Soft Aqua Blues Mixed with Treasures and Gifts from the Sea

Welcome to the 726th Tablescape Thursday!

The painter is almost finished in the garage–hopefully, he’ll be done by today or tomorrow. He and I rolled back the plastic covering the cabinets before he left last night so I could get to my charger plates and glassware to set a table for this week’s TT.

It was the end of the day and super cloudy and rainy out, so I decided to just go with a candlelight table for this week’s Tablescape Thursday.

Beachy Seaside Themed Table Setting Tablescape

It was quite dark out by the time the table was finished. It’s still very much summer here in Georgia, though I know autumn is just around the corner. I just wasn’t ready for a fall table yet.

Beach, Seaside, Nautical Table Setting

The only light for this table was a lamp on the kitchen counter and the candles on the table.

Romantic Beach-themed Tablescape, Sailboat Plates

Starfish Votive Holders, Shell Candle Holder

For this beachy table setting, I pulled out the shell and sea glass charger plates I made several summers back.

Sailboat and Lighthouse Salad Plates

Love these Warren Kimble lighthouse-sailboat salad plates! This gorgeous aqua blue is my favorite color for a beach-themed table! It feels so calming–like the feeling you have when relaxing on a beach house deck overlooking the ocean.

Warren Kimble Sailboat Lighthouse Plates, Coastal Breeze

A couple of months ago I shared these aqua-blue, buffalo plaid napkins I had just purchased. I wasn’t sure how I would use them when I bought them, but I knew they would come in handy one of these days.

Aqua and White Napkins

I just purchased them in yet another color last night. I’ve collected them in so many colors over the years, there’s just something about buffalo plaid that draws me in…I love it! (The napkins are available in many colors here: Aqua Buffalo Plaid Napkins.)

The taupe/sand-colored napkin reminds me of walking along sandy shores while the aqua-blue napkins are the ocean waves crashing along the shore and bringing with them beautiful shells and sea glass. Shells and sea glass are truly special treasures–gifts from the sea.

Aqua Blue Shell Napkin Rings, Aqua Buffalo Plaid Napkins

The blue shell and beaded napkin rings were a find in Cracker Barrel a few years back. They always have the cutest dinnerware items in their little store each summer.

As I was removing, then returning, all the dishes for the garage makeover, I came across these blue glasses covered in summery Adirondack chairs and made a mental note to use them sometime soon. I remembered them last night and they worked well in this setting. I love the little etched Adirondack design. The blue wine glasses were from Pier 1 many years ago. I don’t remember where I found the Adirondack chair glasses now–probably HomeGoods or Marshalls.

Adirondack Tumblers, Beach Table Setting

Do you have any last-minute beach trips planned? It’s not too late, you know!

Shell Chargers Made from Collected Seashells, Sailboat Salad Plates, Candlelit Centerpiece

Looking forward to all the beautiful table settings linked for this week’s Tablescape Thursday!

  1. This is just so perfect in every way. Beautiful!

  2. Great table scape! Thank you for not rushing into fall!

  3. Perfect table setting, Susan. So relaxed, and I love the softness of the candle light. Everything goes so well together. Isn’t it fun that you are now so well supplied you can just whip up a beautiful table like that, with such ease?

If you don’t mind, a question about the painter. It sure seems like it’s taking a long time for this second fellow to finish up. Did the first group really mess up that badly, or was it mostly scuffs from having the floor done? If you were to do it again, would you do the floor first, and then the painting? Are they charging you all over again, for ‘fixing’ the work? These things are helpful to know. Thanks. I hope you enjoy what’s left of our dwindling summer!

    • Yes, the first guy and his team did a terrible job so this painter had to basically go back and cleanup/undo what the first painter did and then do it all again correctly. Also, the company pulled him away from my job on Monday and Tuesday, so nothing at all got done those days even though the painter came here on Tuesday, but then had to leave within an hour. He was here all day yesterday and today and has promised he will be back tomorrow. He still has to fix what the other painter did to the outside of the garage door and the plantation shutters. He may finish tomorrow, just not sure. All the walls and the ceiling are finally done so the plastic is finally gone for good as of today. Now I’m waiting on the replacement hinges for the cabinets because the ones that came with the new cabinets do not work.

      • Susan, I’m so sorry you’ve had to deal with all these painting issues! When you first mentioned it, I thought it confined to a specific area, but it sounds like it was much worse than I had thought. At least the owner is a stand-up guy and is seeing to it that’s it’s done properly. And he’s not charging you again – which is appropriate, but you know how some businesses operate. I didn’t even know about the seal on the garage door. Wow. I’m glad you had that corrected as well. So many people will just try to get away with shoddy jobs, I guess. Well, it’s coming to a close and will soon be behind you. In the meantime, enjoy that beautiful and relaxing table scape. Wish I could be there with you and we could enjoy a couple of refreshing beverages from your Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Machine, lol. 😀 That’s just the table setting for a beachy drink. Thanks for answering.

    • Oh, and I would still do the painting first because I wouldn’t want potting tables, cabinets, and ladders being moved around on the new flooring. The painter who is here now is SUPER careful and VERY detailed oriented and he’s been extra careful…spreading painting cloths everywhere. He’s great! No, they aren’t charging me again. The owner of the painting company came out at my request to see all the issues and is taking care of everything. They are a reputable company and warranty their work for two years.

  4. Beautiful table!

  5. I love this summer-time, beachy table setting! The colors are my favorites. Thank you for not rushing into autumn. Let’s enjoy this season while we still have it, then we can enjoy fall when it gets here.

I have the same plates…just used them, again, this past weekend…living on a lake, they are handy! Your tablescape was so charming!! Nailed it!! franki

  7. Love the seaside tablescape! So pretty! Do you by any chance have a video or instructions for the lovely seashell and sea glass chargers you made? I have a few boxes of shells I’d enjoy using. Thank you!

  8. Love your beachy table! The gingham napkins are perfect with all the other lovely items! I’m not ready for fall until hurricane season passes!! And I only live 30 minutes from the beach, but rarely go. I should do that!

  9. The table is lovely Susan. Perfect coastal vibes. I love the combination of the sailboat accent plates with your DIY seashell chargers. One of these days I might make some myself. The garage is coming together very nicely. You’ve been very patient during this process & thank you for sharing it with us. Have great day. XO- MaryJo

  10. Gorgeous seaside tablescape Susan! I love the colors, the plates are so pretty as are your chargers you made. I love those glasses with the chairs on them-perfect for this tablescape for sure. You can never go wrong with buffalo check in my opinion, lol, so I love it for the napkins. You described it so well, the sandy colored napkins remind me of the sand and the buffalo check ones like the ocean. Love that! Love this tablescape! Hugs, Brenda

  11. What a lovely table Susan – you’ve totally gotten that seaside vibe! Love the candlelight, and the buffalo check napkins paired with the sand ones. Really nice combination. Thanks so much for hosting, and Happy Almost Weekend!

  12. Your table is lovely Susan, and summer’s not over yet! Thank you, and love the way you did the napkins

  13. Candlelight is a nice touch to a late summer table. Almost ready for fall decor, but not quite yet.

  14. Beautiful table, the Buffalo plaid napkins look great. Casual chic and lovely ambiance.

  15. Thanks for taking me to the beach! Seems like forever since I’ve been! The colors are casual and relaxing, playing off the plates beautifully.

  16. Susan, your table is lovely and so relaxing. What wonderful shades of blue, so much like the ocean. Thanks for continuing to share your talents with us.

  17. The tablescape is lovely and calming. Thank you for sharing.

  18. Oh Susan, so good to see a NOT fall table setting! I am not ready to give up summer just yet. 🙂 BUT, here in MN, I bought our first fall harvested apple, First Kiss (Rave in other parts of the country). I guess I am ready for THAT part of fall. It is SO good, with Honeycrisp as one of the ‘parents’. Still….wishing fall was further away than it is. Hope your garage project is over soon and you can enjoy your rest of summer!

  19. I’m not really into tablescapes but I really like this so pretty and I do love me some blue and buffalo check!!

  20. Susan, I love the colors in this tablescape – all the blues and neutrals are so calming. I can almost hear the waves on the beach! Your buffalo check napkins are perfect – especially paired with the sand ones and the blue stemware is gorgeous. And those chargers! I hope you have a lovely rest of the week and the garage gets completed!

  21. Susan, you are a true artist with tablescapes! I think this is my favorite of all the ones you’ve shared this summer! And I agree with you… I’d like to enjoy summer a while longer, too!

  22. My favorite too! Sooo relaxing! Love this one!

  23. Cyndi Raines says

Yes and yes! Love this tablescape and my dinning room table is almost identical. I have my beach chargers on display (that I made after seeing yours, what a fun project!) and my lighthouse dishes and blue goblets from the Dollar store. I have the Reed Barton flatware that has the different shell designs on the tips of the handles. I’m always on the lookout for a candle holder like yours, I absolutely love it. I keep thinking maybe I could try to make one, but that may be a bit of a reach, lol. Trying hard to get a few more trips to the beach in, summer flew too fast!
