Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree…

Over the years, I’ve added a tree here and there, throughout the house. This one is in the family room and it’s decorated with just glass-blown ornaments.

A few of the ornaments on this tree…you can see the beaded garland that drapes the tree…

One of the Christopher Radko ornaments…

Since I have kind of a “hunt” theme going on in my judges paneled family room, I decided to carry that theme on into my guest bath…hence the Thibaut “pheasant” wall paper. 🙂 I have a small Christmas tree in here for guest to enjoy. You can just make out the pin point lights if you look really close. (Lighting in here is terrible for pics.)

Since we spend so much time in the kitchen, I placed the family tree with all the hand-made, family and “vacation” collected ornaments here. This is my favorite tree because of all the memories it holds.

These are the ornaments that mean the most…the ones made by my son when he was very small…
A finger print from when he was only 5 years old…irreplaceable.

I made this little angel from a kit about25 years ago. I hand-stitched her hair and all the design work. I found the red wooden, bead garland around 20 years ago at Macy’s…it reminds me of a tree draped with cranberries. I thought the garland was awfully expensive when I bought it so many years ago at an after-Christmas sale, but it has lasted and lasted and is one of my favorite items to decorate the tree with each year.
You may remember this little tree from a winter tablescape I did on the Twelfth Tablescape Tuesday. It is covered in Swarovski ornaments, collected 1 each year, over these past 17 years.

A feather tree awaits visitors in the guest room…

The tree is covered with delicate glass ornaments that look just like big bubbles.

Can you see the crystal bead garland?

I love the sparkly reflections in the pictures behind it…

And finally, you know the screened-in porch has to have a tree…

with dragonflies…

And as we say here in the south…

Tomorrow is Tablescape Tuesday…click on the pink TT logo in my sidebar for the details. I’ve already heard from lots of you…looking forward to seeing all the great tablescapes! 🙂

    Susan:
What beautiful trees. Because hubby had surgery this year and I am the nurse I went for just one tree in the front room so seeing all your trees made me dream about next year when I will make sure each room gets its own tree. Before it is next Christmas I am making the mice prints for my grandbabies.
    Roberta Anne

  37. As you know, I hadn’t seen the thumbprint ornament Chip made. Way before we ever had a computer and many, many years before the ability to transfer pictures via e-mail. It is way too cute. I know you will cherish it always.

While all the trees are beautiful, my all time favorite tree of yours was the one you and your DH had your first Christmas. If I remember correctly, everything you put on that tree was handcrafted by the two of you. You put together several dozen ornaments and painted each one. It really made a statement in your student housing apartment. It was so reminiscent of times long ago when everything was handmade.

  38. Susan everything is gorgeous! I don’t think I can pick a favorite!

The guest room is soooooooo inviting!!

I’m planning on participating in Tablescape Tuesday tomorrow!!

  39. Too beautiful, Susan!! I love all your trees.

  41. Love all the trees, especially the one in the guest room.

That tree on the porch is much better than last year which is the last time I saw your porch, by the way.

Have a very Merry Christmas! I’m so thankful I decided to not come home this year. I doubt I would have ever made it out of Portland. We’re definitely having a white Christmas!

  42. Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality says

Susan, what beautiful trees, every one of them! You do such a great job with your home & it really shows in your Christmas decor. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!

  43. Oh, I can't choose what is my favorite! I think the white feather tree is WONDERFUL! And all the Swarovski Ornaments are so special. LOVE those & wish I had a collection like yours! WOW! Every one of you trees are so unique. I used to do 3-5 trees/villages every year & I just didn't have it in me this year! Only did two. 🙁 Now I'm feeling shamed looking at your wonderland. Thank you so much for sharing.

  44. Cynthia's Cottage Design says

    Susan ,

wow your home looks fabulous! I have the same beaded garland on my tree too! Is yours vintage ? I have such old strands of it, that the string which its strung on is basically disintegrating, I would love if someone sold it now, I love the look of it!

The other trees and rooms are simply stunning!! you did a beautiful job!!

    Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

Simply Gorgeous…each tree is just beautiful!

  58. Hi Susan,
I just love all of your trees. Perhaps once my children are older, right now it’s exhausting trying to decorate the one with them! I also love the wreath idea, to hang them out the windows. so easy! What a fabulous way to decorate the second story without a really tall ladder! I might have to steal that one next year. My hisband and I have only been married six years, I am looking forward to years ahead, as decorations for the home come with memories attached. Your home is lovely, thank you for sharing it with us!
Have a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones!
    xoxo~

Hi, Thanks, I have decided to share my gingerbread and peppermint dishes. Trying to get it together, but had grands last few days, or weeks. lol But before Christmas, I will do a post on it! Wish I could have joined in on your Tablescape. Hubby promises tomorrow he will have 3 sheet of sheet rock up, better back ground than Insulation. lol I gave a Spanish buffet away, I have this dream one I want. Now, wish I would have kept the other and just painted! After thought! So I am going to make do with the sideboard I made from wall of our house and just paint it. Merry Christmas

  65. Terri and Bob says

That was a fun post. Your trees are lovely. I have that same silver tree in my DR. I have my White House ornaments on it. I like what you did with yours!

The white feather tree is adorable too, with the clear bubble ornaments. The tree with the glass blown ornaments must be gorgeous in person. All that sparkle!

    Merry Christmas to you!

  66. Kathleen Ellis says

Susan…all your trees are stunning…one more beautiful than the next…LOVE them!

  67. I love all your Christmas trees and ornaments, Susan, but my favorite is the finger print that your son made when he was little. That is just so precious! Merry Christmas to you and your family!…Christine

  68. Holy cow! That first tree looks like something out of a magical Christmas movie!

And I love how you have so many other trees as well. I have never thought of that (Of course my husband might have a heart attack if I told him I wanted a tree for multiple rooms – haha!) And he thinks *I* decorate too much (with a grin, though. I know he enjoys it, he’s just happy I do it on my own.)

I found you off of my friend Envoy-ette’s blog. You are some truly artistic people. All these photos are breath taking! Thank you for sharing.

  69. Susan, Your trees are sheer perfection! I love each and every one of them! Merry Christmas! ♥ Diane

  70. Liz@http://infusewithliz.blogspot.com/ says

I know it's old, but such a pretty collection of trees! The feather boa tree is so sweet! I too used to put up a tree with the kids hand made ornaments and special ornaments that were given to them, like Baby's 1st Christmas. Since it's hit and miss any more with their being home I stopped putting it out. Perhaps if Grandkids come along I will resume it's life again! I love your big family room tree too! A perfect room to relax in with some egg nog and brandy! Happy Holidays!! Liz
