Getting More Organized in the Office

Happy Weekend!

Did you survive Friday the 13th? 😉 I’m not really the superstitious type, but it’s always kinda funny when my birthday falls on a Friday the 13th. Saw this online just now and it made me laugh. I’ve never seen any of the “Friday the 13th” movies, but apparently this covers them all. lol

Yesterday was one of those “Friday the 13th” birthdays and it was a biggie–one of those that has a zero at the end. Birthdays were never celebrated very much when I was growing up. My Mom was very sick and unable to distinguish one day from the next, and my Dad was not the sentimental type at all.

Yesterday felt significant in some ways, though. Not to get morbid on you, but people just don’t live that long in my family. I think I’ve mentioned before that my Dad died at the age of 58 from serious heart issues that started when he had a heart attack while serving during WWII. My mom died at the age of 54, my brother died at the age of 61, also from serious heart problems. My sister passed away on my birthday two years ago at the age of 69 from COPD. It was truly a miracle she lived that long since she was a heavy smoker all her life.

So yesterday was a little weird for many reasons: it was a Friday the 13th, a full moon, the date of my sister’s passing and the realization once again that I’ve outlived both my parents. I’ve always felt fortunate to be here at all since the babies my Mom had between my sister and I were not so fortunate. They were all born prematurely and didn’t make it, which is why my sister and I were almost 11 years apart in age. I was also born two months premature and with two heart defects, both corrected later via open-heart surgery at Emory when I was 10 years old.

So, turning 60 yesterday felt significant in a lot of ways, though I don’t feel 60 at all which amazes me. Sixty is nothing like what I expected when I was younger, so if you are younger and reading this, you have nothing to fear or dread.

My fountain of youth these days is my spin cycle. It’s amazing what exercise can do for your outlook on life, as well as your body. It empowers you and gives you life! The worse thing you can possibly do as you get older (other than smoking and other self-destructive habits) is to just sit and lead a sedentary life. Our bodies were made for movement, they thrive on it. The more you do, the more you can do, and the better you feel!

Peloton Bike

So unless you have some kind of health issue that prevents it, I very much encourage you to consider incorporating more movement into your life via walking or gardening or whatever you can manage. Do something every day that gets you up and moving. Even house-cleaning is good exercise. I’d rather ride my bike, though, which might explain the dust around here. lol

So I had a wonderful birthday and I’m very excited about what the next decade will bring. I plan to take you along with me on this fun journey, are you game? Look out Morocco, here we come! How do you feel about camel rides? 😉

Getting Organized for 2017

I’m working on some little projects around here that I hope to share soon. In the meantime, my quest to get more organized is still going strong. This time it involves my home office.

You may remember a while back when I purchased this charging station for the office. I had discovered it too late to buy it in Pottery Barn where it originally sold, but after an extensive search I managed to track one down on eBay. I have so enjoyed using it and use it almost daily. I honestly do not know how I’d live without it. I’d have a mass of tangled cords, a disaster!

I don’t think the one I have is available anymore, but you’ll find this one that’s very similar here: Charging Station for Electronics.

Update: My charging station came with a power strip built-in, and I have that plugged into a surge protector. The charging station below doesn’t appear to come with a power strip. I noticed some folks made suggestions regarding which power strip to use inside of it. Whatever power strip you purchase, just make sure it fits inside the back. If the power strip you purchase isn’t a surge protector, you’ll want to plug it into a surge protector to protect the things you’ll be charging from any surges.

When I purchased my charging station, I needed a way to label all the cords for the various things I’d be charging here. I found these and love how they work! Unlike most cord organizing labels, they don’t stick out and catch on everything. Other cord labels I’ve used drove me crazy doing that. Because of how these are designed to wrap around and hug the cord, almost becoming one with the cord, they never get hung on things or fall off.

I liked them so much, I just purchased two more packs this past week to label all the cords underneath my desk. I should have done this ages ago. In the past it was such a pain when I needed to unplug something because I had no idea what cord went where. Not anymore! Now I can immediately find the plug I need. If you need to label the cords/plugs for your electronics, I can’t recommend these highly enough. You’ll find them available here: Cord Labels.

The surge protector you see below is the new one I mentioned in a recent post that has the pivoting outlets. It’s protecting my computer, printer, charging station and several other pieces of equipment I use here in the office. It’s available here: Surge Protector.

This is the other surge protector I recently purchased for the office. It’s protecting the TV, the Verizon Signal Extender, my Samsung Wireless phone charger and some less important things. It’s plugged into another outlet here in the office. I actually bought three of these to replace several surge protectors that were pretty old. As mentioned in that previous post, surge protectors do not last forever and need to be replaced periodically, that’s why I’ve been replacing all mine. This one is available here: Surge Protector

I think the next thing I’m going to buy are some of these guys. They will help corral all those cords I have running under and behind the desk. They are available here: Cord Wranglers

Have a fabulous weekend, dear Friends! I’ll see you on Monday for Metamorphosis Monday!

Happy belated Birthday-greetings, Susan! I Love your Blog and admire your work! I wish you all the best!

  2. Happy Happy Birthday! My daughter’s birthday is also on the 13th, in February. I’ve always considered Friday the 13th a very lucky day for me!!

  3. Happy Belated Birthday, Susan!!!! You certainly don’t look 60 and you have more energy than most people I know. 😀 By the way, if you’re still looking for a new desk chair, Pottery Barn Teen has all of theirs on sale right now. I bought this one http://www.pbteen.com/products/tufted-desk-chair/?pkey=cswivel-desk-teen-computer-chairs&&cswivel-desk-teen-computer-chairs in Navy for my daughter’s room and it’s great. I may just get one for myself to replace the awesome-looking and awesomely uncomfortable antique Windsor chair I’m currently using.
    Anyway, cheers!!!

    • Thanks, Cyndy…I’ll check it out. Thanks for the tip. Why is it the chairs that look so beautiful, don’t always sit beautifully! Kind of reminds of some shoes brands! 🙂

  4. Happy birthday Susan! I enjoy reading your blog and following along on your adventures. I turned 60 this year too. Took a little trip to the Biltmore with 5 girlfriends from high school. It was so fun. I love the cord labels. Thanks for bringing these to our attention. Eat Cake – it’s your birthday and you can work it off on the bike 🙂

    • What a fun way to spend your birthday, I remember when I did that a few years back. We stayed at the cutest B & B nearby. lol Yeah, I’ve been doing a bit of that, let’s just say I’ll be riding tonight, too! Ha!

  5. Susan, Happy Birthday (delated), may the next year be the best ever.

Ahhh, Friday the 13th! I’m so old and remember Friday the 13 th well, only because this was the day I cleaned my oven. This was before the wonderful age of self cleaning ovens. I would wait for a Friday the 13th and devote my whole day to clean the oven. By the time a Friday the 13th would arrive, could barely bake one cookie in the oven because of so much grime. LOL, glad those days are over and modern technology prevailed.

  6. Susan, A warm greeting from cold Eastern Kansas. We don’t have ice, but south of us they do and have been trying to keep people from going out except in an emergency. Maybe you can do like my husband and celebrate your birthday for a week.

  7. A belated happy birthday Susan. You are only as old as you feel.
This year I will be having one of those birthdays with a zero too. At my age it’s like a big clock ticking.
Thanks for all of the great ideas and the research you do before telling us about them.

  8. claudette flanigan says

Happy Birthday, Susan. Oh, to be turning 60 again! LOL I have 7 years on you. I am also working on organization projects. It’s a never ending job, isn’t it. 🙂

  9. Diane Egbert says

Happy Birthday ! I look forward to read your blog.

  10. Hope you had a wonderful birthday! And best wishes for many more birthdays and adventures!

  11. Belated Happy Birthday wishes, Susan. Thank you for sharing a little of your family story.

    • Thanks so much, Kim! I try to always keep things upbeat, so hopefully this wasn’t too deep. My hope is that anyone reading this post would come away feeling that the paths of others doesn’t necessarily have to be the path that they follow, and that we can grow older and still have an active and enjoyable life. It’s such a blessing that we have the tools now to live longer and healthier, I never take that for granted.

  12. Grace White says

Happy birthday on Friday the 13th. Hope it was a great day!

  13. Happy Birthday Susan! What a blessing you are to soooooo many!
It’s your birthday but we got the gift!! I LOVE your posts and every
    single things you write about!!
May this be one of your very best New Years!

    Cheers!!!

  14. My grandmother lost all of her siblings before they were 60 but she lived to be 86. They also had a strong family history of heart issues. My mom keeps saying that she will die young because so many of her uncles did but she is now 78. Hoping your birthday was great and wishing you many more.

    • It is a little scary when your love ones around you seem so fragile. I’m so glad to hear your Mom has done so well! That’s wonderful! Thanks, Lorri, it was great! XXX

  15. Happy, Happy birthday!! And welcome to the 60s. It’s a great place to be!

  16. Happy Belated Birthday, Susan! I’m a decade ahead of you, turned 70 in December. Let’s resolve to make it at least 40 more years! You gotta’ have a goal. I always enjoy seeing what you are doing, and where you are going. Keep working on that bucket list, many of us out here are enjoying your trips vicariously. Have a great year ahead!

  17. Jane Franks says

Happy Birthday, Susan! You certainly are a young 60 year old! Many blessings in the coming year! Keep up the good work. I believe in activity, too. Walking is my thing. And having a good outlook on life through my faith in God and my creative work.
I love the cord organizers. I need to do that, too.

  18. Happy Birthday to you! I wish the very best! I really enjoy your posts and look forward to seeing them each day.

  19. Laurel Peace says

Happiest Birthday Wishes to you, Susan! Waking up to realize we are “ladies of a certain age” is rather a shock, isn’t it? I’ve no doubt that 2017 will be your best year yet, though, and can’t wait to vicariously share in your adventures!

  20. Nancy Elizabeth says

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY” to a swell gal! We Love you and want you to continue this wonderful blog filled with joy at least for another 20 years!!

  21. Happy belated Birthday wishes! I agree with you that turning 60 is no biggie anymore! I turned 64 in October and still feel at least 10 years younger even with some health issues. I think we need to get over this “I’m getting old” thing. Of course, we’re all getting older, but keep a youthful outlook and sense of humor and it will be OK. Your office organization project inspired me to clean up lots of paperwork and also look at those charging stations and a new surge protector. I look forward to all you posts.

  22. Happy birthday!!! Hope you had a good day. I was so sorry tohear about all the EARLy deaths of your family!!! Thanks for the info on the cord labels and surge protectors!

  23. The happiest of birthdays. Susan. You’re absolutely on the money about exercise making all the difference, and good on you for so fully embracing it. My parents also died early, both of heart-related issues. My philosophy is do what you can (exercise, eat sensibly and enjoy every day) and the rest is out of our hands. I enjoy your blog so much! Thanks for all you do.

  24. Love that idea
    Got to get me some
    Thanks

  25. Betty mcJunkins says

I have been following you for a good while and enjoy your articles so much. Happy Birthday and many more. I sure wish I could travel more. I lost my husband in 1999 and traveled several years after that. My mom is now 97 and I am her full time caregiver. Maybe one day! You are so right about exercise, I am pretty much tied down but have a nice treadmill and I walk on it every morning before I wake her up.

  26. Happy Birthday from one who is one year up on you and I don’t feel 61 either. I never miss a single blog post of yours and find that you always inspire me to get organized myself. Keep up the great work!

  27. Susan: Happy Birthday. Every day is a wonderful gift, thank you for sharing your many gifts with all of us who look forward to your posts. MM

  28. Darla R. Grossman, MD says

I have enjoyed your posts. Happy Belated Birthday! My birthday was one day later (today) and one year younger!

  29. Happy Birthday to you, Darla! Hope you’ve had an awesome one! Someone suggested celebrating our birthdays for a full week, I’m warming up to that idea! 🙂

  30. Happy birthday!! Glad to hear you had a good day!! Could you let us know what surge protector you use with your charger. Thanks!!

    • Thanks, Cathy! The big charging station has a power strip built into it and that is plugged straight into this surge protector: http://amzn.to/2jk8ZOp . It’s a bit more expensive, but it has 4320 Joules, which is really good! So it protects all the expensive electronics in the office, like my computer, printer, etc…

    • Cathy, I was just thinking, you may have been asking what I use inside the charging station, itself. My charging station came with a power strip built into it, but unfortunately it isn’t a surge protector. So I’m using that power strip that is built inside, but plugging it into a surge protector…the one you saw on the floor under my desk.
I was just reading the ad for the charging station that I linked out to that’s so similar to mine, and apparently it doesn’t come with a power strip at all. In a way, I like that better because that means you can buy a power strip that IS a surge protector.
What I would do is just look at the width measurements for that charging station, and then buy a power strip that’s a surge protector, too…and that’s a tad smaller to fit inside. Hope that makes sense.

  31. Susan: Happy Birthday . My wish for you is good health & happiness for many years!
Thanks for sharing your wonderful blog with us.

  32. Belated happy birthday wishes! Those labeling cords are such a great idea! If you keep riding that bicycle, you’ll live to be 100!

  33. Happy Birthday Susan- I’m right behind you coming up in March! You’ve dealt with a lot having so many immediate family members passing so early. Looks like you’ve adopted a healthy lifestyle and are not wasting any time getting out and enjoying yourself! Going to Morocco huh? Wow you are building quite a portfolio of great vacations!

    • It definitely makes you appreciate life more!
Yeah, don’t ask me why I chose Morocco, I think it was the camping in the dessert that drew me to it. Liz, I think the best part about travel is finally getting to see all those places we read about as children in school. I should have started traveling about 40 years ago! 🙂

  34. Happy Birthday! I admire your attitude about life. I agree that exercise is wonderful physically, mentally and spiritually.

  35. Anne Shaheen says

Susan, keep a record of how many miles you ride, that always encourages me. My hubbies wants to know how much the classes on the Peleton cost?

    • Thanks, Anne! You know, I think the tablet/computer may do that because it keeps track of every single ride you do and all the stats that go with it, even including your heart rate. It’s super sophisticated!
The classes are $39 a month and anyone can ride it and as often as they like. So it’s really reasonable when you consider one single class in a studio is usually $30-35 per class.
Also, I’ve read that there’s a Peloton app that folks can use that’s $12 a month, if someone didn’t want to spend $39 a month, but you would have to take the class via the app on a iPad or phone I guess.
I definitely think it’s worth it because again, you and anyone in your household can ride as much as they wish for $39 a month. Some folks on the Peloton Rider’s Facebook page say they often take two classes a day, or take one class and then do a scenic ride later in the day…they love it that much. I’ve never ridden twice in one day, but I’ve been tempted!
You can read a whole post I wrote about it here: https://betweennapsontheporch.net/peloton-cycle-my-experience-tips-for-getting-the-most-from-the-bike/

  36. Happy Belated Birthday! Thanks for the inspiration to work on the cords under my desk! Going to order the Cord Labels and the Cord Wranglers!

    • Nancy, it feels so good to get that rats nest under my desk, somewhat under control! lol I kept looking at all those cords and wondering how there could be this many cords in one area! It’s amazing all the stuff we have plugged in, in an office area.

  37. Teresa Havey says

Just love your ideas and new findings. Everything from your front porch benches to your teaspoons, to your trips you plan for yourself. I live alone now, have my own home paid for and excited to start improving it. We have the same taste. So looking forward in seeing your next findings, and projects. I do wish we lived closer, as to get your suggestions. Thanks for sharing your life so freely. You feel like a long time friend that leaves down the street. Happy Year Year!! Teresa from North Carolina

    • Thanks so much, Teresa! In a way we are friends and neighbors, this fabulous thing called the internet is pretty awesome at bringing us all together each day. 🙂

  38. I love this blog. One of the reason I am impressed with all your get up and go. I was wondering just the other day how you were thinking 48 maybe 52…Happy Birthday.

  39. Happy happy birthday Susan. It is my birthday (14th) today! I’m a few years older than you but close enough (hee hee). I have lost my two younger brothers and my sister-in-law in the last couple of years. I guess it’s the age we’re at. Sure puts life in perspective and focuses your attention on what’s important.
I wouldn’t miss a day of your posts. Your energy and tenacity inspire me. Thanks!

  40. Happy Birthday, Susan! I want to tell how much I love your blog. I can relate to your sense of organization and practicality. I love seeing what you’re doing-from interviewing a long married couple on Valentines Day to vacuming acorns for Halloween! Love, love, love you!

  41. Cyndi Raines says

Susan, Thank you for sharing your personal family story with us. You really have been through a lot; a fighter / go-getter from an early age having such a serious surgery so young, you sure have outdone yourself. I agree – you have to keep moving or you freeze up! ha. We all love you and feel like you are our sister / friend on so many levels. The information you share whether it is a beautiful table scape, movie, book or product review, a recipe, a garden tip, a special clothing buy or an exotic vacation keeps us glued to our computers. The joy you bring is greatly appreciated. Glad you had a great birthday! You go Girl!

  42. Happy Birthday Susan! Hope you are having a birthday weekend and can celebrate all week. I also recently joined the 60 club; we can now get senior citizen discounts! Your posts have always been a joy to read and I look forward to all of them. Make it a great year!

    • Yeah, I like this celebrate all week idea! lol You know, I think the Publix near me does that and starting very early, but I’ve never thought to even ask. Maybe I should, but then that would be admitting I’m a senior! Hee, hee. I don’t think of myself as one yet, shouldn’t I be at least 90 for that? 😉

  43. I was wondering your age! You do so much. I enjoy your posts too and glad I found you. Thank you for sharing a bit of personal information (scary surgery at such a young age and loss of family members) Happy Birthday year!

  44. Happy Birthday sweet friend!! Wishing you another action packed year with plenty of joy!!! I turned 70 last month…….wish I had your energy!!

Thanks for all the work you do, all the research and all the interesting topics you share with us…….you’re amazing!!! xoxoxo

  45. Happy birthday! I so admire the joy with which you live your life; always looking forward to something. I think THAT is what keeps us “young” no matter what our age may be. Wishing you a wonderful year!

    • Thanks so much, Lee! I so agree…I know that’s what keeps me going and happy. That really is the secret to enjoying life, isn’t it…having something to look forward to, no matter how small.

  46. Maggie Amis says

Happy Birthday Susan! Funny…. Friday the 13ths have always been good luck days for me, so I always head into them thinking “yay – Friday the 13th!”

You are doing all the correct things to stay healthy – my husband had some short lived folks on his side – but then we did his ancestry…. and – he had a bunch of relatives that lived very long lives… even back in the olden days when you were not supposed to live that long!

    Deep Breath!

  47. Happy birthday, Susan! As always, you find a way to see the positive in any given situation. Your courage and joy de vivre are inspiring. (For what it’s worth, 13 is my daughter’s college’s lucky number, as it was founded by 13 men with 13 dollars. When the 13th falls on a Friday, they have big celebrations!)

  48. Wishing you much happiness and great health for your next 60!

  49. Susan,

Welcome to the 60’s club and Happy Birthday!!! For some reason, turning 60 really bothered me but now that I am more than half-way through my 60’s, I realize it’s just a number!!
Hope you had a wonderful day. Next time I visit Marietta, we should celebrate our “youthfulness” with a French pastry.

    Big birthday hugs,
    Susan

  50. Happy Belated Birthday Susan! I joined the club late last year and agree, it IS just a number.

  51. Happy birthday. You have so much energy and enthusiasm for life. Thank God for all the years He has given.

  52. Happy “belated” Birthday Susan! I was 65 in September and it’s just a number….I saw someone yesterday at a memorial service that I haven’t seen in about 20 years and she commented on how “good” I looked (I’ll take all the compliments I can get)

    • I forgot to add…my mom will be 97 in June. Living long runs in her family….her dad lived to 98! Her cousin is Billy Graham who is just a year or so older than mom….also her 2nd cousin is Elizabeth Dole whose mother lived to 101!

    • Wow, how cool is that! You have some long-living folks in your family! That’s awesome!

  53. Happy (belated) Birthday, Susan! I hope you had a wonderful day.
I’m so glad to have found your blog and enjoy reading every one. You are such and inspiration to us all. You have brightened many days for me.
May 2017 bring you health and happiness,
    Hugs,
    Anne

  54. Happy Belated Birthday! Keep a positive attitude! It’s part of aging gracefully!

  55. Regality (aka The Quing) says

Holy Crapola, Susan! You’re 60??? I thought the zero was appended to a 4. Happy beginning of your 7th decade. May it be the best ever.

  56. Happy Birthday! Thought you might like to know that many times, the battery inside your surge protectors can be replaced at a fraction of the cost for a new protector. I opted to spend a little more on the protector and save money by buying just the battery when needed.

  57. Happy happy birthday Susan.

I have been following your blog since you sodded your front lawn. Over two years, correct? I have a small screen/glass ( in the winter) front porch, and since this past summer a pergola over my backyard deck. Much of my insperations in picking furniture, cushions etc. for these areas come from reading your blog.

Also, I try to do a weekly run through either Pier 1, TJ Maxx, Marshals, or Home Goods. Thanks to your inspiration! I have enjoyed following your activities and organizational tips, gardening tips, household tips, decorating tips etc. etc. etc.

My sympathies for the losses is in your life. However your attitude is an inspiration and motivation to so many people. Once again happy happy happy birthday Susan.

  58. Happy Birthday! I turned 60 also and I am probably in better shape and in wellness issues than when I was younger. Yoga and found a trainer to work out with weights, have been added to my routines. Morocco..Oh how I would love to go there…it’s on my bucket list too!

    • I need to do some of that, more weights. We need that as we get older, don’t we.
Wish you were going, Michele. I’m looking forward to sharing it with you! Just hope I have a good Wifi signal some of the time that I’m there. 🙂

  59. Happy Belated Birthday – you make 60 look sensational! Enjoy this next trip around the sun in good health! I can relate – turning 62 soon and my dad died at 59, sister at 49…husband’s parents in early 50’s too. When you are older than the age your loved ones died it gives you pause…but it also makes me incredibly grateful for each day. I am retiring from teaching school in 3 days, my husband is retiring the day after me…we are heading out on a big Retirement/40th Anniversary trip…then coming home to enjoy being with each other, enjoying our home ( our own little screen porch), and all that life has to offer! Wishing you many birthday blessings !

  60. Happy birthday, Susan and many more. I a few years older, but it’s only a number. You have brought so much joy and bright ideas into my life; also, increased my spending habits!(Ha!)
    Kay

  61. Hi, Susan. Happy, happy Birthday ( a tad belated!)! I hope your day was very special. You have taken all you gifts of spirit, intelligence, creativity and strength and touched many, many lives, and we are all grateful for your friendship. So, celebrate your life as we do!!! Rosie @ The Magic Hutch

  62. Happy Birthday. Wishing you many healthy years ahead

  63. Happy birthday Susan. You are the youngest 60-year-old I “know”.
You are such an inspiration and joy in my inbox every day.
Every time I read your blog, I think of Max. I guess a post you wrote about him one day years ago must’ve led me here and I’ve enjoyed every minute.
Keep up the wonderful work and have a fantastic year!!

  64. Happy Belated Birthday, Susan. Thank you for all of your wonderful posts with amazing ideas and photography and much inspiration.

  65. Rose Marie says

Happy Birthday, Susan! I love all of your posts, and I always trust your suggestions on items that make life easier or more fun! I am now an Amazon “frequent buyer” because your reviews are always “dead on!” I look forward to your blogs and hope you live another 60 years! I’m looking forward to so much more new inspiration from you! May God Bless you and keep you healthy for a long, long, long time!

  66. Elizabeth Roderick says

Happy Birthday and may you have many more blessed ones!..While reading this, I too, thought (when you said it was a zero birthday) ‘she can’t be 50!!’ so you must be 40. Well..wow you look great! I’m impressed! Keep doing what you’re doing.

  67. Happy (belated) Birthday, Susan! Just wanted to take a moment to say how much I enjoy your blog as there is always awesome tips, ideas, and it’s just a real nice place to visit! Also, as a spin instructor, I think it’s wonderful that you’ve taken this step in fitness and I encourage you to pedal on, girl!

  68. Hope you had a wonderful birthday! I’ll turn 65 in March! Medicare age!! You look very young! Wishing you a fabulous year!!

  69. So, at this point, this is the most belated birthday wishes! This post is well timed. I am struggling with healing my knee and fracture and feel that PT is making it regress. Your exercise reminder is encouraging and making me work hard to get back to even just walking without pain. Thanks for sharing. And a big Happy Birthday; let’s just make it a full birthday week!

  70. Hi Susan,

Happy Belated birthday! I LOVE your posts, and your home is just so beautiful, and your taste is impeccable!! I look forward to reading your posts each time. I want one of these bikes now…thanks for that-ha ha!!

  71. Ann Butler says

Happy Birthday! Hope you had a terrific day and weekend!

  72. linda d townsend says

I hope you had the best birthday. I enjoy your blog. Thank you for making it so interesting.

  73. Happy be-lated birthday Susan!! Wishing you good luck, good health and ferocious spinning on that bike! You aren’t a day over fabulous!

  74. Love your blog so much Susan and all that you share with us! Can’t pass up the chance to wish you a belated Happy Birthday!! Wishing you good health and happiness throughout the year.

  75. I’m very late with the birthday wishes but will still say Happy Birthday 😉 !! And turning 60 ain’t so bad. I’ll hit the 70 mark this year – yikes! I still play tennis 2 or 3 times a week, have sleepovers with the oldest grand daughter who is 7 and makes me play with her in the neighborhood park, and am enjoying life. Oh the knees squeak and creek a bit, I’m a little slower getting off the sofa but overall – life is good. I love your blog and travel vicariously thru you. Enjoy the many years ahead!!

  76. We share the same birthday, January 13th. This year was my 70th. Your blog has inspired me for several years and I am in awe of your boundless energy and moxie. Thanks for being you!

  77. Such a neat post. A belated Happy Birthday to you! I read somewhere the other day that “exercise is for celebrating what your body can do….not punishment for something you ate”! That really resonated with me! Keep on keepin’ on, gal! You are AMAZING!!!

  78. Oh THANK you for the reminder to get a surge protector! We have moved into our new/old house, and I have been just plugging my laptop in where I can…I had forgotten all about that protection! Next on my list today…figure out where to make ‘headquarters’ and get that surge protector!

  79. Well, we both have birthdays on the 13th, only mine is in Dec. I’m just a few years behind you. Hope your birthday was great! Thanks for the positive outlook.

  80. Hi Susan, I love your desk set up. Where did you buy it? Thanks so much great post!!
