescapes!

  110. grammygoodwill says

Rarely comment, but I’m checking in to see how you’re doing. I hope you’re back on your “porch” soon.

  111. Sharon from Michigan says

Oh you poor girl! My thoughts and prayers are with you. Hopefully the doctors can identify and clear up any problems for you. Bad things shouldn’t happen to good people, but they do and we need to make it through them – it makes us stronger. Behave and watch lots of HGTV while you’re resting!

  112. Dear Lord Susan! Did this happen all of a sudden??
You probably do too much, and your worried about Max!
Try and think calming, healing thoughts – and keep us (all your blog followers) informed! And let us all here on your blog know if we can be helpful! You bring so much culture and fabulous ideas to us, I know we have all come to care about you.
Sending warm comforting thoughts and wishes for a quick diagnosis (and positive) your way.
    Maggie

  113. Pat Stansel says

Susan, I’m new to your blog site, but I’m a big admirer of your style & grace!, wishing you a speedy
    Recovery.

  114. Laura Clements says

    Get Well Soon!

  115. Rosie Moreno says

Just a note to send continued best wishes and admiration for your sense of humor under such extraordinary circumstances! Get well soon, and ” have no fear, we’ll still be here” when you are up to blogging again!

  116. Get Well Soon! Spring is no time to be in a hospital…too many lovely gardens to visit.

  117. Susan,

I’m happy to see you have a sense of humor in such a depressing place as the hospital! Get well soon!

  118. Very concerned for you and your health sweet Susan. I do hope they have found the cause and are helping you to get well again. I hope you are able to rest as much as is possible while in hospital. Love the fact that you sent us your weekly tablescape, nice to see you have a sense of humour about it all. Big hugs and lots of healing prayers being sent your way. Wishing you only the best, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

  119. Susan, I have no idea how I missed this. I must have checked my reader a hundred times, but for some reason several things were posted that I missed. This was one of them. So I’m late.

I hope and pray you get out of there soon. I have been so concerned about you. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

    Get well soon!

    xoxoxox,

    Sheila

  120. Want to add to all the best wish going out to you. Praying for you that this is just a short stay for you in hospital and they find soon your problem and you aren’t in any pain. I do not do pain well and I don’t like thinking a sweet thing like you should be having any either.
But I think your post of very fitting for today.
You are always thinking of us and want you to know we are thinking of you.
I know you must get many emails to get through. I wrote you last night and was looking for you today. Hope to read good news from you soon.
I pray for your Doctors and with Gods speed for your soon to be recovered.
    Hugs, Brenda– momof9

  121. Hi, Susan…..LOVELY tablescape today (NOT!!!!!). Isn’t hospital food the pits?! I swear they make you so hungry you’d eat anything by the time you’re ready to get out of there! Hope they are finding out what’s going on with you and treating it & getting you back home where the tablescapes are not quite so Spartan!! I think the RoyalCup tea bag really added SO much to your tray and that swirled plastic tea cup with (not) matching lid – oh, my!
We are all praying for you and we are rooting for you to get well & get back home where you belong. Don’t worry about the blog – it will be here along with all of us – when you feel well enough to continue! Just concentrate on getting better! We miss you a lot! <3

  122. Claudia A. says

I’ve had those liquid meals before, yuck! Prayers sent. Could I send you some supplies to add your touch to the table??? A few Spring flowers, some nice bunnies and some cloth napkins???

  123. Margo Kuhn says

Susan, you are an amazing person. I can’t believe you are posting a tablescape, even if it’s your hospital tray. You are a trooper, but believe me, we will wait for you. We all love your blog, so don’t worry, we won’t leave you. I just want you to get well. Rest and heal. Big hugs too.

  124. Susan,
Thinking of you and wishing you a speedy return to good health.

  125. Susan Jones says

    Susan,

Oh, my! They obviously have no idea who they are serving!! They could at least add a vase with a single flower, like a carnation or rose, on the tray. I am out in Athens, but if I were closer I would run down and put a “celebrity” banner
across your hospital door! Thankful that you even have the energy to post a tablescape this week. You and Max please
feel better soon. Hopefully next week you will be posting about how glad you are to be back home and on the mend!

  126. Sandi Lee says

Sending lots of good thoughts your way and Max’s too. Rest and take care of yourself. You have lots of prayer warriors sending prayers your way.

  127. I can’t believe you actually have a tablescape to post! You’re amazing. I hope you’ll feel better soon and until then, I’ll keep you in my thoughts.

  128. Sharon McMurray says

Sending prayers, hope you’re out of there soon!

  129. Susan – wishing you a speedy recovery so you can go home and relax on your beautiful porch gazing at the bird feeders. We miss you.

  130. Sorry to hear you are still in the hospital and on clear liquids too? Oh no! Wishing you a speedy recovery and that you can get home to your porch very soon. Continued prayers to Mister Max also. Take care!

  131. We miss you out here in blogland, Susan, but we’ll all be here when you return. Prayers for your speedy recovery!

  132. Please rest. That and sleep are the very best to heal. Could you possibly post the hospital’s food service phone number? Your friends/fans need to call in ernest protest on your behalf and explain that a table scape like that could possibly CAUSE medical problem (certainly emotional ones!). Sending prayers and LOADS of good thoughts for your healing and strength.

  133. Hi Susan, hope you are feeling better–sending warm wishes and prayers your way. Can I send you a pizza? Love and hugs from Trish.

  134. Well, at least you have a nice napkin fold! Wishing you a speedy recovery!

  135. You are amazing posting from your hospital bed 🙁 so sorry to hear you are there. With all your tablescape experience you should help them realize how important it is to make everyone’s meal time in the hospital a little nicer..ideas could be spray paint the ugly trays a pretty color, use colorful paper napkins, just something to make the time people spend in there a little more comfortable. I know when my poor brother was in the hospital for so long….it would’ve have been so much nicer to have a little color, a little something to brighten his meal time. Please take care and know you are being thought about. Hugs Karin

  136. It’s not the same online without you! missing your posts and praying for you and Max.You have so many people who love you and support you.I am believing that you will be restored better than before this began and can go home happy and heathly.Love and kisses.

  137. Susan, I am so sorry that you are in the hospital. I pray they will find out what’s wrong and take care of it so you can get out of there.
Their tablescapes are terrible, who would want anything on that tray.
You and Max are in my prayers.
    Hugs
    Mary

  138. Best wishes for feeling much better soon!

  139. Oh dear one so sorry. Can’t say anything that hasn’t already been said except the power of prayer is miraculous. Praying for speedy and easy recovery. Try to take advantage of the downtime by letting others take care of you, even if it is hospital food on hospital dishes. Best!

  140. Get well quickly! The least they could do is give you a pretty napkin!

  141. Cathie Kukec says

    Susan,

  142. Oh Susan, I had that very same tablescape last fall! It sure doesn’t take long to ‘eat’ does it!! I guess a liquid diet is universal no matter the hospital. Please take care. Praying you feel better soon and are back to all the things you love. I’ve thought of Max. Hope he is also continuing to improve. You are loved by many!! Pam

  143. Sending prayers and well wished.

  144. Take care and prayers!

    Susan-
The classic “Piedmont style” tablescape tells us you’re on the road to recovery and that is VERY good news indeed! I’m so sorry you had to go through what you did, and how scary to do it alone. Glad to hear you’ve turned the corner and are feeling much better. Sunny days are ahead! Sending hugs and well wishes from up North 🙂

  146. Praying for you. Getting better quickly and home soon. God bless

  147. Dear Susan,
I am shocked when I opened your posts. I was away for awhile and don’t really had time to blog stroll and knowing on what happened really scares me.
Hope everything is OK and knowing your sense of humor rules, I keep my prayers for your full recovery.

Go Susan, you can beat the illness. You are one strong woman and full of good spirit.

God Bless You and we will offer our prayers to you this Sunday mass. Get well soon and when you come home, we all have a big ball.

    Hugs from D´Box,
