One Last Beach-Themed Tablescape for a Late Summer Dinner on the Porch

Welcome to the 573rd Tablescape Thursday!

We’re back out on the porch this week for Tablescape Thursday. I’ve noticed that it’s starting to get dark out earlier and earlier each day.

I’m going to miss those long summer days when it stayed daylight all the way to 9:00 pm.

The blue napkins were the starting point for this table setting. I bought those on sale back earlier in the summer from Pottery Barn.

Here’s a better view from a previous table setting, of the lantern I’m using in the center of our table today. The lantern is from Pier 1 a few years back. It was a bit of a splurge. I remember they only had two and I loved it so much I went ahead and purchased it the day I saw it instead of waiting for a sale. I rarely do that but I was worried this piece would sell out quickly.

I paired it with a cute little box filled with shells and two curious shorebirds. Can’t remember where I found the box now, have had it for quite a few years.

The shell napkin rings are from Cracker Barrel, purchased last summer.

Sea glass Style Flatware for a Beachy Nautical Table Setting

For this late summer table, I brought out my DIY shell and sea glass chargers. You’ll find the tutorial for making those here: Shell Sea Glass Chargers.

The cute starfish salad plates are from Kohl’s, purchased 11-12 years ago during the time the screened porch was being built. They are hallmarked on the back: Shoreline Collection, Home/Studio.

I purchased the flatware at the same time, also from Kohl’s. I never realized until just now, it has a “sea glass” look about it and works really well with the blue glass in the shell chargers!

The dinner plate is the same one I used last week: Mikasa Italian Countryside.

I had a hard time choosing which glasses to use in this table setting. I love this pretty aqua blue color and have collected several glasses in that color over the years. The shorter glass shown below has an Adirondack design that I really love.

I finally decided on the this combination of glassware. The shorter blue glasses are from HomeGoods many years ago. Can’t remember where I purchased the fishy wine glasses, it may have been TJ Max.

Happy summer to you! It’s still summer for about one more week and in Georgia, it will probably feel like summer for another month! 🙂

Beautiful table! I love the blues and of course the beach vibe. Everything is just so lovely. Hugs, Brenda

  2. What a lovely late summer table. I especially like that flatware. I am so ready for fall, however. Hopefully these 90+ degree days will be over soon.

  3. Love the lantern splurge — a good investment perhaps as it goes so perfectly with your chargers, tableware, etc.

  4. So nice to get a few more summer vibes! 🙂 Your table is beautiful Susan – I especially love the flatware matching the sea glass in the chargers. It’s always a pleasure to see your porch! Happy Thursday!

  5. So pretty!! I wish my porch looked this lovely, but maybe when it’s a scooch cooler I will get out there and pretty it up for fall

  6. Love your table, Susan. Especially the starfish plates!

  7. Love the color of the flatware. A nice sendoff to summer. I will enjoy some things about fall; fewer things about winter. But only 171 days til spring! Count down starting now!

  8. Love blue. All your blues go together so well. Love the sea glass flatware, starfish plates, glassware and the treasure chest. All beautiful.

  9. Charming Susan.
Looking forward to cooler weather. Even cold weather, in front of the fireplace. Then to. be regaled with your autumn themes.

Those napkin holders are ADORABLE!! Noooo…say it isn’t so….I am SO not ready for cold…cooler, yes…cold, NO!! franki

  11. Thanks Susan, it’s so hard to say goodbye to summer!

  12. Oh Susan, you’re so lucky! Seasons change so fast here, I’m enjoying your beautiful, beachy table setting, all cuddled up in my favorite blanket because sadly, fall has already arrived in my neck of the woods!
No complaining here, I only wish the transition would be a bit slower. You know, only one week ago I practically lived on the beach looking for beautiful shells while yesterday I went to the grocery store and looked for beautiful pumpkins! What a difference a week makes! lol
Anyway, I loved seeing your aqua blue table and meeting that cute duck-like shorebird! 🙂

    • Really, I didn’t realize it went so quickly there. Yeah, it can really drag out here in the south, which I guess is good, gives my brain a chance to gradually adjust.
      Thanks, Cecilia! 🙂

  13. Susan, thanks for hosting the party — and starting the weekend off right! (I’m a day late I know, lol)

  14. Truly a stand out table and an all time fave for me! Thank you!

  15. I am not getting your emails anymore and can’t subscribe again. Any idea how to fix this?

    • Hi Sally, Please check your email/inbox, I just sent you an email to help gets this corrected.

Ohhh, so pretty, love the blue and of course the beach / shell theme. I had my mind set that today I would put away my nautical dishes and shell chargers, but it was warm and muggy out and I just couldn’t bring out the pumpkin plates yet! This next week is supposed to be warm, so the fall dishes my have to wait another week or so, ha! It’s not officially Fall until the 23rd, so why rush it, right?

    • I know, I’m having the exact same issue. It’s still so hot and still feels like summer, except for the short daylight hours. We might as well enjoy summer right up until that calendar changes!
