My 4 Favorite Christmas-Winter China Designs & What I’m Adding To My Collection From The Sale

Welcome to the 740th Tablescape Thursday! If you’ve ever wanted to purchase a beautiful, classic, never-going-out-of-style Christmas china, this is definitely the time! The sales are excellent right now for all my absolute favorite Christmas and Winter designs!

Are you a fan of Lenox Holiday? It doesn’t get much more classic than this gorgeous pattern. I chose it for this whimsical Christmas table setting below. (See more of this table here: Christmas Table Setting with Lenox Holiday and Dept. 56.)

I had always admired this beautiful, classic pattern featuring a holly and berry wreath design with elegant gold edging, so was absolutely thrilled when I was able to purchase 6 place settings for my Christmas table!

Currently, it’s on sale, reduced from $280 down to $83.99 for a 5-pc place setting! I’m super tempted to add another 6 place settings to my current collection. I love this beautiful pattern and it’s a true classic that will always set an elegant table for Christmas. You’ll find it on sale here: Lenox Holiday.

Lenox Holiday, Beautiful

It’s also available in a 12-piece set with mugs that’s on sale from $558 down to just $173.99 for the 12-pc set. You’ll find it on sale here: Lenox Holiday, 12 Piece Set.

Another one of my favorites that works for Christmas– or really all winter long is Lenox Winter Greetings. (See this table in full here: Winter Setting with Winter Greetings.)

Winter Tablescape, Lenox Winter Greetings

I first came across this beautiful china on a Christmas Home Tour many years ago and was immediately smitten! I could not wait to get back home and find where it was available. It’s just the most wonderful design with beautiful birds. Love the darling chickadee playing with the end of the ribbon! ♥

Lenox Winter Greetings for Winter or Holiday Dining

The dinner plate includes a third little bird–a nuthatch.

Though great for Christmas dining, it’s really perfect to use all winter long.

It’s currently on sale, reduced from $280 for a 5-Piece Place Setting, down to just $97.99. That is such a great price for this gorgeous china! I have 12 place settings and I think I’m going to add the soup bowls to my collection while it’s on sale. You’ll find it on sale here: Winter Greetings Dinnerware.

Lenox Winter Greetings

I have just a few pieces of Spode’s charming Christmas Tree pattern. They’ve made a few variations of it over the years.

It’s currently on sale, too! This 12-piece set is just $69.99–that’s only around $140 for 8 place settings! You’ll find it on sale here: Spode Christmas Tree.

Spode Christmas Tree Dinnerware

Though I normally use Spode Woodland for Thanksgiving, I think it would be beautiful for Christmas, too. I only have 6 place settings and would love to add another 6 to my current collection.

Right now, it’s on sale from $234, down to $97.99 for a 5-pc place setting. You’ll find the sale here: Spode Woodland.

  1. Oh my goodness!! Oh my goodness …

  2. These are all stunning pieces, everyone will be drooling over them. One can’t go wrong with anything settings from Lenox, they are so classically stunning. Love all the other ones too. But then, who doesn’t love a beautiful table setting?!! Hugs, Brenda

  3. I too love the holly and berry dishes by Lenox. But when I bought my first dinnerware for Christmas, I went with Spode Christmas tree. I bought a few years ago Wexford plaid dinnerware from 222 Fifth and enjoy it very much too. For fall I have Williams Sonoma Botanical Pumpkin. I con’t have the room to store too many sets. But I am oh so tempted when I see something I really like.

Beautiful – Beautiful. The place settings are stunning. I also really love your centerpiece of the houses – so precious. It’s Beginning To Look a Lot like Christmas!!!!

    • Thanks, Jackie! I need to come up with a better system for storing those so I can access them easier, yet still keep them from collecting dust. It takes so long to retrieve them from their boxes.

Ooooo. Temptation! When I was a young bride, I wanted Holiday. But, it was not in the cards. We bought a house, had a little boy, and adopted a dog! Many years later, I was shopping a Lenox outlet store and found 6 of the 8 different “Winter Greetings” accent plates. These are the plates that depict 8 different birds. Well, even my husband liked those, and we impulsively purchased them and the only 4 matching mugs that they had. Again, years pass, and I finally got the remaining 2 bird accent plates from Replacements. I use them atop some old vintage (1947) Lenox ‘Wheat’ plates that have a dark green gallery. (a combined effort from Ebay and Replacements!) The famous Lenox Wheat, coupe-shape, is my actual first china pattern. During a visit while on our honeymoon, my Mother-in-law gave us 8 dinner plates,6 salad plates and 7 bread/butter plates. All the rest had been broken and she no longer liked this pattern. I loved it! It is versatile and stunning. I have added, *ahem*, many pieces to that over the years. Ebay is the devil that helped me! Now, those special mugs that match my accent plates are atrociously expensive. I am priced out of that. We just use the other Lenox teacups with it, all looks fine. But, I find myself thinking about the regular “Winter Greetings” since I have seen others use it all winter! January and February are so dark here, perhaps I should declare that every day is “Good China Day!” Let’s see…where could I store that…?

  7. Just so beautiful ! Love all the patterns. I kept my Pfaltzgraff Christmas Heirloom when we downsized. They have discontinued the pattern ( my husband says if they knew I was collecting it they would never have done that!) but luckily I have enough place settings for a crowd, plus many accessories and extra dinner plates to put in my china closet. I love the Lenox pattern and think maybe I should pass the Pfaltzgraff on to my nieces and start again ….

  8. Hard choices for sure! Think my favorite has to be the Winter’s Greetings because of the beautiful birds. Also love the Villeroy and Boch Toy’s Delight, since the red and green are a little different from the usual. And the pfaltzgraff Winterberry is my seasonal casual go to, since it works season long into February. Love to mix and match with different chargers, salad plates, etc to keep from being too predictable (and to let me own more, of course, haha.)

  9. Christy Lou says

I have the Holiday china. My aunt gave me my grandma’s and I love adding to it. Even my kids know that it is Christmas when it comes out! But I don’t think that this is bone china anymore. Lenox shut down their china factory in the last couple of years. The Lenox website calls it “porcelain” now and only Macy’s still lists it as “bone china.” I would love to be wrong about this because I love the feel and look of the china. Do you happen to know?
