No Matter Where It Finds You

On Monday evening I drove into Atlanta to visit a store inside Phipps Plaza.

I purposely drove in late to avoid the end-of-day, going home traffic. I finished my shopping just before the store closed at 8:00 PM.

As I was leaving, something caught my eye.

We get a finite number of sunsets in our lifetime. So much beauty and it’s completely free. Stop and savor every single one, no matter where it finds you.

  1. I always enjoy sunsets!

  2. The beauty of a sunset can be found even in a parking lot. Thank you for the beautiful pictures and your wonderful blog!!

  3. Boy isn’t that the truth. I’m watching the sun rise 🙂
    Have a beautiful day Susan!

  4. thanks for giving me a smile this morning. I’m expecting a busy day at work, and this reminder of things to appreciate is wonderful. 🙂

  5. I love a sun set too, but the practical side of me is thinking someone should scream to the roof top lady “get off the highway before you get hurt!”

I hope your shopping trip was a fun one!

    • Mary, don’t worry, her car was parked in Phipps Plaza parking lot.

Whew, ok, now that I look at the lines I see it is a parking lot. When I looked at the picture it reminded me of the ramp coming out of the tunnel in Norfolk, VA so it freaked me out. 🙂

  6. How neat is that?? I went to Nursing School in Atlanta in the mid 70s and I do miss Atlanta sometimes. Not the traffic mind you. Our son and his wife just moved to Canton for her job in Alpharetta so I will be getting to visit there more. Of course when I was a student and went out Phipps Plaza it was on the Marta.:)

  7. Sunsets are my favorite time of day, hands down. One of the highlights of our trip this year to the west coast of Florida.

    Have a great weekend!

Here I sit, looking out my window, not at a sunrise. . . .but SNOW on April 24th! Even though it is cold outside I still can also look out at 2 of my beautiful bright yellow Forsythia bushes & all my pretty daffodils 🙂
Beauty is wherever I find it.

I experienced a great sunset Monday also, from the pier of St. Simons Island. It was beautiful. Nobody does it like the Master artist! And while we were watching the sunset, a huge ship came by also. The two things together made for an awesome site!

We really are blessed to get some beautiful sunrises and sunsets in Georgia! We’re on a hill with our house facing west which gives us a great unobstructive view and we’ve seen some beauties. We moved from Florida in 2000, and I’m still struck by the beauty of the sunset through the bare branches in winter.

  11. “We get a finite number of sunsets in our lifetime. So much beauty and it’s completely free. Stop and savor every single one, no matter where it finds you.” So true, so true, Susan and so poetically put.

  12. My husband and I have always enjoyed sunsets together. If he is coming home from work late and there is a beautiful sunset, he will call me to make sure I don’t miss it. I love that. I have always felt sunsets were God’s way of telling me good job today, now sleep well and know I am watching. It comforts me.

  13. Ain’t it da trut!! Sunsets…one of the primary reasons we situated the cabin where it is…breathtaking for…free. EnJOY!! franki

So true. So much beauty all around us. It’s sometimes hard to keep out all the ugliness others (particularly the media — grrr) want to foist on us. But this is a very beautiful world, very beautiful universe God made for us. It’s good when we delight in it.

Speaking of delighting in something beautiful, Susan, no sooner did I hang up my Spring/Summer wreaths on the front doors than an enterprising little mother to be built her little house. I’ve been watching 5 eggs in a tiny nest and it is positioned in such a way that I can adjust the plantation shutters from the inside of the doors to peek directly into the nest. So seeing them crack and hatch, and watching those tiny jelly beans of babies grow into fuzzy little birds will be so easy and wonderful. Hee … I love this. Last year I got two mamas building their nests on my little side porch in a decorative cone shaped basket that had fake greenery. This year it’s in a wreath on my little front porch! Nature is wonderful. 😀 Sunsets, baby birds … all of it.

  16. Since I still take my hubby to the bus station although I lost my job in November 2014, I still catch the gorgeous sunrises and also the sunsets! I never take the beauty God has surrounded us with for granted. I try to capture at least one photo each day! There is no other artist as magnificent as the Lord Himself! Thank you for your beautiful shares and enjoy a great weekend.

  17. Gorgeous.

  18. You are so right!

  19. Thanks for reminding me. Sometimes I just get so busy doing things that I forget just to take a moment. Sunsets are too precious to be ignored.

    Big Texas Hugs,
    Susan and Bentley

  20. We take so much in our lives for granted. Sunsets are amazing and completely free for all to enjoy.

  21. So true Susan and beautifully stated.

  22. Elizabeth Roderick says

Beautiful! One of the places I’ve lived that had the most beautiful sunsets was in New Mexico. Apricot, Pink, Turquoise and Violet. Sitting on the back porch watching either hot air balloons or humming birds was so peaceful.

  23. Susan, sunsets are magical! Such sweet joy when you sit and take one in! Lovely photographs!

    Great post.

    Nancy

  24. Gorgeous! There is a restaurant here on the lake that celebrates the sunset every evening. It’s fun to watch. Thanks for sharing this one!

  25. Linda S. in NE says

I too, like to enjoy a sunset. You wouldn’t think it, but we have some gorgeous displays here in Nebraska. I always say there is nothing more beautiful than Mother Nature. It’s funny how we all interpret them to mean something that comforts us. For me personally, I always take it as a sign from my furry, four-legged pals that have passed, that they are doing well and playing happily around the Rainbow Bridge. Always makes me feel better.

  26. Cyndi Raines says

Thanks Susan. I agree with Elizabeth that New Mexico does have beautiful sunsets, lived there for 4 years and yes, the hot air balloons are like beautiful jewels in the sky. And oh, such dark nights to watch shooting stars – what a show! Now I’m content to sit in my swing on my front porch which faces west and watch the sun go down and the beautiful blue hour you have taught us about. So relaxing. Great time to give thanks to the Father.
